That tracker thing is really cool! I'll be honest... I have considered adding your recent posts page to an RSS reader so see if that would work. When you do make posts like this it is wonderful, but it sucks to have to dig around to find this kind of stuff. I understand why Twitter works for you, but I still hope that there will be an onsite solution that doesn't involve reading ALL THE FORUM POSTS. xD

It makes sense, it's just... all of this information comes from us replying to posts. I've been trying to get more proactive on the twitter I just made, but typically it just comes from seeing a topic and replying to it :)

I JUST WANT TO SAY IF MATLAL EVER GOT A TWITTER MY LIFE WOULD BE COMPLETE. THAT IS ALL.
collecting The above post wasn't directed at anyone here at all. :)
I read something in the Subeta tag (despite it saying it was outside the tag which it's not) about you explaining the situation with the servers twice and that being a valid reason against further critical feedback topics.
Your fans really love you, or love to make assumptions for and about you. I'm not one for speculating about staff intent myself. ;)

I just have Keith's most recent posts as a link in my sidebar on Subeta, though you could also just bookmark it. Link here That way I don't have to go through all the threads everywhere and can see just his posts. If a topic looks interesting I can go take a look. I also have a few other staffs posts. It does feel a bit like stalking, but that's basically the only way I can think of to keep informed (at least at the moment).

I check his posts via his profile and feel a bit like a stalker about it as well haha.
He's been so forthcoming lately with new information though that even that isn't a foolproof way of getting the information.
I just think the user gripes about user frustration are coming from a place of baseless speculation. These people aren't staff so I don't get why they feel the need to jump in for them when they have little to no knowledge of what's really going on behind the scenes, you know? Woof.

That's actually a really simple, elegant solution for now. Thanks for sharing! I don't see how it is really "stalker" either, after all everything on this site is public as long as you are logged in :)
I have considered doing this (or an RSS feed), but it felt too weird and like I would be going too far. Glad to know that I wouldn't be the only one.
Is there a timeline for the code? Like, late 2014 or Early 2015?
That's where I say if there was MORE open communication threads and news posts, it may help forum threads from getting SO FULL of information every time.
You could always do like it seems a lot of us are, and bookmark Keith's topics and posts to keep tabs on the "more important" items of business?

I agree! I do browse his recent posts through his profile, however I still think it's necessary to sort out the information that's pertinent to everyone and make it accessible onsite separately. Users shouldn't have to seek out important news, and things are so easy to overlook in the forums and they eventually get buried as he posts more like you said.

Yeah now if we can convince them of this. :/

mentioned that he was looking into things since people aren't crazy about having to go through Facebook/Twitter/Tumblr. I think it would be easiest to embed Twitter feeds on a page off the main news.

Yes but still, convincing them that it's the best choice may be more of a challenge, IMO.

My problem here is that I just don't think that posting every piece of information I post in the forums would actually be useful to anyone. A lot of it is me answering questions, me talking about features and mostly posing questions. Can you imagine if a feed included all of my posts in the problems and bugs asking people what browser they use?
The information that is important to every user on the site makes it to the announcements and news page. Most users (and by most, I actually mean most) just don't care. They don't go to the forums unless they have a problem or bug, they file tickets when they run into issues, etc. They play Subeta for a small amount of time and log off, and typically don't touch a lot of areas of the site that power users (most people who use the forums) do and I don't think they really care about them.

, I don't think most of us, or not to offend... I personally wasn't talking about everything.
But why does it matter what those people do or don't do? It shouldn't. The players that matter the most are the ones who actually give a damn IMO.
I think just MORE things need to be publicized. Not every little thing.
Which seems as I understand it... what some other people may have been asking for?
Just the more important things you can read users talking about a lot in forums and such.
Is that plausible?

Right, so what I'm asking for is examples of what you think should be posted to the site. What do you think is important enough that it should be announced and where do we draw the line so that there isn't a huge amount of noise that you're sifting through to find something valuable (like you currently have to do with my posts on the forums).
Can you give me an example of something that you've thought "Wow, I wish he posted that for everyone to see" or a few examples. That'd be very helpful :).

Ok I didn't gather that you were asking that in your post. :)
I know one although it has been covered now is the bit of information regarding the server crashing when getting over 1,300+ users onsite at once. Although I have been around 6 years or so I felt the site was falling to the wayside but to know you're stuck in the contract and are still trying to get them to work with you on it, would be nice to let everyone know.
I think that is one of the more important things I'd like to be informed on, site crashes and what is up when they are happening.
One thing that bores me however if we go that route is the "pet spotlight" I'm not into that type of thing and don't find it important enough to take up the news feed, now if there was another way to feature it... but I don't want anyone to get mad just putting in my two cents.

, here's a couple different recent examples that I could think of:
That the new Vending Machines were running on brand new code that will be used throughout Subeta, not just merely a face lift. Along with that the fact that the recode that we knew of with the total redesign is no longer being worked on as such.
That user shops and galleries are going to me tweaked to have limits and such. Nothing is official yet but the forum topic has good conversations going so maybe just a quick "Hey guys come check out this forum about possibly shop limits, give us some feedback." on the news/announcements would have sufficed.
The reason behind all the lag. I get that most people won't get the technical jargon, but at least they would have a better understanding of why the site behaves like it does when tons people are online for events.
More detail into the recent Cash Shop Coupon change. The news post should have included that we would get a perk other then the codes from now on. If you didn't know what that would have been at the time, you should have said that we are still working on it and to stay tuned for further announcements.
Obviously only casual players won't really care to much about these issues (though I would like to think they would) but just a quick sentence or two to direct people to the appropriate thread if they want to learn more I think would be a very nice compromise to full blown news posts. It could be optional like the Announcements are but I feel like it should be turned on by default then you can opt out if you want maybe.
