Gold Account Changes!

Excellent news! The Pet Leash is now a bonus feature of Gold Accounts, instead of being a stand-alone CSC feature! So if you have a gold account, you can leash any one of your own pets and their headshot will show up under your human avatar on the forums. So you can keep an eye on them wherever you go! Just what I needed for Squidley, the little scamp.

Do you remember how to activate a leash? Simply go to your Pets page, click on the little drop-down menu of the pet you'd like to leash, and select 'leash'. From there on it's pretty straightforward! Don't forget to change your pet's headshot to be what you'd like it to be on the forums!

This has been added as a Gold Account feature because something else has been taken away...the 5 extra pet slots. But no fear, because you now have 10 BASE PET SLOTS!! This is huge! What it means is that when you get a new pet slot from say...a site-wide user quest, or a loyalty box maybe: you don't have to activate a Gold Account in order to use it. You can apply it straight to your account!

I'm told the people who made this happen thought this would make things way less confusing. I hope that's the case! NOW GO ADOPT SOME PETS. You know, if you haven't already maxed out.

Oh - and if you have any ideas for more Gold Account features to help take the place of the pet slots being taken away, please come suggest them!

For the confused! Petslots are no longer linked to gold accounts. Everybody now has 10 base pet slots. When you activate a loyalty totem you will get 1 additional pet slot, you do not need to have a gold account to do this anymore. If you participated in the quest-a-thon you will not need to buy a gold account in order to activate your pet slot.

BEST CHANGE EVER OMG. So much less confusing and so great for all of our creative new users joining lately. 8D GO FORTH, MAKE PETS I'll continue to buy a gold account anyway because I hate ads and I love extra quests (and I'm too elitist to lose my gold icon after having a GA active almost every day for the last 9+ years). I can't wait to see what new perks everyone thinks of!

This is awesome. I've already used my 10 pet slots, yearly loyalty tokens for pet slots, and just saved up enough sP to purchase the 2000 csc pet slot. No complaints here. Subeta is great in making this site super user friendly. Long live large pet families! Thanks, Subeta Team!

Aw! Don't feel like that, lol. This is actually a good chance if you ask me. I mean, having to get GAs every time you wanted a pet slot was a pain in the rear end and in the neck XD. So to have 10 base pet slots is way better than having to purchase a GA for the extra 5. I mean, I don't see why you'd be unhappy about this change. It's a good change ❤ one of the best good changes haha.

Ahhhh I'm so excited to have 10 base pet slots!!! Now I don't have to conserve my pet slots as much as I did when I had 5! ^u^ I'm also really excited for the extra one from the Quest-A-Thon; I feel like one lucky guy right now.

THANKS! Exactly my point... Spending money to get extra 5 pets isn't even needed, you can buy GA medals with sP lol And if the someone doesn't abandon their pets, it's not needed to be GA forever, since it's not gonna increase your pet slots as times goes by.

I know this is a very good change, I'm just greedy! I did my fair share of explaining the GA/non-GA slots thing, too and I really do appreciate the change.

I mean, I don't abandon pets often and I mainly use my GA for the extra wardrobe slots + autopricer anyway (I mean, I filled those pet slots too but like I said, you spend maybe $5 one time for that and you're done) so like I really don't need the extra pet slots perk, I'm just going to miss it :P

I wish I would have waited before I bought a GA. I guess I was anxious and excited about getting a new pet slot. But I'm not upset, I like the perks of having a golden account anyway, so no loss there :)!!

I also think this is a fabulous idea and I am so happy about this!! I did get tired of having to get a GA in order to activate pet slots. I also like that we can leash pets without having to use more csc :)!

Well, don't I feel like a proper idiot for activating a GA today! But still, this new system is so much simpler and has been needed for so long that I ain't even mad. It's about time the base pet slots were increased anyway; so many pets and colors have been added over the years that imho 5 base slots didn't feel like enough.

Don't get me wrong, I love extra slots, but the mechanics on the GA slots were awful.

People getting confused about how many pets they were allowed to have before because HEY DOES A GA ALLOWS YOU TO HAVE MORE THAN FIVE PETS, OR DOES IT JUST GIVE FIVE EXTRA SLOTS. The way it was done was really bleh and confusing and not user-friendly.

Well yes pets are a big thing for me. I don't abandon my pets like others! I make a pet to keep forever.. but now I am feeling very displeased with that.. and actually don't know what to do. I love this game because you can have more pets.. I found it when Neopets went to poop.. but now all that work I put into getting those except five have been dumped. But I guess why would one persons unhappiness in losing out matter right? I play everyday.. maybe missed a weeks worth since I joined. Now I'm thinking RL sounds better. Please no more pinging me, as I don't know if I can hold it in. Thanks. :'(

Oh and thanks for making leashing a gold account feature! It's cute and I love seeing people's pets on the forums. Though it's gonna make the forums even longer haha. Maybe time for me to hide HAs again for a while. (Do leashed pets show when you have HAs hidden?)

YAY i always wanted to leash one of my lovelies~ and this is so much easier to understand! i was always so confused why my "pets" page used to say 11/6 pets, after reading these comments i get it and i'm glad it'll just show 11/11 now

actually, you ddidn't have to pay 5 dollars to have extra 5 slots, you could play 4 or 5 days and buy an 1 week GA medal with sP or take one of them in the free gift (it was already the free gift lots of times). And the extra 5 pet slots were never the biggest thing for GA users, because you can still have 5 extra pets if you only had 1 week of GA (you just can't abandon them). The main reason for most people is autopricer and decreased time for training, because it's a daily, not a once-in-forver thing.

I really like this change! I love the leash feature and always forget/don't have spare CSC.

I am concerned for the future sale of GAs to newbies coming into the site though - they may not be as inclined to spend money without the promise of extra slots now.

Pets is what I like.. everything is also a nice bonus, but $5 /pet is still money out of my pocket and I now wouldn't have had to spend it if I joined today. To me that isn't fair (I'm probably not the only one). The leash thing is neat but I can live without it as well as the forums which were already there for GA's.

How do activate the eleventh pet slot? I don't see an option for it on the pets page, and I definitely participated in the Quest-a-Thon.

"Original GA owners" also got all the other perks that came with their GA and still do.

You paid at most $5 to get 5 extra pets, and while yeah I'm also disappointed that GAs don't get additional pets (because I'm a greedy little shit that consistently uses a GA regardless), this change is better for everyone and in fact makes things easier for you as well, should you ever want to abandon a pet while you don't have a GA active.

There was a thread linked to add your suggestions for what you'd like instead, that isn't a pet slot :) We've moved away from that because it makes it confusing when you no longer have a gold account.

- The base slots aren't an addition, they're a replacement. If you had 36 petslots before, you haven't got new slots now. But if you were to activate a new petslot, you would not need a GA to do so. If you only had 5 pets right now, you'd be able to go up to 10. We have taken the 5 pet slots off of the gold account, and made them into 5 base slots instead, so that everybody gets them for free.
