When Subeta is down, we see the following message:
Sadly, the Subeta Twitter account was not updated at all during today's downtime. The Facebook was updated after about 8 hours of downtime. That's a bit ridiculous. Please, communicate with us better when the site is down.
This!! When I notice the site is down, I always go to check both the Facebook and Twitter and am always disappointed when neither have been updated.
We rant , subeta remains stoic , gives glib responses about 'will do better next time' and it happens again and again and again.
I agree. I checked them for hours this morning and nothing. It's very discouraging, especially during an event.

What was the question?
Anything would have been nice, especially since the site was (apparently) dead for almost nine hours (I wasn't awake for all of this, but I know it was KOd for at least five hours). Subeta hasn't had an unexplained/long-lasting downtime for a long time, anf this kinda felt like the site hiccuped and went down and no one checked/noticed/couldn't be contacted to bring it back up.
Some message suggesting otherwise would have been cool.
It's been long day, especially for those of us in Europe (5:15pm here now) - although I appreciate staff were probably sleeping when things went 'tits up'...the lack of info on what's happening during the entire day is a bit worrying, especially during a long downtime.
So yes, more updates on Twitter or Facebook please :(
However...welcome back. You were missed, Subeta ^^
I checked at 9am and it was down, it's now a little over 6pm, so definitely 9 hours down.
Agreed. Especially after the recent ddos attack. Really made me wonder...

I understand timezones and all, but I fail to see why a business like Subeta would not have a person or people that were responsible to ensuring that the site was up every few hours. During an event. Shortly after the site was supposedly under attack.
To me, it's just screams "We don't really care"
I agree. Even if it's just as little as saying something like "We don't know what the problem is yet, but we're looking into it" would be better than 8 hours of no mention of it at all.
I get timezones but I noticed it at 6 am via central US time, anf it wasn't back up until a few minutes shy of 11 in the afternoon.... that is hard to swallow as timezone related, especially since Subeta runs on US time.
I wasn't doubting it, but thank you for confirming it! I'd hate to say it was that long without knowing etc etc.
i was thinking the same - it's disappointing to see these not used, especially since it's recommended on the downtime page to "check the facebook and twitter". and then the only mention of the downtime was a "sorry guys" message eight hours into the site being down. for a website that runs entirely on profit from users, you'd think the users wouldn't be kept in the dark like that. you guys have the resources to keep us informed - please use them!
Yup, just backing you up here ;) Also a friend of mine mentioned that earlier in the morning (that'd be around 4am where I live) the site was up and down as well, so it looks like it was unstable before going down completely.
A little more communication would definitely be appreciated. The lack on updates made me think that no one had even noticed it being down, which is bearable the first few hours, but it becomes rather frustrating after that. Even a simple message would suffice - just to know that someone is aware of it.
Very little has turned up there that actually provides insight into what's going on with the site (re: DDoS attack, today's downtime, lag, etc.) It's like it was forgotten.

Yeah I'd like to know what's going on when the site goes down, especially when it happens so frequently and it's just ignored. I haven't been on in months and I don't remember it being like this. :|

I give out:
I do get that most of staff is on a North American timezone, but it's really disconcerting to go from the site down page to Twitter and see nothing for 9 hours.
At the very least, please update it along with the Facebook page?
I'm in the same time zone as subeta and I woke up at 9 am and the site was down, and had apparently been down for many hours before then. I checked their facebook, twitter and tumblr but there was nothing. I thought there might would have been a little acknowledgement by that point but no, and it's not surprising. An update finally came on facebook ... And then the site was finally up another hour later.
It was already frustrating that the site was down for so long but even more irritating was the lack of "hey we see this and we're working on it." Finally something from facebook at 10 am...really... No one who works here gets up before 10 am?
But at the same time whenever subeta goes down in the middle of the night I've seen some people be downright nasty about it when staff members don't jump out of bed at 2 am to do this that and the other. People love how human and personable the staff is but then turn around and act like they're not humans who need sleep too when something goes wrong.
Edit: I mean, I play on a website that is based in France and sometimes in the evening when I play, the game breaks, things go wrong, etc. And knowing I can't play sucks, but I also know that it's the middle of the night in France and I can't expect the admins' "spidey senses" to tingle, to be mind readers, to predict the future etc, and get out of bed to fix it. It sort of sucks but it happens. It's life.
I just don't understand why there wasn't an update for over EIGHT hours.
Every single bloody event for the last 5 years ends up like this, a total shut down mess! It makes me wonder why I spend money on a site that can't seem to afford to keep it's servers and or suppliers greased so this sort of thing doesn't happen. Oh and before you bore me with the "oh buts" I'm not interested, you may be a loyal Keith follower and that's fine but to me he's a business man who isn't running his business to the proper standards paying customers expect. I still don't understand why the programmers don't think ahead of time when they know events are coming up and ensure that everything is working properly well before an event to stop all this hassle and people (like me) bitching!
Over 8 hours they were off line and when Subeta came back, no explanation, no sorry. I was going to buy some more credits this week, at the moment that is put WAY back on hiatus.
As for twitter or facebook they are even less helpful than road kill... ok sorry that IS annoyance!
