Naoto - thought we could use an admin only discussion thread here for things we might want to talk about with each other.
- any thoughts?
For example -
I have a few comments/suggestions:
The Admin Rules say breakable items should be less than 110K each but the Breakable and One Time Use Fund Thread sets the limit at 150K - which would you like it to be? fixed
I've noticed that there is still a lot of confusion about when to claim wins. I would like to suggest the following change to the post for winning items:
DO NOT COLLECT YOUR FIFTH PRIZE! CLOSE THIS PAGE OR WAIT ON IT AT YOUR 5th win (your prize will be available on your stats page later)!!!
The weapon resets anytime someone collects their 5th/10th drop NOT 5 wins in a row. If your battling pet already has some wins please remember to include those when counting to five
Please wait until someone posts in this thread that the weapon is no longer working or until an admin posts to collect your last win
If you close your page you can collect your prize here on the STATISTICS page:
WINNING ITEM:
[item2=item name here]
I think adding those lines should help with most of the confusion I've seen. (Any suggestions on how to improve the wording to be more clear?) done
I'd like to suggest that we all start working off of the new Member List Weapon Assignments in Progress (you may already be doing this, I can't tell if we're all using it or not). We can lock the old master list and keep it for reference but put all updates in the new format. That way, inactive users from the old list will be automatically dropped and any active users will get added back into the new list as they complete their page testing. We may need to put it in the member accessible forums. If not, then we at least need to provide page links when we assign pages to members to test.
I'd also like to suggest that we make it clear somehow in our open forum that new members need to be ASSIGNED to a page by an admin. I have found people saying that they looked at our (not always up to date) weapon list, picked a page and done the testing and then wanting to be added to the group. I don't want to say no, they've invested sP and time and we certainly want members like that, but it often leaves some pages with multiple working testers and other pages being ignored which is less effective for all of us. I know we will need to have more testers at the lower end of the weapon tiers. Not every has a higher tier pet and winning weapons are often Tier 1 and 2. But we do need some method to try to spread our coverage. This just gets harder as our group grows. Any help/ideas from my fellow admins on how to get this to work?
I noticed Dr. Jeff found three winners in a row last night and that Reo did the same recently. Has anyone thought about/got any ideas about whether the new weapon is not completely random? At least for some of the quick resets, it seems the winners are staying in the same users weapon sets. This last topic could certainly be opened up for full group discussion/thought if we think it's worth spending time on.
This is a great idea, we definitely need one :) For your questions
I was also going to make a tutorial on how to make battling faster by using the notebook widget with quicklinks and pet ordering.
These two could probably be merged into one:
DO NOT COLLECT YOUR FIFTH PRIZE! CLOSE THIS PAGE OR WAIT ON IT AT YOUR 5th win (your prize will be available on your stats page later)!!!
The weapon resets anytime someone collects their 5th/10th drop NOT 5 wins in a row. If your battling pet already has some wins please remember to include those when counting to five
Or since has already tried to split up stuff in the old list, maybe use bold, italics or colors to note who has been active within the last X amount of days. I know this weekend I was trying to use the Item testing thread to see which pages had recent activity before assigning new members a page.
Yes, the post is getting long (although part of that is the image which we seem to really need to keep). Wasn't sure how to merge those two lines, anyone have a better wording?
We would still use the Item Testing Updates thread coordinated with the new list which would replace the old Master Weapon/User List.
Your suggestions sound just right to me.
I like ideas 3 and 4 especially. Just so long as all those weapon testing posts are in the same place, I'm good. I've been using the old testing thread, since I thought that was the only one where we've been tracking the last time items checked. If this changes, I'd appreciate being given a ping. It would be nice to clear out old posts that aren't being updated, make things a little more organized.
The way some people spell makes me wonder about their pronunciation. My CW shop, and my ping group
I think that is right about the post being too long. I believe that many people who are eager to claim the prizes only check the winning item and glimpse the picture and red writing without thoroughly reading it. We need to make a few things clear:
1.) That everyone understands that, per pet, the weapon not just resets (as that implies starting over with the same weapon) but changes upon every claimed fifth win. So, it changes in increments of five.
2.) The picture would better work if it was cropped to show only the 'see results' part so people can very easily see that clicking that button for every fifth win changes the weapon. That way, people see what they should not do.
3.) Ping the # trolling group once it becomes clear that the weapon has changed so that people who are still online can retest their weapons and not waste time battling with no way to win.
4.) Maybe putting the winning weapon under a 'spoiler' bar would help people to see that warning before immediately scrolling to see the item alone.

I like :) And I've been doing already c:
I'm currently making a picture+text tutorial for a a bunch of troll related things. I can include the no prize claiming thing and every grand total of 5 wins resting the weapon thing in it too.
- good points.
Yes, but explaining even more makes the post longer and less likely to be read. Do you have any ideas on how to word the post to make it clearer but not too long?
I think cropping the picture is a good idea. I have seen some users asking whether it was okay to claim ANY wins, so the emphasis on fifth (tenth, ...) is needed somehow. The picture didn't seem to do that when it was being used alone. Maybe editing the wording on the picture? Maybe taking the instructions for how to actually get back to your prize and putting them separately, rather than copy them into each winning item would also help?
We're already doing that to tell them to start testing again.
It would be interesting to try that and see if it helped.
Hmmm, , I wonder if there is any way to make taking the tutorial be a requirement to join the group for new members?
It could be! I was making it mostly to help people with faster testing and battle entry. But I can add other things in to make it like a newbie to the group tutorial too c:
For the third point, I don't know if everyone does it every single time. I just wanted to let the admins know to also ping this, and not just wins.
As for making the post clearer... In addition to the cropped image with red text pointing to, circling around, and instructing everyone, the wording should be something like 'do not click to see your results after beating the troll for the nth time. This will change the weapon again. You can either choose to stay on the page or leave it, but do not claim your prize until we have given everyone the notice that the weapon has changed.' And then, perhaps under another spoiler with the text saying 'what does this mean?' so that people can see when to stop claiming their prizes and, if still confused, can open the spoiler to read more. It keeps the important part short, and the explanation part is there for those who are unclear. Also remember to keep that part short as well, and remind people that it is their responsibility to keep track of their wins against the troll.
That's just a draft, obviously, but it gets to the point in a way everyone can understand and if they don't, they can click to read more since most people, if they don't understand the instructions, will then stop to read them before going off into battle.

That idea sounds great, but there is something that is not accounted for, and that's the fact that anyone can up and read the forum post to check for the winning item. Allowing people into the ping group gets them aware of events faster, of course, but anyone can just pop in to check.
Here is what I suggest: put the rules in the smail that are somewhat vague and have them smail back to reiterate the points, and that gives them the opportunity to ask questions that they might otherwise have asked -- because really, no one reads the terms of service stuff. Except me, but most everyone doesn't.
Alternatively, you could give them those instructions, make them a minute amount clearer, and in the same smail give them a test that they must answer back, in their own words, correctly before being allowed to join the group. That way we should be able to tell who to let in and who just copied and pasted.
There should be at least two admins to do this, for different shifts. If someone live in a drastically different time zone from Subeta's, or EST, have them handle the midnight shift. During the day, have them smail someone else. If a shift is about to change, let the person wanting to join know that, and give them a name, and that they will hand their application over to the other shift. So one admin, whose shift is about to end, copies the message to the other admin who then handles those duties for their shift. Set up times you can reliably be available for and include those in the FAQ.
This still won't stop the people from outside coming in and checking, but it gives us an opportunity to give the user wanting in a list of pages that are not being checked regularly and to choose one.

non-members cannot see our forum group posts or pings... We have confirmed this a couple days ago.
Almost done tutorial ;3;
While the smail idea is good, I think it's starting to ask too much of members and admins... We're swamped just keeping things up to date.
Oh goodness, I am late to the party! And there are so many words... Okay, coffee, and I'll give it another shot. If I don't post with actual input soon, I didn't finish reading/posting before the kiddo's dr. appt. (in an hour) but I for sure will after that.
At first glance my input is yay for moving the linked page list to the public forums, but only the assignment by page spoiler part. Then the links are there for all to access and any obvious holes in coverage are visible to all.
I know, and I knew it while writing the idea as well that it was a lot to ask. I think I honestly forgot about reading the part where no one can see the forums that aren't in this group. My medication causes anterograde amnesia in some people, and I'm definitely one of them. I have a hard time remembering what I ate for dinner last night, let alone what I read or heard a week ago. Sorry 😞

Made tutorial over here TUTORIALS! ;3; @ arixen @ badblacksheep @ Ajavi @ Enyo @ sonata @ Grishiu @ Jess @ Tenka @ shylarah @ Kellijuana @ Pseudonym
- Wow - those look really good.
I had no idea you could use the Subeta Notepad Widget like that. I love the first tutorial.
For the second tutorial, I suggest the following:
1) The winning weapon will reset when prizes are dropped for any win that is a multiple of five. This is not when you win five times with the current winning weapon, but when you have completed the fifth or tenth, or fifteenth win, etc. with ANY weapon. For example, if you start using the current winning weapon with a pet that has already beaten the troll 3 times, then you can finish your first new battle, but need to stop before finishing the second battle because it is your pet's fifth win and would cause a weapon reset.
When you have killed the troll in your last battle DO NOT CLICK SEE RESULTS INSTEAD CLOSE YOUR WINDOW. Clicking SEE RESULTS gives you your special drop and RESETS THE WINNING WEAPON. That means it stops working for everyone else and we all have to go retest our weapons to find the new winner.😦
then add your picture as before. The picture text should probably be changed to match the new instructions - wait for the admin ping.
as is
I don't think you should suggest using the FORFEIT link from the Notepad to claim prizes. I know it gets to the right page, but members will get really used to clicking the forfeit battle link when they arrive that way and it can become automatic. I suggest just posting the regular link to the statistics page instead. (I know this is being super cautious, but I'm just concerned that someone will blame us if they accidentally forfeit their winning battle and lose their drops after carefully waiting. I don't want the word "forfeit" in their brain when they go to collect their win.)
What a great job. I can't believe you put that all together so quickly!
Changed up the claiming pictures and post. Good? The first tutorial makes it super speedy to test, even on mobile ;w;
I put those changes in :) @ tenka nevermind x.x cleaned the photo up pretty easily... sorry for the ping >.<
I can change the link name to statistics instead? Or just say in the step You can go to your statistics page to complete your battle and claim your drops? and include the link?
To Do List?
- the revised tutorials look good to me. Also your to do list sounds good. When we ping a new member to tell them we sent the group invite, we can also ping any other members on their page/pages in the same post.
Wanted to ask your opinion on something that just happened. The last winning weapon was Rodent Wailer which is VERY breakable (mostly with a single hit). The price went from 3K to almost 1M in a few minutes while people were trying to battle. I wound up pinging the whole group with the price change in case anyone was lending. Then again, because we felt like no one else would be buying them to fight with. Then again when the weapon finally changed. I think we should have some sort of "official" policy on this. Do we try to end sort of quickly so that people shut out by the price can have a chance? I think maybe yes. Of course, we still want to wait for anyone who does have one/many and is still working. The problem with the middle ping to mention price and ask if anyone is still there is that if no one else posts, you can't ping to officially tell everyone to submit and start the retesting. And of course, it didn't help this time around that there were site errors.
