I love the idea! It could be a fun new feature. Of course, all the ingredient prices began to soar immediately -- that is to be expected. What worries me is that so many recipes call for the same ingredients over and over. This is going to present a huge problem going forward. Will there be additional numbers of these ingredients stocked and/or will they be stocked more frequently in NPC shops? Or is this set up an undeclared rs war?

Yeah I hope they restock more often. Especially considering you do not progress at all if you burn something, so you would literally be wasting SP for nothing.

Otherwise, I love the idea! I just hate that their is no progression if something gets burnt, because that is out of our control. Maybe at least a 12-13% increase?

I like the idea a lot, but I can't even get it to work.

Edit: Waiiiit I think I know what I'm doing wrong.

Yeah, unless the NPC's keep the DC stocked 24/7, this is going to be an awkward restocking proposition. It's too bad there aren't more than one beginning recipe to help spread out the demand for specific items.

The rarities were lowered for some of the specific items that are used frequently. Future baked goods we add will use different oils, etc. :) We tried to vary things where we could! You can currently restock almost all of the ingredients. The only ones you can't come from the space tree on Atebus, which you'll just have to visit every day for the berry you need. You can also try your hand at vending the different ingredients. The Donation Center is being stocked randomly for the first few days. :)

Nope, this is just a new thing you'll be able to do now whenever. :) During holidays we'll add a few themed baked foods (just think of the cute floral things that could happen for Vesnali), and some more generic things throughout the different months.

Good to know some ingredients will become easier to find. :) If the "staples" continue to be a headache to rs after this initial rush, will their rarity be lowered again?

No, they're pretty lowered at the moment! I edited my post a bit to include the fact you can vend a lot of these items (I believe the Celebration machine gives you Food Market items). In general though, once people start moving up the levels I think prices will start to even out. Right now everyone is making the same batch of cookies, which is why I've adjusted the burning chance a tad bit (in the users favor) while keeping an eye on everything :)

The more I see the Bakery page the more I wish it had actual recipes. Everything looks so good. The art for the new items is great.

I really really wish level 1 had more than 1 recipes, I don't really want to have a pile of maple cookies

Sorry to bug you again, but just a heads up that already several "core" ingredients that can't be substituted and are asked for in the large majority of recipes are already essentially gone from the DC, NPC and user shops. This is only going to get worse as more people log on and try to bake.

I have given up -- at least for now. 2 hours combing thru the shops and DC and I can't get baking powder. Who knows how many more tries it will take me to even get the first recipe -- and I'll need the same core ingredients for the other recipes that follow. No sense even trying again until I have a huge stockpile of the core stuff for the repeated attempts. It will be a while. Months maybe?

Can you put the starter kit in the MC for a while?

It's kind of frustrating (and doesn't really make sense) that you only gain XP from successes and you get nothing from burned recipes.

Also, I think there's a bit too much overlap in the specific recipe ingredients. Butter and vanilla extract are some of the most obvious ones. They're standard for a lot of real recipes, of course, but maybe it'd be better to fudge it a little on some of the recipes? (The breads especially would make sense: many bread recipes don't involve fat at all.)

There are over 30k items in the donation center, there is no way you’ve been through all of them to know if they’re all gone or not ;) Like I said, we’re going to be replenishing the DC over the next few days while things settle out, especially for the items to start restocking a bit more (since their rarities have been messed with it’ll take a bit for them to really start restocking).

It’s not even been 24 hours, try not to worry too much. <3 Everyone is currently rushing to get the same item done (which our next batch of new baked goods will include another level 1 item), I truly believe it'll calm down some once people get on different levels and the "newness" of the feature wears off; it helps that I've been adjusting the burning chance levels as the night goes on based on feedback I've been getting.

[edit]

That's one of the things we're looking into, the no exp on burned items. I don't want to make it super easy to advance levels when you've burned something, so we're looking into giving a small amount of xp with each burning. Def something that'll have to wait until normal people are away (aka rest of staff haha).

That is a great idea! It will help keep user shop prices under control as long as people can afford to keep buying the basket for repeated attempts.

It may take more than 2 hours to see all the items in the DC, but doesn't that tell you something? Like I said -- I'm giving up for now. As is, it is frustrating and a huge waste of time. Hopefully that improves over the next few days, but I have my doubts since the demand for the same core ingredients will only increase as the recipes that follow use them as well. Maybe some more substitutions allowed? Like sea salt for salt -- that sort of thing?

High-fives!

I'm always up for money sinks + convenience. I'm using the DC to grab things that are not in the starter pack

Actually we were planning on giving one more round of them as a free gift later in the day (for people that wanted a copy for their treasure chests etc). That's a good idea too, though!

Awesome, thanks!

That's the kind of stuff I'd buy over and over to get to level 1 BILLION EXP, so it would sink lots of my money, haha!

Glad to hear the lack of exp on burned items is being considered at least! Even a small increase would be better than nothing, I think.

You'd run into the same problem though having so many items you can substitute. They'd all get purchased pretty fast. There are just some items we can't avoid using again, but in the case of oils/chocolates/etc, we'll be doing our best to use different things. We've got more items planned to go out through this feature, so soon there will be a lot of things with a lot more choices for items used. :) I still don't think it's much to worry about because soon a lot of the items will restock, you can vend them, I'm sure the Food Market will be used as the Mystery Box once or twice in the next month etc etc.

The prices will probably come back down within a week or two since there are so few recipes at the moment.

I really like the fact that some ingredients are more open-ended, so it's not just inflating prices on 2-3 specific items like Genetech always does. I haven't actually tried it yet so I don't know how open-ended it actually is (does it take any item with "egg" in the name, or only specifically approved items?), but it sounds promising.

I'm not sure how I feel about having a wait time and a chance of failure on top of that? It already seems to be causing a lot of confusion, which I think points to a design flaw. You've gone for realism in the detail of the recipes and the way you wait for items to bake, but then the timer doesn't influence whether your item burns or not. It's kind of a weird setup.

And it would be nice to see what level the different recipes required without having to look it up on Subetalodge or something. Alchemy has this same problem now that it's starting to use levels, and I can only see it getting worse from here.

Do we know if recipes will get retired over time, or cycle with the seasons or something?
