Gold Account Changes!

Excellent news! The Pet Leash is now a bonus feature of Gold Accounts, instead of being a stand-alone CSC feature! So if you have a gold account, you can leash any one of your own pets and their headshot will show up under your human avatar on the forums. So you can keep an eye on them wherever you go! Just what I needed for Squidley, the little scamp.

Do you remember how to activate a leash? Simply go to your Pets page, click on the little drop-down menu of the pet you'd like to leash, and select 'leash'. From there on it's pretty straightforward! Don't forget to change your pet's headshot to be what you'd like it to be on the forums!

This has been added as a Gold Account feature because something else has been taken away...the 5 extra pet slots. But no fear, because you now have 10 BASE PET SLOTS!! This is huge! What it means is that when you get a new pet slot from say...a site-wide user quest, or a loyalty box maybe: you don't have to activate a Gold Account in order to use it. You can apply it straight to your account!

I'm told the people who made this happen thought this would make things way less confusing. I hope that's the case! NOW GO ADOPT SOME PETS. You know, if you haven't already maxed out.

Oh - and if you have any ideas for more Gold Account features to help take the place of the pet slots being taken away, please come suggest them!

For the confused! Petslots are no longer linked to gold accounts. Everybody now has 10 base pet slots. When you activate a loyalty totem you will get 1 additional pet slot, you do not need to have a gold account to do this anymore. If you participated in the quest-a-thon you will not need to buy a gold account in order to activate your pet slot.

I was talking a form of reimbursement for those of us who bought a GA account purely for the extra 5 pet slots since the base pet slot amount is now 10. I have essentially paid for something that is now free for new users, which i feel is unfair and should perhaps be compensated.

Should the leash expire at the start of a new day? I set mine up yesterday, then had "your pet leash has expired" this morning, and had to set it up again? o.O

Uhmmmm... no? That's what this whole post was about. You now get those pet slots for free, and get the pet leashing as a perk instead. If you got 5 pet slots again for being GA that would defeat the whole purpose.

I feel stupid right now. I like not having to activate a GA to get another pet slot thing. I did some questing during the event but not much since my job kept changing my schedule and screwing me out of my free time. Do I still get the free pet slot? If so how? It says I'm using the 12 of my 12 slots. :/ Or since I didn't do many quest I don't get anything?

I'm really pumped to hear that I don't have to waste sP for a GA for this additional pet slot we'll be getting for the Quest-A-Thon (and future loyalty boxes). But at the same time, I only used GAs for the purpose of creating/adopting a new pet once I got the slot for it. The leash is a great addition but not enough for me to drop sP or CSC for a medal. Depends on potential new features :P

I like this change, though I think it would have been a better idea to keep the 5 added pet slot GA perk as well since I know a lot of users only bought GAs for the pet slots.

So glad the base pets were I increased, though.

back when many of us joined there wasnt a 1 week gold account or an autopricer. The main reason back then was pet slots and maybe lower time between the few games there were,(this was when Subeta was still new)so some of the 'old timers' might feel a little jilted that users are getting now what we paid for way back when.

This change makes me extremely happy. I was always annoyed that I needed to spend money to use my /Loyalty/ prize to the site. I like having a GA every so often when I can afford it for the autopricer but now I feel less pushed into it in a way <3 And I'll finally try out that leash feature next time I buy one.

I think this is a mistake on subetas part. Because the ONLY reason i even buy a GA is for the slots, and the autopricer and shorter training times are just an added bonus for me. So now that I don't need to buy it, I won't lol.

Well, i think its a bit ridiculous to take away a huge perk of PAYING for a gold account, and then not have anything lined up to replace it. Currently, I don't see the value in continuing to pay money for something that just lost the hugest perk.

I'm sure people will eventually come up with things to fill that void, but for now, there isn't.

I agree this is a great change for the better- even if it doesn't really affect me, because I already maxed out my pet slots. ;-) As for the GAs losing a major bonus- I bought my first GA years ago because of the extra pet slots, but kept on buying them ever since because I got so used to the autopricer. ;-p

I'd always wondered why the extra pet slots were GA-only, cause it made it so expensive to buy (and actually make use of) any new slots. So this is a good thing for all the pet hoarders.

However, the GA has just lost a substantial bonus. For me, the leash would not be any incentive to buy a GA. The pet slots were. But, as we know that new perks of some form are coming to the GA, I'll reserve my overall judgement until then c:

This change doesn't really affect me because I have 16 slots with my GA and every intention of getting as many as possible but I'm still so glad this is a thing now.

The only thing I can complain about is how this wasn't a thing for years now, I can't say how many GA I had to activate just to get a new pet from the loyalty box thingy Kudos for an amazing improvement

this is nice cuz ive always been torn between LB pet slots or GAs in order to edit my current pets. now i can just get more slots or make/abandon current pets. wish id have known about this perk prior to hoarding my GA medal i guess! ha

Do like this very much. It was so confusing to new people before, and annoying for everyone.

I like never wanted to make/get/etc a pet because it was like 'is it -really- worth it'?

Even less sad about the two slots I lost to the ether (before loyalty totems got their own categories) because of this. Yay. Class act.

As a user who has spent hundreds of dollars on CSC and Gold Accounts alike(I have 24 pet slots!), I wholeheartedly approve of this change. I mean, the amount of CSC I wasted buying a Gold Account just so I could get a new pet is incredible - I never use any of the other features. I'm much happier to be able to spend that CSC on more pet slots or on Gift Cards to sell in my shop. I honestly think I'll be more likely to spend money on Pet Slots now that I don't have to worry about the hassle of buying a GA at the same time. So thank you very much SubetaTeam! The pet hoarder in me is very happy :3

So with ten base pet slots, does that mean the amount of pets I can have now goes up by the amount of slots I've earned through totems and loyalty boxes with the old base amount?

Though I am really happy I don't have to have a gold account in order to add a new pet.... If I would have known that, I wouldn't have activated the GA Ive been hoarding in my vault for the quest-a-thon x.x

That's not going to placate the people who feel ripped off. I've never been hugely into pets, but for some people, that's the only reason they come to this site in the first place. This is a fantastic change! There have been plenty of times where I've had to activate a GA just to adopt another pet because I always choose the "extra pet slot" option with loyalty boxes. This way is a much more user-friendly than the old method and for any new users to join it will be a lot easier to understand how slots work.

Like some other users, I'm a little bummed right now since pet slots were part of why I bought a GA.

But at the end of the day, having pet slots unrelated to GA status makes a lot more sense for the site as a whole. It's not a disaster, we aren't being forgotten. We just need to come up with nice ideas for (a) new perk(s) to replace the pet slots. Most of us probably have things we want, and I'm sure we're capable of thinking of something that can make this work out for us.

It's also hard to be devastated over something that is clearly making the vast majority of users really, really happy. Even if I'm not thrilled for myself, I'm excited for everyone else :)

And it's always good seeing that Subeta is listening to their users. Pleasing everyone is impossible, but I feel like they make a genuine effort to hear us out and make us happy. Especially compared to similar websites. I appreciate that a lot.

GAs are worth it to me for the benefits of extra quests, random times, reflection, training times etc. I would still want a gold account even if I only had one pet.
