Please remember that we look for Constructive criticism! Saying that something is ugly doesn't help the artist improve it ;)
I like that the legs of this new version are slimmed down a bit, and I like the little ruffle of leg fur that is over the hooves. The back paws seem a bit off to me--I think the toes look as though they have been bent too much? For instance, the middle toe on its left leg forms a closed circle--the line of the toe is drawn too far back, so that the toes look very thin and very bent.
I think the chest is a bit too simplified, as well. The chest is just one curve, and when it levels out, it stays at the same exact level as it continues on to the belly. This gives the Hikei the appearance of being, well, a bit of a sausage. I would think that in most animals, especially something like a zebra, the chest area extends down farther and is more defined because of the ribcage, then slopes upward as it goes towards the hindlegs. This might help in slimming the creature down a little, since there seem to have been several comments about it looking chubby.
I think the face looks chubby because, for once, it is not being overshadowed by chubby front legs. Simply making the head smaller, and maybe tilting it so that you can see less of the right eye would fix this. This might make slimming the neck down feasible as well, as it does seem a little -too- thick, even for a horse or zebra.
I kind of miss the illusion of the neck being arched up high, like a real equine, but I don't know if anyone else does.
