You don't know how long I've wanted a Hikei revamp. xD Looks great, although I'd sy that you should probably make the neck longer, or the ehad a touch smaller.

i like the new one okay, the only thing that bothers me are the eyes....i like the way they look in the old one... maybe the old eyes with the new body would look good?

The older one looked more shy, so maybe you can make the revamp a little more shy by hiding the eyes and maybe angle the body like the other.

I prefer the old one. The art on the new one is much better, and I love how the fur stands out around the hooves, but the face looks too big. The head on the original was also large, but because of the way it was standing (with the body receding into the background) it didn't look as strange. The pose is also too static for my tastes. I liked the way the old version was posed, with its head tilted slightly to the side and a smirk on its face. I think changing the revamp's facial expression would make it seem more dynamic.

I voted for the new, because I believe we NEED to update the Hikei - BUT I don't think this revamp is quite perfect.. Something seems off. The legs look disproportional - like the back ones are longer. The shoulder in the front is WAY too sharp and high for a horse's. Back to the back legs - it looks like the angle of the hock is too harsh.. like the Hikei is leaning back on it's hind legs BUT his entire body is still being pushed forward. Also, A little nit pick - but the line across the chest right under the neck looks odd. Just.. really odd. It would be better to take that line and soften it - or just shade there and pull the line out. shrugs Still - cute face and nice tail!

I likes this revamp. But I think the eyes on the old one are better. XD Also I like the pose on the old one for some reason.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

i think the right cheek is a little too fat - and, as usual, there is a draw in my decisions - i like things the old version has, but also things the new version has. i think the old version had more charme - motion (?) it looks more alive. but the new one is drawn better.

OH- I forgot:

I think the front legs should be a tad thinner, with a defined "knee".

I looove this revamp, but at first I thought it was the Chibi revamp instead of the common.

There are a couple improvements I personally think could/should be made. The first is the face. The snout looks like it should be longer. So does the tail. And if the whole body in general could be a bit longer (I know there's a size constraint to consider) it would look less like a baby and more like an older Hikei. Another thing is the chest. I think it should be a little more defined and muscled like the old one, that way it emphasizes the horse/zebra half of the body.

Overall, it's a beautiful revamp with awesome coloring. Good job guys. :]

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I can't seem to find any faults with it. Normally, I can find something that looks a little off. But it might just be my inexperience with anything remotely horse like. No crits from me (for once XD)

lks great, though the head is a little big, either make the body more sturdy or minimize the head. otherwise awesome job

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I like the updated version of the Hikei. she shading capturers more of a fur-like resmblence on the new version rather then the older. as the same goes for the feet, hair, and defiantly face. loving the light source too ^__^

I love this, great work staff =)

i think it's better then before, but there are i few thinks that i personally would change!

first of all i always thought the head is way to short. never seen such a sort horse head. and it hasn't a good form too, it should be stretched and the form needs more curves. especially the moth normally is a bit bigger than the part between eyes and mouth! sorry if it's hard to understand what i'm talking about i'm missing a lot of vocabulary xD

secondly i would prefer if the tail was more impressive. bigger and "stronger"

third and last thing i would like to mention: to me it looks a bit to chubbily. especially the stomach is so round and it doesn't look horse like. i would like if it get's thinner at all and the normal stomach of a horse is less rounded when it arrives at the hind legs.

hope this was constuctive enough! (what i want to add, concerning what i like so much about it: i LOVE the shiny eyes and the fur coloring! the shading is awesome, not too shiny but not to dull either! really really well done!)

I voted for the old version. I think it looks a bit more elegant, whereas the new update seems rather chubbly and... awkward, somehow? I do like the coloring job on the new version, though.

I prefer the old one, this new one looks more like a dog than a horse and it has lost that gorgeous jawline that the old hikei does have. this face is too stubby, and combined with the broader body it makes it look very...well fat isn;t the correct word, but fat haha

Much better then the first update but I have to admit still not 100%. Tail needs a little bit more and the head looks out of proportion. I think the nose looks too narrow. I think it is also slightly because the body is so bulky/muscular

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I love this one! However, I preferred the head on the other one... it's a big cuter and suggests the Hikei knows something you don't. I also think that the tail needs to be longer.

It's very cute, and the artwork is nice. I think on the whole, the body looks pretty stocky. Not fat, just... thick. The tails and muzzle could also stand a bit of lengthening (and the head a little shrinking) to feel a little more proportionate. Beyond that, he's got a cute, playful look. and the pose shows him off a little better than the old one.

flowerbuzz, please stop repeatedly posting the same thing over and over again. ^^;

It's definitely better than the first one with the quality and such. But I do think the head is a bit too big compared to the body, or the body is. And it's stomach area doesn't have any shape to it.

I love the coloring, though. And it's much better than the first one. c:

In all honesty the artwork is very good, but I agree that the face is a little on the small side, to me. And also, part of what makes the hikei look so cute now is that it isn't in profile. It's body is looking more towards the screen, and I really like that.

Artistically much better than the first proposed revamp, but it's still not up to speed. Anatomically, the tails look much too small and understated compared to the enlarged and pudgy... well, everything else. (I'm not saying pudgy is bad; the Hikei was originally pudgy and it should stay that way. I'm just pointing out the unbalance between that and the tiny tails.) Also, the back legs are set at an awkward angle. It looks like the creature is leaning itself backwards or about to crouch down or, unfortunately, relieve itself. The "foot" part of the leg - at least on the near leg - should be closer to vertical when standing at ease.

But I won't stress the back legs much, because I'd really rather see the entire pose (or at least angle) changed anyway. This one is just... standing there. The pose is as static as they come, the straight-on profile is easily the dullest angle one could take in animal art, and the face is utterly devoid of expression and personality. I'm all for having neutral pet designs and letting the users create their own personalities for their pets, but there's a difference between being neutral and looking like a piece of furniture.

But again, it's much nicer artistically and more Hikei-looking than the first proposed revamp, so kudos for that. It's just not there yet.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I think it looks ok but everyone is commenting on the face. i think the nose a bit short for his face and if you make it a little longer, it would pull the face to gether and not make it look so 'fat' as aiya said and make a hoof come up or something to make it have a little more personality! and one last thing is make his belly a little smaller. he looks a bit bloated

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by cinn

Hmmm, it's pretty good, but when i saw it I thought it was a chibi revamp. 0.0 I pretty much like the pose, but I'd like it even more if the hikei was a bit leaner.^^ Great job!

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

It looks overall better, but I think it'd look more snappy if the body wasn't so pudgy, and maybe the angle turned a little bit. I like the angle of the original Hikei, but I like being able to see all four paws/hooves on the new one.

The Hikei was my all time favorite pet on Subeta..I say was because no matter what the people that dont care for this pet say it will go through the revamp and be changed. It makes me sad to know that I will now be getting rid of all my Hikeis due to this revamp....The body isnt all that bad, but the face should have been left ALONE..this revamp takes the cuteness completely away from the hikei all together..the face is too fat, the snout is too pushed in..I just wish for once you guys would leave this pet alone. We all go out and we spend tons of points (and yes I know its just points) on how we want our pets to look...and then a few months later we are told that the pets are changing. And then those of us who go vote for the old version really have no say so because the new version always wins..so then the poll is pretty much put up for nothing..Im really sorry to the artist for not liking their work, but this revamp is just not good to me at all.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

First of all I love it, but I think a few improvements could be made though it's overall much better than the first oen

I think the tail should be bigger and possiblly more than three curls as well as the head much smaller. Right now it looks chibi and I thought it was a chibi revamp to be honest

That and I think that the body should be slightly slimmer. This gives the illusion that it's bigger as it looks quite small now

I do love how youc an see the paws here XD I always loved that about the Hieki, but it was nearly unnoticable in the old version.

Very nice, as said, overall.

The expression in the eyes of the new hikei seem to be baleful and it would be nicer if the eyes of the older version were incorporated - that's just my opinion. Otherwise the whole is very well drawn.

I think the old one still has a bit more personality to it. Maybe if the head could be slightly cocked, or a hoof raised, something so it does not look quite as still. Good artwork tho.
