We've been getting all these cutesy wearable items for buying CSC too tho, maybe they're just gonna keep that up? I admit I like getting discounts, but since they could have some other incentive planned I don't really wanna rage quit over something so minor.

We plan to bring back coupons at specific times in the future. We appreciate you buying from the cash shop but we need to move away from the idea that we are rewarding you for doing it. If you buy a custom wearable, it's because you want it. If you spin a chance machine, it's because you want an item from it. We can't keep giving bonuses in addition to those things, it's just not sustainable. We looked at how they were doing and realized that.

Take a look at any other business that you purchase from. Sometimes they'll reach out if you spend a lot or are a particularly loyal ustomer, but nowhere do you get a massive discount for buying something every time. It just doesn't happen. During holidays and special sales, maybe, but otherwise it just isn't sustainable.

Like I said, we appreciate everyone who purchases from the cash shop, and we hope that we can keep providing awesome items in both the cash shop and from every other venue on the site but giving things away just isn't something we can do anymore.

Absolutely unrelated, but while we are on the topic of things we get with purchases, are we getting a new bobblehead collection in 2014? That would soften the blow, at least for me :)

That makes sense, . Would there maybe be a chance to possibly keep the 20% coupon for the $50 purchases as it's just such a large purchase?

Or at least to have a smaller % coupon for a $50 purchase, if the 20% one was meaning that Subeta is effectively making a loss on stuff? Or maybe there's a way of doing like a loyalty card discount - a lot of shops I go to have them where if you spend xx amount, then you get a discount amount you can use (the one I can remember is 1,000 reward points (earnt through buying quite a high value of items) for a two pound fifty discount - its not much, but you feel you're saving money, so you spend.... at least that's the theory :P), so you'd still encourage people to shop in the cash shop, but not be doing such a generous coupon amount?

But I agree with the bobblehead request - that would at least be an incentive to shop in the cash shop, and not to just wait until it's on sale in user shops ;)

20% is such an important discount. If anything is kept for the $50, it couldn't be much more than like 5%. Then again, killing it altogether makes more sense.

Not to get technical about it, but we employ illustrators to make those items. And, every item on the site that isn't in the cash shop is an item we technically make a loss on, especially considering the majority of users on the site don't purchase CSC and play Subeta for free.

- I just feel like a lot more people (okay so im talking about myself here) WOULD buy CSC more if there were more visible improvements to the site as a whole though :/ I used to buy CSC quite often (well often for someone with little money IRL) but got kind of disheartened by the site going down, lag, glitches and whatnots.

But yeah, you do pay for staff.

Are we getting technical now? I'd like to get technical too. Yes, subeta employ artists to draw the items subeta releases which means they have to be paid in real money. Yes, the site requires money to keep the servers running. Yes, all other salaries must be paid. These are all very important things that we all know and can appreciate.

But here's the kicker. Before the income from Custom Wearables all of these things had to be paid for, so where is all this extra income going? New features have been implemented, but new features were being implemented before custom wearables. There has literally been no monetary changes on site since custom wearables were introduced. Unless there is something Subeta isn't telling us about, there should be a fair increase in profits. So this crap about sustainability is ridiculous as is this deletion of coupons.

My thoughts exactly. It's pretty hard to argue against the site being on a massive money grab the past two years. It's just becoming more and more apparent. And yet, all the things we actually want and need (a functional site for events, the mythical recode/cult revamp) are still farts in the wind.

I'm not at all surprised this has happened, site management is making it increasingly easy to walk away from here. Bit by bit things people actual like and appreciate are whittled away. But what does it matter if the old guard vanishes eh? We're easily replaced by teenager n00bs with no real bills to chuck buckets of money at the site and not ask too many questions.

And regarding staff being paid and so on, we actually have less staff than we did two years ago. A prime staff member who I am guessing had a nice salary is no longer part of payroll. What about that additional money to the pool? And two of your most valuable staff members (the battle admins) aren't paid money (or are they now? if so about damned time).

This. I stopped spending money on Subeta over a year ago because of no matter how much the site appears to be making, it still sucks. And we'll have THE CLOUD, NEW SERVERS, THE RECODE all dangled as the fix so people keep on spending.

This change leaves a sour taste in my mouth, but that bitter taste has been there for well over a year. That taste makes me not want t financially support the site, despite my actually liking it, because I knew it would not get any better, it was worthless, and I didn't want to pay for [keith]'s travels.

Recode? BWHAHAHAHA! I have more of a chance of finding a unicorn in my backyard than the mythical recode coming into play! And certainly the site art is very nice, and we have lots of pretty items, but . . . I'd much rather have a non-laggy site during holidays. I'd fire a few artists and hire some more programmers to do the thousand little things that would make the site better - fixing layouts, the achievement page, cache lag, etc.

so you take away the only incentive for people to actually buy csc from you with real money instead of with in game currency. by removing the extra csc credit discount they recieve? that they're likely to spend in the cash shop (so it's not floating in the economy) or continue buying packs off to resell for ingame currency?

someone help me here. logic.

You decided to take away a perk for the people that do support your site because the items we are buying are things that we wanted? You would like to get technical because rewarding your users for supporting your site is frowned upon?

What about credit card companies that provide a negligible amount of cash back? What about websites where you buy credits that give you a bonus amount the more you buy from them? What about stores that give you store-specific cash when you spend a certain amount of money? What about companies that give you free shipping if you buy a certain amount?

If you would like more technical examples for why companies reward their customers to keep them coming back I'm sure people could help you with that. And these aren't just examples of one company. Each example has at least 2-5 companies I can think of quickly to back them up. I know this sounds terrible, but the user base IS your company. The happier people are the more money they spend. Why do you think stores play music? Put smells out? Use color theory? Because they are trying to make the best environment for you to be in so you dump out your wallet.

They don't get people to dump out their wallets by taking away their rewards. By having the lights flicker while they're shopping. By not making decent parking spaces. By promising things they never deliver. By patching the leaks in the ceiling instead of making a new one. And definitely not by telling its customers that they things they are buying are things they want so they don't deserve any extra unless the owners decide to be generous that day.

This isn't part of the bonus CSC that we do sometimes for purchasing credits. This is specifically for the coupons that you got when you purchase cash shop credits with cash that you could use in your cart to get a % off CSC purchases.

We're looking at other ways to reward customers (And I completely agree with more CSC for buying higher denominations ) for purchasing, though. Bobbleheads, coupons, extra items, bonus items for purchasing a set, etc, are all things that we've tried in this area and we have to be able to look at what works and what doesn't.

Careful, last time this very suggestion resulted in a stern talking to and thread locking, because logic has no place here.
