Every 5 purchases I make from the shop search, I get this message: "Your most recent purchase failed. You have to wait a few seconds before purchasing again"
I checked, it really is every 5. That seems like it was a recent implementation. Hoarding items for RB and other things is one of the things I do on subeta and spend a lot of time on. And now I have to wait like 5 seconds every 5 purchases? smh I hope this is a temporary thing to counter the current lag, because otherwise.... Well, I guess I'll have to find something else to spend my time on...
"Hoarding Items" isn't something that we want to encourage. Giving all users a chance to get items, and making it harder to just run down and buy up thousands of items from user shops to hoard.
This limit is staying, although the mechanics might change (number of items, number of seconds cooldown, etc) if we find that it is too restrictive for most gameplay. For example, it shouldn't effect anyone who is doing regular quests.
We are also looking at making changes to the recycle beast (different item requests for each user, or other changes) to make it less required to hoard items in order to upsell other users :)

I'm hoarding to release back into the system mostly.... I already got a slap on the wrist for that and now this.... Fun. I saw someone on the discord complaining about it too, who was doing regular quests, so it probably needs some fine tuning already.... Also I resent the 'upselling' comment (especially the smiley face after it...); If I didn't do what I did, most regular users would have to spend far more for their RB points, since within an hour, all the items cost at least 5k. Excuse me for wanting to make a little profit for the time spent on it. But whatever, if this is the way you want the site to go, nothing I can do about it. I'm sad to see my main source of enjoyment/time spent going away. -shrugs- It is what it is.
Maybe if some people would stop pricing things waaaaaaaaay below the other prices on shop search, this wouldn't be an issue. I recently had a 90k item sell for a measly 2k. 2000 sps. When I checked shop search I was livid. I don't mind a few thousand under lowest, but that is too much. I have too many shop items to go hand price everything, I pay for use of the auto pricer and this lowballing/trying to manipulate the marketplace is making it not fun to rs and use an item I'm paying for.
- Thank you so much for implementing this.
OMG I LOVE this change! Now maybe we can stop the undercutting craze that’s driving people crazy! Thank you Keith!!
What about mass buying severely undercut items to frag?
I just spent hours cleaning out a shop that had most items under 1k and many of them were normally well over 50k 😩 the only reason I bothered was because every item they had priced like that, was also in my shop so I had to pull everything and leave it unpriced. I agree it’s really gotten out of hand.

- This is to stop people from severely undercutting those items to start with. Buying lowest on shop search isn't affected in the least.
I'm glad to see this. Perhaps I can go back to autopricing in peace now, without looking over my shoulder.
Hoarding to release back into the system is still hoarding, and this is a change to discourage that to ensure that everyone has access to items in the user shops. Like I said in the discord, this was an entirely valid way to play the game, and I'm putting up some changes to restrict that style of gameplay. I sincerely don't want you to take it as me saying that you're cheating or abusing the system, just that as the userbase gets smaller and smaller (natural for a game 18 years old) the amount of people who can create a buffer against that style of gameplay is reduced as well.
I'm going to continue tweaking the numbers to ensure that folks doing quests and going about regular business (and even some degree of buying up items, this adds a timer and cooldown, doesn't completely stop you from doing it!) don't hit it or feel any kind of pressure to buy slower.

Yeah I know, I was just wondering if it’s okay to do so when we do see them. It will be great to be able to autoprice my shop and not have to take half of it back out lol

Except it is. If you want to buy cheap items to frag, you'll be spending twice as much time as you would before...
I think the percentage wise warning on something on the auto pricer would help with that. I don't think this will help with people pricing 500k items for 2k at all....
I think it will. When people price a 90k item at 2k at the start of the day when no one is online, then they wait for everyone to autoprice, just to round up all of the 2k’s to resell. Because it’s going to be a massive hassle to buy up 10-20 under priced items… per item.

For the few (10-20) items, it won't be a huge hassle. It'll take a bit longer, but it's still very possible.... I worry it won't fix that issue, while impacting those trying to frag or buy RB items. (And not hoarding.)
I also said this in the discord, but these are bandaid steps to the larger issue of where items come from and how they're removed from the site.
The recycle beast and fragging were bandaids we applied years (.. 10+ years, omfg 🧓) ago that don't make much sense anymore.
An ❗ ENTIRELY HYPOTHETICAL CHANGE ❗could be something like:
❗ AGAIN, I HAVE NOT WRITTEN A SINGLE LINE OF CODE FOR THE ABOVE ❗ but that is just an example of large ways that we can tweak the site to make less items flying out of the ether only to be fragged later.

[edit] wrote this before keith's post just now... idk nevermind lol
I don't love it from a fragging standpoint, but if it actually helps, I can live with it. I did 15 Saggitarius quests as fast as I could without running into the waiting period (still possible I got just happened to get enough items that were available in my own shops or in main shops to avoid it) so it seems like the main time it would hit me is just with fragging which isn't super harsh imo.
I'm not sure how I feel about the hypothetical change of removing fragging though. I can kind of see where it's coming from but imo the crystal shop has been a really good place for dumping old, retired items that need to be brought back somehow. I'd hate to see that turn into something random (or just switch the way those items are brought back from one, relatively easily earnable currency to something else)
I'm fine with this change but hooray for my good luck for having this introduced right after I'm back from my hiatus. Catching up with everything seemed impossible but now I'm 100% sure of it.
Whining aside, I do have one question/worry: some users undercut prices with no ill intentions, which means (I assume) that undercutting won't completely disappear from the site. However, without hoarders the odds of an item getting stuck at that lower price is bigger, and there will be more time for a second, third, fourth undercut.... With less of a chance of a "recovering" of the price. If this turns out being the exception of the exception, fine, but I have no idea how common "legitimate" undercuts are.
Aww man...it's the best way for me to get rid of all my junk otherwise it sits in my vault rotting away. xD
