I think it's cute, but the head is too small... part of what makes the Hikei so cute is the huge head in relation to the body size I think if the head was made bigger/longer and it had more of that cute/silly/innocent look back it'd be perfect!

But totally awesome job with the shading and updating the art work... it looks great

Hmm, I really like the new design, but I liked the old one too. Both ears on the new one are just too long for my taste, and the tail should wrap around the orbs more, but other then that, great work!

***The hind legs are perfect the way they are IMO. The front legs seem a little uneven in comparison to the back. Also the pose...seems off. Maybe tuck it's chin in some or bring it's head back? It kinda looks like it's straining it's neck. Perhaps pull it's front legs back a little or make them closer together? I 'unno. The coloring and shading though are wonderful.

Hm..I would very much love to see a new Hikei...but there's a few things that bother me with this one. The tail seems a bit thick to me. Maybe thin it out a bit. The hind legs <3 perfect the way they are IMO. The front legs seem a little uneven in comparison to the back. Also the pose...seems off. Maybe tuck it's chin in some or bring it's head back? The new version was constructed very well! I like how the artist stayed true to the old design while making the body structure a bit more realistic. I wish the tail strands curved a bit more around the orbs, but I also like how they cradle the orbs. Overall awesome work!

I love it - the only thing that doesn't jive with me is the hooves, I wish they were more tucked under instead of jutting out, like the old one.

I think it's very cute, although I have to agree it looks a bit 'chibi-ish'. That doesn't bother me, but I wonder how much of a change the Chibi version would have?

I definitely like the back feet and tail better on the new one.

It looks a little heavy on the legs and too feminized in the face. It sort of looks like a different head placed on a different body.

The mane is a bit dull and still and the tail bit furthest to the back curls forwards in a weird way.

I'm a little bit disappointed about this remake.. I don't think the artwork has improved that much (in comparison to the other pet revamps). I would've expected the new hikei to look a little slimmer and more horse-like. It still has a 'chibi' impression like the old one. The head is too big and turned in a weird and unnatural angle.

On the other hand, I like its tail and manes

I like it, but.. It seems a bit scrunched up. The head seems a bit small compared to the previous one, and I think the back leg/foot could be a little largers. Other than that, it's pretty good.

Personally, I think the front hoof (in, well, the front, if that makes sense) needs to be just a bit smaller. other than that, it looks wonderful. (:

Only thing I can point out is the shading is lacking in a way. It doesnt seem to look 3-D to me. Though somehow I hope this is the last Hikei poll X3. Its had far too many.

The mane and tail are awesome and the pose is okay, I just think it should have bigger paws and something's odd about the hooves, the stand out. oOx (Also: I love the chibi one as it is, please don't ever change it kthx!)

The head/neck is turned awkwardly. The eyes aren't nearly as cute.. There are some minor improvements such as the mane and tail, but I still think the old one is a lot cuter. o.o

The mane on its head looks a bit strange, like a random tuft of hair. Also the feet are odd! Two are tiger-like and two are horse-like. Make your mind up!

The shading and detail in this drawing are perfection. Whoever drew this is a fantastic artist. The back paws and front hooves balance perfectly. The tail is a little odd, but it's not like this is supposed to be a real life animal. The animal seems a bit chubby, but I suppose it makes it seem cuter instead of noble. I suppose the ears are a bit pointier than a real horses, or zebras, but once again this animal is made up. Overall, wonderful job.

I never did care much for the hikei. That's not to say I hated it. I was just ndifferent about it. - but this new version is very vey nice and I would actually contemplate getting one... if I had more space Very well done to the artist. Nice face lift

While I like the overall design, the hooves on the front legs look more like it has suction cup feet on the forelegs The way the fetlocks look, it seems to only make it look awkward.

Everything else is peachy keen.

This looks more like it was meant to be an improvement of the previous revamp attempt than an improvement of the Hikei itself. In that right it's relatively successful - definitely better than the previous poll - but it still doesn't quite live up to all the potential in the Hikei.

In terms of anatomy, the first problem that jumps out is the near hind leg. The joints just look very out of proportion. I think most of the problem could be corrected by 1) angling that vertical line at the back of its thigh inward a little, so the thigh doesn't look so unnaturally straight, and 2) moving the point where the top/front of the foot joins the leg up by just a couple millimeters.

Next is something I've only seen one other person point out, and I'll quote that if I may: "If you're going to have cloven hooves, then draw them with a reference." This Hikei's hooves aren't cloven; they're cracked. Google Images is your friend.

As for the head... I have no problem with the round cheeks and short snout. The original Hikei had those too, and they were part of its charm. I do think the nose could stand to be a bit taller though (as in elongating the space between the nostril and the lip). And I think the ears should be a bit more rounded, to better match the roundness of the face and body. Same with the eyes - bright, round eyes would really make the pet look more alive and dynamic. These are slanted far too much, and that just doesn't match anything.

Otherwise, matters of personal preference that several others have already brought up: thinner tails, smaller orbs, less intensity to the highlights on the back stripes... and yes, that butt tuft really ought to go. The whole back end should look a bit more rounded anyway to balance out the thick legs, and that tuft adds an angle that just isn't necessary... not to mention it draws attention to a very awkward place.

I hope this will be edited before the Hikei gets its final update. The pet has so much cuteness potential, but this doesn't quite live up to it.

... the pink of the ears -still- look like rabbit ears and are drawn wrong. The pink area looks like it is front of the ear instead of being a part of the ear. (the white in the back of the ear is not high enough). The tuft of hair on the back of the leg is unnecessary and looks like a misplaced triangle. I also think the check-mark that is supposed to be a chest line would be better as shading.

I like it! It's still cute and chunky! I like this a lot better than the previous revamp attempt. It retains a lot of what I love about the current one.

The overall effect is rather nice. I love the eyes, the color is beautiful and bristles effect of the mane is PERFECT.

The muzzle is too poined and could use a little more length and some squaring off.

The orbs in the tailsl are distracting and would probably look better if they were smaller.

The "butt tuft" needs to disappear.

This may seem dumb, but there are two little bumps in the line art at the heel of the hind paw facing you. I dunno, the cell-shading on the markings still throws me off. Depending on what the revamps of the old non-static colors look like I think I might be getting one of these cute muletigers?

Style is really cool, but physically I think it would be awesome if it looked a little more like a horse--longer neck, thinner limbs, smaller feet. It looks a little nubby right now Sorry.

There's something odd about the back legs. Like they're too bulky - the old one has more detailed hind legs that look much nicer. And the pose of them looks strange; maybe the feet should be positioned a little further back like a dog? It looks awkward the way it's standing now.

Also, the eyes seem a little too slanted/small, and the little tuft of fur on the butt looks out of place. It commands more attention than it should. Otherwise, it's nice. I'll be sad to see my fat Hikei go, though..

The details are nice, but the old one's pose and expression looks better, IMHO. The hind legs on this also look a bit blobby. It either needs more muscle definition or more angled joints. Right now, it looks a little... boneless. Not sure how to explain it, but it doesn't seem like the new one has a solid frame underneath. ...Am I making sense?

I like it, but the only thing I would have to say is that the front legs seem too heavily disconnected from the rest of the body. I know that sounds a little strange, but it feels like they don't fit the body right. With a creature that's two halves of two different animals, I know its hard to make them match up well. Otherwise you did a great job, I love the chubby body, very adorable.

My only gripe is that the hind part of the body doesn't seem to flow with the front part of the body. The lineart just seems to get a little sloppy, which is a little distracting because the face and mane are great.

But yeah, great improvement here!

The old Hikei reminded me a bit of a marshmallow, actually, with its soft, bulky body... this one looks much more like an actual animal. I love the way the head looks more three-dimensional and the markings are... I don't know, more aesthetically-pleasing since they're less cluttered? Well, I like them.

The back leg facing the viewer looks a little flat for some reason, but a small modification to the shading could fix that. Also, the tails seem a little awkward. Maybe you could turn the tail closest to the viewer a little more on its side and make the orbs smaller...

In spite of those little things, I think you've really improved the species.
