Gold Account Changes!

Excellent news! The Pet Leash is now a bonus feature of Gold Accounts, instead of being a stand-alone CSC feature! So if you have a gold account, you can leash any one of your own pets and their headshot will show up under your human avatar on the forums. So you can keep an eye on them wherever you go! Just what I needed for Squidley, the little scamp.

Do you remember how to activate a leash? Simply go to your Pets page, click on the little drop-down menu of the pet you'd like to leash, and select 'leash'. From there on it's pretty straightforward! Don't forget to change your pet's headshot to be what you'd like it to be on the forums!

This has been added as a Gold Account feature because something else has been taken away...the 5 extra pet slots. But no fear, because you now have 10 BASE PET SLOTS!! This is huge! What it means is that when you get a new pet slot from say...a site-wide user quest, or a loyalty box maybe: you don't have to activate a Gold Account in order to use it. You can apply it straight to your account!

I'm told the people who made this happen thought this would make things way less confusing. I hope that's the case! NOW GO ADOPT SOME PETS. You know, if you haven't already maxed out.

Oh - and if you have any ideas for more Gold Account features to help take the place of the pet slots being taken away, please come suggest them!

For the confused! Petslots are no longer linked to gold accounts. Everybody now has 10 base pet slots. When you activate a loyalty totem you will get 1 additional pet slot, you do not need to have a gold account to do this anymore. If you participated in the quest-a-thon you will not need to buy a gold account in order to activate your pet slot.

Wow, guys, that's so generous! :-) The GA may need a litte extra now that one of the main reasons for buying it is gone but you did say you're already working on it...

Yups, when your GA expires, you still will have 13 slots. when you get your next loyalty box, GA or no GA, it will be "you are using 13 out of 14"

For those confused---- If you NEVER used a GA and had only the base slots and any pet loyalty token slots- you just got FIVE MORE PET SLOTS.

If you HAVE used a GA to get the additional 5 pet slots, nothing changes. You still have the same number of pet slots. But now, you no longer have to activate a GA to get more!

Example: I had the additional 5 GA slots filled, but did not have an active GA. So I had 24 slots of 19 filled (since the 5 slots vanish when the GA goes off, even though the pets remained). As it was before, for me to activate the new slot we get tomorrow night, I would have had to PAY MONEY to activate a GA just to use a FREE slot. So, with the GA on, it would have read 24 out of 24 (and then out of 25 when the new slot was active). With this change, I no longer have to buy a GA every time I want a new pet slot. :3 And this is the same for everyone with GA slots!

Loyalty Totem pet slots don't need Gold Accounts anymore? Fantastic!! :D That means I no longer have to bother with saving my loyalty totems and any week GA medal's for years like I had been doing. ;u; That also means that I no longer have to fill my last pet slot before my week GS medal runs out! Yay~

That was changed years ago : now totems and paid slots are independent from each other, and you can use them in whichever order you want to!

I'm glad this was changed, because the mechanics of how pet slots worked before today was really awful and confusing.

Soâ€¦ do we still have to buy the slots we're going to pay for before using loyalty totems? I remember reading somewhere that if you used the totems first and tried to buy slots later, it would register that you had already maxed out the number you could buy or something.

This is freaking amazing! Thanks guys. As a long time user I've always found it a little frustrating to have to get a Gold Account in order to utilise my pets slots, especially if I just want to add a new one from a loyalty totem or maybe change a few around. This is going to make things so much easier! :D

No, you don't have to purchase your first ten base slots

However, every other pet slot has to be gotten via the cash shop, or loyalty totems

For those who bought the GA medal to get the extra pet: well, sh** happens, okay? But you didn't have to rush, because we know staff already gave us 1-day GA for server maintenance before. For Quest-a-thon they could use that (now that's no longer needed, obviously).

And you can always save GA medals for the future, you don't know when you'll need it ^^

So, I have 12 slots now. This means that even if I didn't have a GA I'd have 10 straight up. But since I already have 12 soon to be 13 pets, I'd still have to have a GA to activate those extra slots? I'm so dense sometimes.

For those asking about the Quest-a-Thon, last time for the super user achievement a pet slot totem was given which increased the max pets by 1. So don't worry about it. Also, what happens for those who still have their pet leashed, just for curiosity?

The only change this involves is that you no longer need a GA to have more pet slots.

This is SO awesome!! I've always wanted to leash a pet, but I didn't want to have to pay anything extra. Can we leash a different pet than the active pet??? I guess I'll have to check it out! (OFF TOPIC--I won a contest yesterday with my current HA!! It was fun)
