Please!

People can just hoard into the vault (especially after the revamp!), and the shop/gallery achievements are just bad for the site and its users. Staff has said huge hoards of this particular nature slow down the site/use a huge amount of space/strain the shitty servers/etc. so encouraging the public hoards with achievements is contradictory.

I admit it, I'm a hoarder. Thing is, once I hit 30K items I decided to stop because I wanted gourmand, plushie, book reading....etc, etc, achievements. But it is a disease, because I still have it. I'm still reluctant to sell unique items I have no use for. I still buy everything new that comes out - all the PekaBoo stuff even if I don't want it for any particular reason. I have to force myself not to buy stuff I don't need/want.

All because in the back of my mind, I'm still thinking of the 40K achievement. What if someday I decide I want to go for it after all? So many times while going for the 30K, I ran into stuff that I once owned but sold because I had no use for it and deeply regretted it.

Please for my own good and that of everyone else, retire it!

omg please don't retire Hoarder! I'm at almost 37.5k unique items. I've been working on this since I started Subeta almost 5(?) years ago (I've taken some lengthy breaks that missed events with items which is why I'm not closer by now). I would cry FOREVER if they retired before I hit 40k T_T

But I can definitely see from the perspective of someone who has not been obsessively hoarding for years, the top tier is insane and damn near unachievable. And they have to be a big giant PITA for the site, considering most of the time I can't even get my shop to load, I just get Blackmoon errors over and over... but it would seriously, painfully suck for those of us who have been busting our asses for this if they suddenly retired...

Yeah, I've talked about this before. We're going to retire these achievements. I just want to get enough notice out that if users are like 100 away, they can get the last little bit.

People are going to hate it, but these achievements are so much worse for the system than they are good for it.

Do you mean you're going to retire the entire achievement, or just some latter tiers? Either way I'm cool with it. I'll be able to sell stuff again!

The entire achievement. Having lots of items on your account that you aren't using / are never going to use isn't really behavior we want to encourage!

I also agree that the hoarding achievements need to get the heck out. It's stupid. It's pointless. Why do they even exist?!?

How much advanced notice are we talking here? Asking on behalf of those who are working on it, really. I never attempted this achievement and I probably won't, especially if it's going away soon.

I like the hoarding achievements, they gave me a challenge to work towards for several months and I got to 30k just fine. 40k is hard, but not impossible.

As more items are added, those achievements get easier to reach as well--so retiring them when they're going to become easier over time anyway seems premature. Plus it's not a waste of items because most people sell everything off afterwards, I'm sure. And as far as encouraging certain behavior, people should hoard or sell items as they decide, I feel like that's really their choice. I DO understand the system strains though :x

Right but it's not really their choice if they feel like they have to get an achievement. And selling "afterwards" is not really helpful when that is sometimes years for some users, or never if they leave before they finish it. Then there are just tons of items sitting in a shop (which puts extreme strain on that system) that are never going to be sold.

No but really, this makes me happy to hear you are definitely retiring these. Soon, do it soon!

I know how you feel I've been working on that achievement for some years since it was added, then stopped like a year ago because I was always in loss of sP, all the items I was buying were going there, making no profit at all and can't add I always hate to add things in collections or wardrobe unless I have double of them because I've been always going for that achievement...

i started hoarding upwards of 7 years ago in hopes of gaining the 45k hoard achievement. i kept telling myself i'd sell afterward. i never did.

retire the achievements and give us a means of mass relocation from galleries to vaults, because i sure as hell am not moving 46k items to my vault by hand :(

And mass shop-to-shop transfer! I'd love to just send things from my (admittedly pitiful) gallery right to my main shop. It can wait until I get another GA though, since I can't autoprice right now anyway, lol.

This is still hoarding though. It's still causing massive strain on the system!

I am torn on this. On the one hand I will never get this achievement and understand that it's a waste of space. But it would terrible if someone was trying for this one and it was retired. maybe the achievement could be tiered and if they reach, lets say half, 20k items by the time it's retired they could be awarded the full amount. just a thought.

well short of deleting everything, how do you propose item hoards of this magnitude are handled? selling it all off via regular shop is dicey, as i know the autopricer has a history of giving out when it comes to pricing massive quantities of items (i'm not sure if the issue's been fixed since i last checked, but i feel safe in assuming that no, it hasn't). but even assuming that wasn't the case, it's still only applicable to items up to 1 million sp in value. i'm going to give a conservative estimate and say that would leave me with at least 1000 unique items to hand price. so we're talking about a bit of an undertaking in simply getting them all out of my account.

Deleting them or even moving them to another location would still be an undertaking with that many items. The site went down when I was just trying to frag 250 items. I can't imagine how it would handle mass transfer O_O

I'd go for just a check box where I can check all or just the ones I want on one page and move the items to either another shop or my vault. Pretty much like how the vault is set up right now to mass move items. I would like this instead of finding everything in my vault one day. I want to sort the items where I want them.

Even if I move my hoard to my vault doesn't mean I'd quit collecting items. lol

This is me. Especially the buying stuff I don't need and seeing items I once owned, sold off and now can't afford to buy back. Event items from the early days of the site are the items I really regret not holding onto.

My shop figures at the moment are:

44,022 (7,272) 2,717 (518) 20,440 (3,115) 6,021 (795) 18,912 (3,058) 741 (107) 13,146 (1,731)

Each one is a different gallery. I can't resist hoovering up event items. I buy loads of really underpriced items and throw them into one of my shops and then forget to check on them again. I'd love to be able to use something similar to the vault item removal. Check all and then choose how many to move and to where - another shop or the vault. I know I can use the drop down box but that takes ages with a large shop and 100 items per page. If it were easier to move items, then I'd probably sell some.
