Clearly we talk way too much!!

From the previous thread @ Raven Niamh wants to know what you're talking about - apparently there's no such thing as "too many pets" 😇

Erm I was going to say no, but this morning Dad put the milk in the fridge and the shelf broke on the fridge door.... it's now held together with duct tape, but that obviously isn't going to hold for long! So at the very least, it's now even more urgent to get a replacement fridge :K

That does not sound like they really thought things through there. o-o Yikes! We had most of our classes in the same classroom from 1-9 grade. (with some exceptions). So that was not too much of an issue usually.

People that use signlanguage must be happy to meet someone in retail that can communicate well with them I am sure. Welsh seems like it would be hard to learn tho! o-o

Indeed. Booked tickets to visit my bestie in November and an event for the organization. Lectures from doctors etc. and socalization. They pretty much "opened" up now, and we have no restrictions as far as covid goes. o-o I am excited!

nods it wasn't their best plan! Did you have the same teacher for each class then, or was it the teacher that moved between classroom rather than the students? There was a small house on the edge of the school grounds that was the music classroom when I started at that school - so you didn't disturb any other classes when you were playing the drums :P But eventually they changed it and had the music room as part of the main school buildings ;)

Yeah, out of the two, I think sign language would be the hardest to learn, as the grammar is totally different! I have tried learning a bit of Welsh from the DuoLingo app, and so far it's not as challenging as I'd expected.... but then I've only got as far as the basics!

Maybe Niall could call it a zoo and charge people to come and see all his pets? :P

I had a quick search online today (well, spent all afternoon on my "quick" search) and found.... nothing that fits the space (other than three which are smaller in capacity than what we have). So I've told Dad he needs to have a look for a new one 😇

:P great minds think alike (even if I clearly think a lot slower!) ;)

The main problem with the space is that there's only about another inch we can add on for the width, as it can't be closer to the wall (otherwise the door won't open) and it can't be too much wider the other side as then it'd be too close to the cooker :K ....what we really need is to redo the entire kitchen to make it work for 'full-size' appliances, but that's even less likely to actually happen!

yeah I was thinking maybe loosing a few cupboards or something

nods it'd definitely be losing some of the worktop space (it's kind of 'dead space') next to the sink, but that won't make enough on its own, as we'd need to add in a wider washing machine, wider oven and of course a wider fridge freezer.... so that'd mean losing a cupboard from the other side of the kitchen, and maybe having a narrow fridge by the cooker, and an undercounter freezer the other side (which should also give us more fridge / freezer capacity). The main thing with that plan, is it would require the entire kitchen to be ripped out and redone as the cupboards are all built in so you can't just take one out and put something else in its space :K

if you guys can't find the fridge you need does it sound like your folks would wind up doign all this with a contractor?

nods yeah, the plan would be to use a kitchen design service from a kitchen company (going on the theory that they know how to fit things into an awkward space!), then get the floor and windows / back door done (again with contractors doing the work) at the same time. Mum's been on about getting that done for years though, so I honestly don't see us actually getting closer to achieving it!

maybe this might force the issue if finding a fridge for the space is not working

Hopefully it will encourage her to be thinking more seriously about it, at the very least!

I've been saying for the last couple of years that the fridge is knackered (I'm not happy with it not keeping the temperature low when it's hot weather), but Mum seems determined to keep it limping along.... my concern is that eventually either more bits will break off, or it'll stop working completely - and then we'd end up in a worse mess as it'd be essential to find a replacement really quickly!

good luck with that. I agree and if the shelf has broken it's really time to call it quits before it's like not working on a hot day and you've got nothing to keep the food from going off. That's why we said good bye to our freezer. It was struggling and puddling and so on.

definitely - I mean we've got plenty of time before the weather should heat up again, but it really needs replacing before next summer (and ideally before that, given the problem with the shelf in the door!) Oddly enough, the freezer section is working perfectly fine o.O

How's your day going?

[edit] I love the white cat & forest outfit you've got today! :D

Every class all through my schoolyears (except uni/college) we had one main teacher, along with our class (that we shared all subjects with). Hopefully that made sense? Our main teacher tended to have more than one subject with us, and we would have different teachers besides that. Not sure how it works where you live? :)

That makes sense for music classes making a lot of noise. :) 1-6 grade there we two main buildings with offices and classroom (not that big- only one class for each schoolyear actually). and a seperate building for gym class and swimming lessons. :) 7-9th grade there were 3 buildings. One main with classrooms, one with offices, and a seperate one for arts, cooking etc. We went to the local pool next door for swimming and gym lessons. Puh. lol

I guess I could try that app for learning some french or even some german (that I have mostly forgotten how to speak or write :P). Does it tell you how to pronounce things as well?

Thanks, I am sure I will. :D What are you upto today?

that makes sense nods In junior school (up to the age of 11) we had one teacher for the whole year, but once we were in senior school (age 11 - 16, then I stayed at the same school for my A-levels for two more years, instead of going to college) there was a different teacher for each subject. I guess that was a good thing for the teachers as well, seeing as they could specialise in one subject rather than needing to know how to teach the other classes as well!

Swimming lessons stopped when I was 10 (apparently the school didn't have funding available for the older kids), but we always had to get a coach into town for those, as we used the sport centre swimming pool :P

And yep, the app does both written and spoken, so it gets you to listen to a word or phrase then say what it means, and also to pronounce a word or phrase ;) It does give you some helpful hints at the beginning, by having a little cartoon picture under the word so you are more likely to know what the word means 😇

I might do some painting since I wound up too sick to do it yesterday but not sure yet. You?

looks like I missed the ping somehow. yeah I think so too otherwise it'll go on a super inconvenient time :/ eh yesterday I was too sick to do much and still wound up having to go to the chemist for my allergy tabs and rice which we needed for dinner. Only problem wound up being that dinner was so salty it tasted like eating the ocean. Dad ate it but mum and I wound up with take away. And my tummy went off again. so it wasn't the best day honestly. THank you :D lol I needed to use again with how much the ha cost me :P

aww that stinks having to go out when you're not feeling 100%, and even worse when dinner ended up so salty :K was that down to an error of judgement on how much salt went into it? What was the take away you had in the end?

hehe I can't blame you on that ;)

not really. we tried a new recipe but it called for more salt than we are used to. Mum doesn't flavour much with salt at all. We had Chick-fil-a which is kinda a Mcdonalds like place but with chicken. loving the new sail boat ha
