I'm struggling with the music lesson, because jazz is kinda my least favourite type of music, but I hope I have it done by the weekend. xd I've taken some notes already, though.

August is coming up fast! I still have to do the House Mascots assignment. The Doxycide one was fun because I like to RP, but I'm going to have a harder time with the Wizzjazz too. I like jazz but I don't know much about it.

materializes out of the mists of the internet...that is finally working semi-well again!! Bran is down to the wire but just turned in the poem and about to work on the HA which should be easy so long as the wardrobe plays nicely with my wifi. Then, yep I have a ton of writing to do this weekend. I've jotted down some ideas, but I have to flesh them out now.

I finally managed to finish the Wizzjazz assignment. So glad. Even though I don't like Jazz, I've watched one hour of documentary about it by a famous musician because it was so interesting to listen to him. oo

Thanks! I try to make Ivy a fun character to read. She's a lot less proper than Poppy. Her main concerns are her social life (friends and boys), and having a good time. She's a more mischievous person and doesn't have to worry about being a prefect or anything like that. Corvus is an interesting guy, and a fitting match for Elizabeth imo.

I feel so embarrassed with my poem, writing poems is really something I have no talent for haha. My entry is the perfect example. hides in shame The jazz essay wasn't easy either (there are jazz songs that I enjoy but I have no clue about the style of music itself tbh) but I tried my best to write a text that at least made sense in a way and I enjoyed reading the OP text. c:

Way to go everyone for taking the lead, keep up the good work! :D I'm sorry I missed the Magizoology lesson, I've been sick for about a month, and my dad just returned from a 2 week stay in the hospital. I was bummed because that is one of my character's favorite subjects. I have been trying my best to keep on top of the challenges, but I'm really sorry if I miss one or two. =(

Mhm....I was thinking about that as well. Actually I'm a bit concerned whether the ingredients I chose are too uncommon. It would be two where I'm unsure - unicorn horn (only using one) and ashwinder eggs. But the rest is pretty common stuff - mandrake...honeywater...so I guess these two special ingredients should be okay? xd

(I should include the volunteer's problems. xd Your number is 4. Your volunteer has steam coming out of his ears. He also seems incapable of speaking. The ashwinder eggs are used for ague in the hp universe (an illness (such as malaria) characterised by alternating fits of fever, chills, and sweating. I thought it would fit in right with the steam. The unicorn horn would be powdered and added because in classical myths unicorn horns have purification properties which are used to dissolve poisons. So it just enhances the effet of the potion. )

And I'm wondering about the point where it says we are supposed to make a potion of our own design...wouldn't take that more time than two hours to develope two completely new potions? In my draft, Corvus is taking quick notes on useful ingredients and combines them on their effectiveness.

My clean copy has around 550 words by now and I haven't even started with the potion brewing. (Hope I didn't miss any word limitation xd ). I allowed myself enough time on thursday and friday to finish it. Still trying to render a special touch to Corvus' way of talking and doing things as he's obviously born in America, but strives to be as British as possible. xD

The other one, the doctor wants to run some tests before he decides whether my dad needs it or if they can treat him another way.

No problem! It's easy to have that stuff slip your mind, especially when you are hard at work on something else. ;)

Hmm, well I think since you used only two uncommon ingredients, you should be fine. The task does say that there are some quite rare ingredients available to you. I also did some research, and unicorn horn was used in a first year potion at Hogwarts, so I think it is quite possible that they would have that available. =)

It definitely sounds like those two ingredients would fit in with curing your volunteer's symptoms. I was wondering about that too, I think that researching and brewing two completely new potions would be quite time consuming! It sounds like you are being very thorough, which is awesome. :D That must be a challenge writing and explaining everything as he would do it. Well, I supposed I have a bit in common with Corvus, then. I was born here in the states and my dad is American, but my mom is British and I've always felt more at home with her side of the family. My sense of humor is definitely more British, although as you can see I do use American spellings. xD

Ah...I came back so late too this. The first task took more time than planned and then I had to finish some other stuff as well...I've read your suggestions anyway and thank you very much for it. :>

The doctor told my mum to live with the natural hip as long as possible (as this would be more pleasant...it takes a long time to recover, actually learning how to walk again) and she's putting it off as well. Ah, anyway, I'm talking too much about myself oo - hope everything turns out well. :>

Thank you for your research, I really appreciate it. :> I'm glad my entry reads plausible...I've skimmed through the other entries and, well, yeah. xd Had played the the Playstation 3 game of Half-blood prince some days ago and that's where I remembered the Volubilis potion from. xd (the students made it in a potions club, so the ingredients can't be rare if students get their hands on them xd )

Actually, I got a little bit carried away while writing and first made only one potion that cured both ailments...it could have worked, but as the others made two potions as well, I didn't want to ask just yesterday....sooo. XD (Though the steam and the incapability of speaking could have been two related symptons...so that's probably where I got the idea. xd ) I know that Corvus was mostly silent for the task, but his volunteer couldn't speak and Corvus is annoyed by other people easily, so the whole thinking process happened in his thoughts. I hardly think that the judges would go around the champions...like in the movie, they surely sit somewhere and watch from a distance. Corvus could have talked more with the volunteer, but as he was voiceless, he considered as pointless (and shhhh, he's a bit arrogant, lol xd ).

Now that's funny! :D Do you want to live in the UK later? (Funny thing is that the Ilvermorny founder I chose for the HA challenge fell in love with a Scottish witch and moved back to the UK, which is exactly Corvus' plan for the future XD I didn't know that before, but that made so much sense to me that I had to pick Webster Boot xd ) I was forced to learn British English in school and we would get a bad mark if we used 'color' instead of 'colour'. xd
