National Novel Writing Month, is an annual, Internet-based creative writing project that takes place during the month of November. Participants attempt to write a 50,000-word manuscript between November 1 and November 30.
Are you plotting your new book? Planning to just run with a spark of an idea? Let's share what we're working and support each other for this year's 50k words!
Please join:
Writer Profiles: (Grabbing this list from last year's topic, because we all need cheerleaders!)
Note: There is a new website that has all sorts of bugs and issues. If you want to retrieve your buddy list or see your old, untransferred data, you can visit https://archive.nanowrimo.org! (Please also use this board to vent about these bugs when throwing your fist in the air just isn't cutting it.)
I think I'll try it. At least more than 10k words. I have an original story that's been in my head since I was a child.
Awesome ! If you have any local meetups they will definitely give you some motivation and inspiration to start/continue your story (week 2 gets depressing for me) if this is your first go at it :)
Too soooooon! Ugh, My body is not ready. Neither is my mind, or my plan/draft!
Yeah, I'm ready to try again. Mental and physical health issues kinda stopped me, as well as moving a lot. But now we're in our new house and I'm going to try to properly start an idea I've had for about 15 years now. I sound old but I'm only 29 and people think I still look 16.
My novel is a fantasy/adventure story. I have a very, VERY basic outline of the country but I am re-writing the plot. I need to flesh this out before I really start in. I do write fanfiction and I have a solid idea, each chapter summarized, and characters full fleshed out which makes writing the whole thing soooo much easier.

here's hoping my november cooperates this year and i get further than usual
i really do need to plan, tho
been meaning to do it but i just never do ;A;

Hey :) Looking forward to writing again with you!
I hope it goes smoothly for you and wishing you all the best in your new house! I'm rereading parts of No Plot, No Problem and hopefully I'll get a little further in Save the Cat! Writes a Novel, which seems to be a great way to create the dynamics of the story.
Also planning using this NaNo 101 Prep PDF. I already have some ideas from it that I definitely would like to write more about :)
Ooooooo I'm gonna have to look into No Plot, No Problem! I've read Save the Cat! Writes a Novel cover to cover (just to get an idea of what'll be useful for the story I'm pretty sure I'm doing) and it really helped me with what goes where and how-ish long things should be
Genuine lifesaver for someone who knows the general gist of how things should be structured but just can't wrap their head around exactly how to go about it.

This is my 10th year doing NaNo, and hopefully my 5th win!
I was prepping my story when I thought of a new idea that I absolutely LOVE... Now I'm procrastinating because I'm scared to mess it up! ugh.
I'm going to set up a new writing space so I hope when I'm done moving this around I'll be a bit more focused.
Also... I'm going to add everyone to my buddy list! I'm pretty sure I had you all added before the buddy lists were wiped!
-twirls around- NaNoooooo~ I'm so excited to finally be truly committing to writing something at last! xD I've got a general idea, a couple characters, and no clear-cut plan -- it's gonna be wonderful. 8D I purposefully didn't sign up for any classes the second half of fall semester so that all I'd have on my plate is normal work. No "too busy" excuse this year. Nosiree, I'm DOIN' THIS! >< -determined-
Aaaah I'm so glad I got this ping! I was perusing the nano website last month and started working on some characters but then got side-tracked.. perhaps I would finally be able to finish if I was working alongside some fellow Subetans? My UN on Nano is perfect.little.secret , for whatever reason it doesn't display a word count for me in 2009, the only year I got pretty far into a story, oh well. How do you all start planning before November begins? That's the element I'm really a newbie at, I usually just make it up as I go but then the plot can get meandering.
Thank you :) I wish everyone who takes part in this the best of luck.

Anyone doing any prep write-ins? I'm off to vacation for a week, wishing everyone the best! :)
Don't know how active I'll be around here but might as well say hi. This is going to be year...uh...16 of NaNo for me? Wild thought, that. If I can hit 50k, I should be 50/50 for wins and losses. How much I get written each year has far more to do with what's going on in my life at the time than what I'm writing or how much or how little I plan ahead and I'm currently unemployed for health reasons so we'll see how things go. Fun facts: at least 90% of what I write is horror and I met my best friend (and like half of my RL friends just in general) via the local writing group.
I'm keeponshouting on the NaNo site for anybody who wants to be buddies.
I don't think I'll be able to meet up, but if anyone needs, I can provide encouragement or writing help!
Ahh, so glad to see there are other Subetans participating! <3 This will be my seventh consecutive year, I believe? Fifth time achieving that 50k, should all go to plan! I'm very excited, and itching to start, so I'm passing the time by writing down notes and a vague outline. 😄 This is the first year that I'll be tackling an idea that I didn't come up with, like, the month before. I'm very much a "I'll figure it out along the way" writer, so I rarely put a lot of planning into NaNoWriMo, but I've not been in the best headspace this year so I thought I would make it easier on myself by writing a story I actually have ideas for. I have characters, lots of scenes, and vague idea for the string of events ... which doesn't sound like much, but it is more than I usually have going into November! 😂
I look forward to writing alongside all of you, and cheering you on! :)9 I'd love to hear more about everyone's story ideas, if people are interested in sharing?
I'd love to share work! I'm a little paranoid about doing so in a forum setting, but I'd love to set up a writer group or something :)
I'm definitely shy about sharing my writing, so I don't know how much I'd post myself, but I'm happy to share synopsis and bits and pieces for sure! Though, same as you, I tend not to share my work on public forums haha~ 😄
I'm writing a fantasy novel this year, - like most years LOL - what's everyone else planning on writing? :)
I've got a sci-fi going, but I work on my three fantasy novels when I've hit writer's block on that one.
Here we are less than 10 days away from November and I’m scrapping all my planning... thought of a new idea that won’t leave me alone so I’m going to try and run with it. This is now my third idea I’m plotting out for NaNo 2019 ?
How’s everyone doing? Getting excited? Or nervous?
