While there is truly so much to love about Subeta, the pets are in my book (and the books of many others I'm sure)! In the last year of discussion with fellow passionate pet people, we've wandered across several suggestions and ideas for ways to improve the community's experience. Here are the ideas so far; please feel free to provide feedback, add ideas for discussion, etc. I'll try to update this post with ideas from others as things go!

I've ordered the category list based on feedback (and personal feelings lol), so it's more-or-less prioritized based on what impacts the most people / has the biggest impact size / has the most support. For the latter categories, I've italicized these and made them first.

IMPROVEMENTS TO READING

Why? For example, to get all my pets to the top tier of their jobs I need to read around 17,600 books. Buying and then reading 17,600 individual books (esp with clicking through all the pages involved in reading) is mind-numbing to the point of being defeating and demotivating. Of course it should take time to accomplish book goals, but atm it's awful to slog through. I know many feel the same.

  1. "Mass" Reading implemented!

Specifics Is it possible on Kumos (I figure that's easier than legacy to try something new lol) for there to be some way to offer a "scheduled reading" type option that's similar to auto-training in the gym? The way I envision what I'm asking for is a page (maybe a "reading room" that you access via the library?) where you pay to read x # of selected books from your inventory to x pet over the next 24hrs. You would select the pet first, then the reading room will pull up what books are in your inventory and those that your pet has already read will be not selectable. I think if you select the pet first it wouldn't be horrible on the servers to pull up the info. While making it a GA / Sub perk would likely incentivize folks to get those, it's such a QOL thing that putting it behind an IRL paywall seems mean. So I was thinking it could be like autotraining, 25 CSC + X sP to use. Not sure what the limit should be. I mean, realistically for it to be worth it I would think at least 25 books?

  2. Other

  • Make the book package a "stat boost" vs a book so that it can be read multiple times to the same pet and increases int points a range amount (like 5 - 10pts or something) with each use OR create a new item that does this.
  • Be able to sort "Unread Books" by lowest to highest user price

TREASURE CHEST

  1. Mass Remove option (SO MANY people want need this)
  2. Multi or Categorizable TCs
  3. Ability to click and move multiple TC items at once

SPOTLIGHT

[spoiler=Incentivize the Spotlight to support pet-lovers and renew investment in pets sitewide] I'd love to see them find a way to move through the nominations in a more timely manner (as far as I know only one staff member reviews the submissions atm so it's understandable that it takes time) and return to having the spotlight be a daily thing! Then they could even incentivize it a little more by not only having your pet get the trophy on their profile, but having additional, reasonable prizes such as:

  • A random item from a pool of items that are only given out in this context (ex: a wearable little kumos holding a trophy, a themed book, a themed food, etc)
  • 100k sp and 25csc
  • Leveled prizes for achievements regarding # of wins (1, 5, 10, 15, 25, 35, 50, 65, 75, 100) for example:
  • Title at first win, , ,
  • Every 5th win awards 500k sp and 50csc (vs 100k and 25csc)
  • Pet Slot at 50 and 100

Having it moving quicker and more incentivized, they could then likely get more people investing in the site (ex: subscriptions or csc for GA perks, pet slots, csc for potions, etc). They could also have a subscription perk where there are two "queues" and one is reviewed in X number of days or at X% and the other (subscription queue) has a shorter timeline / "better" percentage.

  1. Increase frequency of Spotlight This is the request I see related to spotlight!
  2. Notification when pet has been reviewed (either denial with feedback or notification that they have moved to the spotlight winner queue)
  3. Community review program with checks / balances for nominated pets to remove workload from staff (some folks have pets that have been nominated for a year or more) (quote "a volunteer review team should be considered to help move the queue along. One of the complaints I've seen that have completely discouraged some users is when their pets are rejected after a year. That shouldn't happen.")
  4. Possible second nomination queue for subscription holders that gives some kind of perk related to spotlight, be it a promised time the pet will be reviewed in (for example if the average time to review after nomination is 2m the perk would be that your pet will be reviewed within 1m) or if the queue is well-managed then a perk like if the "chance" of being picked from the winner queue is 1% then yours is 1.25%
  5. Ability to remove historical win and win again for a specific pet (lots of parameters to this, all discussed here)

TRAINING / INT

  1. Ability to select none or training cat. for each pet by making page have drop down menus for each pet or having it like the quickstock page, hit "Train" at bottom.
  2. For all the pets that have finished training in the training center, just need to click one button to take them all out and show a list of all the stats gained (like collect all income) so we no longer need to click "Done" for every single pet.
  3. Be able to use earned EXP from one pet to increase stats for another pet (conversion fee perhaps)
  4. Along with increased payout for some games, perhaps opportunity for relevant stat increase as a prize for some games? Slot machine could include stat increases as a possible prize. Some games could have the perk of a related stat point being given for getting a certain number of points or winning in under a certain number of moves, etc.

JOBS

  1. Collect all income option implemented!!!
  2. Increased levels of jobs
  3. Increased types of jobs (ideas here)

HUNGER / HAPPINESS

  1. Have a way to reduce hunger. This can be done by making the pool usable more than once per day, by creating / modifying special items that increase hunger when fed to pet, or maybe some kind of triggerable (pay for?) buff that keeps hunger at 0 for a set amount of time.
  2. Mass-Eating option
  3. Have a way to "cleanse" the "read list" and "eaten list" (quote "I like the idea of a paid option for the pet to forget it'd read books / eaten food (whether that was able to be a "100% forget" option, or if it would be a certain number of items) - that would also help when adopting a pet from someone else, and wanting to either only read certain themes of books, or feed certain categories of food to suit their new character.").
  4. Allow pets to play with toys even if their happiness is full (have to skip a lot of Drill's quests bc of this).

SUBSCRIPTION RELATED

Quote by Estelle
As someone who has no interest in CWs, I&;d love a more pet-geared subscription tier too. With prizes of:</p>
<ul>
<li>A pet voucher that you can redeem for one free custom overlay, color, or species change of your choice. Similar to the loyalty totem. Maybe this wouldn&;t be as popular, given it&;s not as transferable as CW vouchers, and there&;s only so many pets a person can have (as of this moment).</li>
<li>Unique stat booster that increases any stat of your choice by 25-50 points, similar to the loyalty item (but not every stat).</li>
<li>Unique TC booster that increases slots by 25.

OTHER

  1. Personal > Pets > Select Pet - this page to show the same info that is included on the pet overview page ("Pet" page w. all pets)
  2. Be able to swap Sp / Color between two owned pets vs names (name stays tied to ID) - perk or paid is fine, but omg
  3. Implement personalized tag system for pets to load only certain tags in certain areas? 's post - on pg 2
  4. Ability to buy in quantity from special shops (related to reading goals)
  5. Toy collection / toys played with for pets like books read and food eaten
  6. More games/activities we can do with our pets. (Like Rock, Paper, Scissors). Or our active pet could have more interaction with some of the existing dailies? Pets with better stats could increase the odds of finding the treasure in fishing or could help us fish up a bonus item in underwater fishing, for example.

REMOVED

  1. Perhaps create some polls about which currently "missing" species / color combinations people would most like to see released and prioritize releasing those pets through the end of the year? (I'm not an artist so I haven't the foggiest how much labor and time goes into creating art for a new species / color combo so please don't feel like I'm at all disregarding the work that goes into the amazing art on this site!) (Quote "I really don't like the idea of species/color combo releases being popularity-based, especially when they're so infrequent already. My favorite species is the hipottu and I know no one else cares about it lol, I'd never see another hipottu again if pet releases were popularity-based. I'd rather keep things so that pet releases go to a potential variety of species and not just the popular ones. I think some of the best pet art onsite is for the less popular species, I don't want them to officially be less of a priority...")

    My Additional General Thoughts
  2. I think there's a balance that needs to be struck with all these things - Subeta is a treasure and shouldn't ever feel like a "pay to play" site, but given the current situation it's also reasonable to make certain highly valued perks part of subscriptions since the site needs funds and since it would likely mean allocating staff time away from other things.
  3. Same goes for things like training, jobs, etc - it should still take time and feel like it requires effort to achieve goals, otherwise the site loses some of the time investment and emotional investment for / from the community. At the same time, certain things feel so frustrating or mind-numbing (looking at you reading) that it's almost self-defeating. Given feedback here and other places, the spotlight currently borders on this as well.

I would gladly pay via subscription for a mass-book reading perk. It is painful when you have too many books to read to a single pet. Try having to read 100 different books 20 times over. You'll hate yourself after the 3rd book.

Thank you for the input! It's so mindnumbing o.o Nothing reminds me to take me ADHD meds like trying to sit here and click through 100 books lol I've been working through reading 5 - 6 pets at a time, which means lots of multiples. Because of that I also had this idea (added to first post):

"And/or I would love a "reading room" that branches off from the library! In the reading room, and books in your inventory show up (duplicates are individual items not x6 under one item) and you can select under each item who to read it to. If you can only read one book to a pet each minute or something like that, that's fine! Or with the new reputation system maybe it's accessible after you do a certain number of quests with Alexander?"

OMG YES YES YES on the Subscription add the mass reading ability to one pet or 20 pets or whatever! All at once! Mind numbing is exactly how I feel about it now. Bleh! BUYING them is bad enough in the first place. PLEASE we need this perk.

I have been asking for the "Collect all income option" for a long time. Again, mind numbing with over ten pets, but 50 - 100... OMG! I absolutely HATE it and I really want it to be easy. It should be and could be!

And for God's sake and my sanity PLEASE make a mass TC removal available! Oh it's so awful now I just can't stand it. It takes all bloody day for some of them. And most of the time you have to click on the same ones multiple times. Gah!

Add all these to the Subscription too. Maybe have options so people could choose what's important to them. I will pay more for these and be so happy! PLEASE make it so.

[Kiss=Chrysariel] Wishlist Come check out my shop! =<^.^>= Always willing to haggle if the price is right. : Looking for and

I really really want the mass removal for TCs.

But most of all... please please please get the Pet Spotlight queue moving again. I know pets don't bring money into the site like CWs do, but well, Subeta is a pet site too...

- Remove limit on training one stat relative to another (ex: why do I have to train all stats if I&;m only training so I can get job promotions and those only care about level and strength? I&;m already spending a ton of time and money on those two + intelligence).

wdym by this? you can train only level and strength if you're just doing it for the job promotions. i've done it lots of times. nothing's forcing you to train the other stats.

Always and forever support mass reading. I've done this with 50+ battle pets and it never gets easier or less boring to read hundreds of books to each pet.

"Give us more ways to earn intelligence, like playing some of the games?" This already exists with the mystic spindles game. Play the game before you start reading to a pet since the cost in game points increases with your pet's intelligence. That said, a wider variety of game options to earn intelligence would be nice.

There are also stat boosters that raise your pet's intelligence. You do need to read a book after boosting to get the increase in AP. You can read on the 16th point to get the AP or you can use a ton of boosters and read a book when you are done to get all the AP owed your pet.

There are guides in the battle forum that can help you fill in some of the things available on site that you may not be aware of for battle, pet training and related things.

Thank you for the support! Books are for sure the top on my list.

Thank you for the support! And congrats on your spotlight win today! :D

Really?! I swear I remember there being a thing where once you trained a certain stat to a certain % above the others it wouldn't show up on the dropdown menu as an option anymore until you brought some of the others up. Now I'm totally wondering where I got that from xD

Thank you for the support on the book idea! One of the things I like to do with mystic spindles is to save up points for a while before starting to cash them in because the more points you have the bigger the discount you get! It's a small difference, but can add up. I don't really battle, but have been dabbling with one pet. Mostly it's just for the job levels and wanting anything other than reading 260 books to almost 60 pets lol.

haha thanks although I feel terrible for complaining about the spotlight and then winning the next day 😅

I should add that I also support features to read multiple books at once, and collect all income. I personally like collecting income individually, but if I had as many pets as some of y'all, I definitely wouldn't! And reading is tedious even for me, and aside from Tak, I only read to my pets to raise intel for job positions!

I was just going to ask how long it normally took to get a spotlight and seeing that people have waited that long, it doesn't seem worth the effort. I feel like just making up the profile and writing a story and not bothering to wait just seems more worth it.

I agree with all of these suggestions 🤞-that it happens. I do wish they would do something about pet hunger. Staff has told us before that they dont want us hoarding stuff, but I have 10 pages of food in my vault that say otherwise 😒 I wish there was an item that could be thrown into the rift that would give out endless rift-a buff that for an certain amount of time a pet can eat all within that time limit.

Hahaha I felt like that was very serendipitous xD And the feedback is still 100% valid! I go back and forth on the income. Yes it takes some time with a lot of pets, but it's really not that bad because it's easy to click, use keyboard to go back, click, use keyboard to go back. It's also a good way to get a lot of page visits in short time, which increases chances of random events! I think it also makes the jobs semi-interactive? Of all the ideas I personally put collect all income at/near the bottom in terms of priority. I actually included it only because I've seen others ask for it multiple times and wanted to include it for feedback / input lol.

I think atm you have to have a personal / internal drive for completing pets. Spotlight just isn't that much of a motivation atm because the time it takes to potentially win after nomination. I'd love to see them find a way to move through the nominations in a more timely manner (as far as I know only one staff member reviews the submissions atm so it's understandable that it takes time) and return to having the spotlight be a daily thing! Then they could even incentivize it a little more by not only having your pet get the trophy on their profile, but having additional, reasonable prizes such as:

    • Title at first win, , ,
    • Every 5th win awards 500k sp and 50csc (vs 100k and 25csc)
    • Pet Slot at 50 and 100

Having it moving quicker and more incentivized, they could then likely get more people investing in the site (ex: subscriptions or csc for GA perks, pet slots, csc for potions, etc). They could also have a subscription perk where there are two "queues" and one is reviewed in X number of days or at X% and the other (subscription queue) has a shorter timeline / "better" percentage.

Sounds like making reading easier would be loved for many reasons, and having an improved "level" of this could also be a subscription thing.

Circling back to the heart of your comment - personally I still aim to have all my pets win the official spotlight, but to me "completing" the pet (getting them nominated or getting them to a state where I feel like they are fully represented the way I want) is the real goal and where I get the feeling of accomplishment. I've found a lot of joy in groups of fellow pet fans who are "invested" in each other's accomplishments (in a sense) and celebrate together when we each "complete" a pet. I still hope to win the spotlight and am super excited when I do, but I can't hang too much weight on it because of the current state of things for the site. Hopefully as things continue to improve for the site, the spotlight will get more love again.

Thank you for the support! I'll add hunger to the list above, that's a great point! Maybe items that decrease hunger (I saw that there are supposed to be some but they're not working?), or a "cleansing" option, or some kind of buff like you suggested!

that's only for level. once a stat has been trained to 2.5x your pet's level, the level needs to be increased before that stat can be trained any more. but the other stats have no bearing on one another.

omg I would LOVE a mass remove option for TCs. ;_; Sometimes I decide I want to do something else with one of my pets with a big TC, or adopt it out, and having to manually remove 70+ items is a huge pain. Even if we could only remove up to 25 items at a time (same as mass adding), that'd still be a lot faster and more convenient.

Would metaphorically kill for a mass remove treasure chest item feature. Metaphorically kill. I like to do big pet TCs but some of my pets have been revamped significantly over the years, and have items in their TCs that are no longer relevant to who their characters are. I would love to go and remove items from their TCs, but it's so mind-numbing having to sit there and do them one by one!

I'd also loooooove the ability to mass read books to pets. I recently read over 400 books to one of my pets and it took several hours of buying and clicking, and more clicking, and more clicking... I only ever read books to one of my pets, but if it were easier to do so, I'd probably bother to read to more of my pets and care about their overall stats more.

You're welcome! It's a good idea. :) Someone shared the Clensing Pool option but it's 250k and I believe it can only be used once a day, so better than nothing but not ideal given the whole picture. I wonder if they could do it tiered, like you can do it x number of times a day and it costs a little more each time (per day, not more each day), but starts (much) lower? Items that can make your pet hungry would be great too!

omg yes. Thank you for the support, I know this is something a lot of people want!

Metaphorically kill. LOL You hit the nail on the head - things being so mind-numbing discourages folks from being invested in the site! And that's a capital b Big Problem in my book. We need a community that's invested in and excited about pets / the site! :D

Hahaha, I'm glad you like the idea! I love thinking of ways the site can better support us pet folks while also drawing more people in and making pets something that brings engagement to the site again! I mean, working on pets enthusiastically can make for a lot of activity on and across the site, community interaction, and may even increase funds for the site if people buy subscriptions or CSC because of their goals. -pokes site with a stick- do it xD

That tier system might work👍 I’ve been battle farming with and it has lowered hunger sometimes. I got from 10 vault pages to 4 now after maybe two weeks🤔 A lot more than pools currently. I thought way back when there was a berry from the cash shop that lowered it, but it turned out it actually increased it😅 It might have been for keeping hunger full for battle lol.
