I think everyone can admit to the fact that the site is in utter shambles right now. No major feature is working properly and some are barely trotting along. There has been overall very little in the way of staff communication the past few weeks and it's just very frustrating as a user who loves this site to see it falling apart everywhere you look.

  • Wardrobe was the first aspect of the site to get "improved" way back in January. It is still in beta (which is good, it's not ready!) however over 7 months have passed now and progress seems to have stalled entirely on it. I'm not upset that it is still in beta, I am upset that it is still in beta and it does not seem to be getting attention anymore.

  • Forums are an utter joke right now. They have been broken since they were revamped and very little has been tweaked since. Pings still don't work properly and staff have been quiet on the issue for around a month or more now. Pings are integral to the forums and it is beyond ridiculous that they are not one of the top priorities. Several smaller but still vital aspects of the forums still do not work and have also been ignored.

  • Ohh forums still don't work, that's okay, lets work on the Achievements anyway! The reveal of this was a clusterfuck with achievements not importing, no news post or warning (I had to do this from my phone - not pleasant), and very very slow. Sure it was speeded up later, but it shouldn't have had to be in the first place. The new system was no in beta long enough to tweak anything and get rid of bugs and it shows. It is unfair to ask users to comb through 1000+ achievements every day to see what was still missing. It's basically been said that if you are missing one you have to let a UA know to get it fixed. Which would be fine if there was an easy way to figure out which one. I have over 1400 achievements. With the new system not in the same order I'm looking at several hours of work. This is uncalled for.

  • Daily cron activities seem to be dead. No new nightly news has been posted for several days now. I would be so upset if my pet won the Spotlight and didn't get a news post. Pets are still winning, you can check the main Spotlight page to see the new winners. So if that is still getting ran why can staff not make a news post themselves about it? All the hard work is already done so it would not take any time at all to update it at some point overnight/early morning.

I know these revamps need to happen to make Subeta more stable, but why not work on them one at a time? It has been shown that multitasking is not one of Subeta's strong points. So do what you are good at and revamp one thing at a time. Is it because you get bored working on just one project? I really want to know. At this point I'm kinda surprised there hasn't been a broken revamp of the Cults to throw into the mix.

This, this SO much right now. Yes, things need to be fixed, we get it. But can things please be finished before something else is attempted at? I seriously don't want to see any more events, new features, or any other "revamps" until the stuff that was broken with revamps is completely fixed.

It would have been easier to make a topic about the things that still work on this site (if there are any) but still I agree with the OP. Not that it's going to change a thing but good that we talked about it, right?

P.S.: If "fixing" the Achievements gets boring we could revamp the Cults.

I love how the musical forum sections is still going on, even weeks after being informed it was "fixed." The chit-chat and debate forums switch places regularly. It's tiresome.

Not to mention the new and improved wardrobe has yet to load my HAs in the correct item order. I shouldn't have to fix the layering each and every time I go in to change something.

I'm also upset that the new beta wardrobe isn't getting some more attention when it's all several people got to change their clothes. It doesn't even have a salon yet, at this point we have no idea when we'll have a functional salon again.

I can get a bit of this "anxiety" to get everything redone on the new system, and I also get that individual features won't be 100% until it all has been redone, but they're just too broken right now. They're barely useable.

Before I start repeating everything else I have already said in similar topics, I'll just finish mentioning that I wish things stayed longer in beta tests before coming live / more time was spent in bug fixes previously. As sad as this is, I also hope we won't be getting brand new features coded before the existing main ones mentioned in the OP get more attention.

I could basically quote the entire OP and add some "^THIS" gifs, I really could. But there are a few things that really, just.. strangled noise.

This in general, but especially this part:

I've been on subeta, nearing 9 years now. I did take a 6-9 month break from the site back around 2007, but I've been otherwise a daily user. I really do enjoy subeta. I've always loved how staff listen, take suggestions, and sometimes even back-peddle/undo things they wanted to move forward with because the user base as a whole didn't like it.

Then 2014 started off so great. was around and posting and being cut-and-dry for once (I'd like to add that I don't feel myself, or anyone, is entitled to know exactly what's going on behind the scenes/financially/why this and why that, but that isn't to say that leaving the people who are ultimately keeping their hobby and someone's livelyhood in business, in the dark is a good idea, either. Subeta doesn't have financial investors, as far as the public is concerned, so if the users stop giving the site money then a lot of people's jobs and livelyhoods are gone), and it was really... I don't know, illuminating as to why subeta still wasn't "recoded" and where a lot of the money was dead-ending. It made it easier for people to understand why things weren't happening overnight.

But then it feels like as of a few months ago, that ship was gunned down and sank, leaving everyone in the dark again to assume why things are just half-happening and left to limp along.

Is there a reason why this stuff is being pushed up half finished? Is it better for the site to have these things replacing the old code? Was the old stuff killing the site? ... is the reason pings aren't working linked to something else that hasn't been fixed yet?

Is there a reason the pet profile page and training center lags horribly when you have a lot of pets? Does anyone on staff even give a shit, because I have no issue making a board in glitches and bugs about the lagging but if I get ignored (like when the pet profiles broke originally and it took WEEKS to get a staff member to even post, or how pet leashes only give you an expiration event AFTER you leash a pet and how that board was ignored entirely) then why even bother?

What happened to the cap being "revisited" too? Wasn't the point to play catch up? There's a ton of capped pets now, and pet's that could cap or are about to. I know that's not to give a max challenger goal because challengers have been created far harder than that statf range and we've been told "well you need gods" and if forums weren't in the shape they're in I'd hunt down the post some staff member made that stated with this we'd finally not need gods to beat things. I really can't wait for a gelly war, with all those users on the exact same playing field gunning for a core, talk about calling out from work for days just grinding because that's the only way you'll make it to the top otherwise.

I've been on subeta for a long damn time. I've been emotionally and financially "invested" if you will, in this site, for a long damn time. I've been through so many ups, downs, crashes, attacks, longcat, lag, enderneko (was that it? or ender something..), bad plots, fired from staff, "prommies", the old B&C, Keith answer videos where he's begged for money, and god knows what else. But it hasn't been until sometime late last year/this year that I just have really started loosing faith in subeta.

It just feels like at some point this year, the site started really falling apart and when that started to happen staff contact shut down. I'm at a point now, where I've actually started to wonder why the hell I'm here. Maybe I should find some other past time to waste my time/money/energy into. I hate saying that, but it seems like more and more often I just find myself going "well it's subeta.. why would it work".

That's because cults can't get any more broken. We would consider it progress if they were only limping along at this point. If you're gonna wreck something, you need it to be at least standing on its own first.

Agree with everything said. As if a silly "festival" site event would console us, considering everything else. I still have 300mil left to spend on Art; after that I'm outta here.

my take on the matter is that there's absolutely nothing surprising about subeta rolling out new features that break as soon as they hit the ground.

when new features roll out, i expect them to be broken. when new events pop up, i expect them to be tragically underthought messes. when everything does break, i expect the site to be tight-lipped about the subject, maybe throwing artists under the bus to appease the public's lust for blood if matters get too hairy.

it's not that i want subeta to fail. i love this site, or at least the concept of it. i love what subeta could be in theory. i have a lot of time and energy invested over the years, and i do want to keep coming back. but when i come in expecting failure, it's that much easier to handle when i turn out to be right. i don't like it, but that's how this site has trained me.

and i hate that i can't demand a higher standard of quality. i don't have the gall to stand up and declare that this is unacceptable for what is supposed to be a business. because it's subeta, and you cannot expect any better.

and if i think about that for too much longer, i'm going to start getting really sad.

The Cash Shop will probably be the next thing "updated." Heck the 'Buy a Collection' banner is from April.

You can't keep people happy by releasing half finished stuff and expecting them to be okay when you claim it didn't show issues when coding.

Just stop and fix what's broken.

If they update the cash shop the way they have been updating everything else, the sites finances might suffer as it'll probably end up a broken system too.

at least we can be assured that the cash shop will definitely be functioning correctly if they revamp that lol

Uhg. I hate that when I have a site issue I have to debate over, do I make a post about it or post on a thread that is already over ten posts? I end up feeling like I can get a better response from a brick wall when it's a week+ later and the issue is still here.

I don't like the flashy loading on the achievements pages. Ever since it was first in beta (wait it still is isn't it even though it's live lmao) the darn page has, frozen firefox every time I try to load any page, crashed firefox at least twice (once just loading a page and the other importing), gotten the Firefox has stopped responding I don't remember how many times before it finally finishes loading. I get lag trying to load wishlists and the like but they have never killed firefox on me like the achievements pages.

I feel like the staff always starts on a new project enthousiast. YAY new wardrobe, Yay new forums, Yay new achievements, Yay new something. And then halfway realizes "Oh shit", and then gives up.

The forums are a mess, the new wardrobe is confusing and seriously: half the time my clothes don't even load. I wish the achievement system hadn't been rolled out until it properly worked. I wish there would have been communication before rolling it out (instead of: surprise, you have to import your achievements before you can continue, sucks to be you if you were in an expensive quest).

They always start with the best intentions but seriously, never finishing the job is getting old and irritating.

I've had so many problems ever since the achievements got updated, which in itself made me rage because I'm an achievement hunter. You mean to tell me that if I don't spend hours and hours combing through my achievements to see which ones are missing and file a ticket, they might just be gone all together? That doesn't seem very fair, not to mention, it seems like everywhere I turn, something glitches or is broken or incredibly slow. You guys don't /have/ to do everything at once. Do things one at a time, make sure they're working without any major issues, and /then/ work on something else.

I agree with everyone else though, it seems like the site is falling to pieces. I hope very much that everything starts falling into place soon...
