A Very Unfortunate Downtime



Happy Luminaire to all timezones! For those of you that checked Subeta earlier today, you may have noticed an issue in the way that Luminaire presents went out. Unfortunately, an incorrect script was used to process the many gifts given by generous Subetans, and they were given out via the (much oudated) "stocking” method for many users. This caused an influx of sidebar events rather than the (much preferred) method of seeing your gifts gathered on one page. More importantly, and more detrimentally, it caused some gifts to go out more than once - a big problem for things like Custom Wearables or CSC cards!

We've spent the last few hours trying to figure out the best route to take. We considered manually deleting items, but we couldn't be certain which items were legitimately sent in multiples. We were looking at doing a rollback, but it's about the worst day of the year for that, (not that there's EVER a good time for a rollback) and wasn't possible to set up until tomorrow, meaning the site may have been offline for up to 48 hours. We obviously didn't want this to happen - not at a time of year where you want to be well-wishing your friends on the site!

So we've come to this: we trust you guys, and we don't think it's fair for you to lose any effort you've put into the site because of a mistake on our end. So we're asking you this: to please delete the items you may have received via the "stocking events". (HERE is a handy link to your events page in case you want to keep track of what you received)We ask you to take some time to enjoy the holiday while we work on our end to resolve this as quickly as we can. We will be updating you as soon as possible (this could mean it might take a few days) with the link to the Trees so you can open your gifts properly. This is a special time of year for everybody - including the staff - and getting things like this resolved is a lot more difficult for us.

If you did not receive any stocking related events, you’re in the clear and don’t have to worry about deleting any items. You’ll just have to wait for the trees to open, which we will make a separate news post about!

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience or upset caused, and as a goodwill gesture, you can now get a 1 Week Gold Account Medal via the free gift. We are also giving each user 250csc (added to your on-hand credits), putting a few extra gifts under the tree, and until Monday ALL quests are weekend quests.

To those of you being rude during the Holidays because you can't sell the items you didn't even earn, clearly you're taking the game too seriously. An error is simply an error, no one's perfect but it isn't their fault you're having too much trouble making the sP with your own hard work... Let's be nice. Take a deep breath. Life goes on. No. It was occurring with the script for stockings running and that caused items to duplicate. Until everything gets fixed, they're holding off on opening the tree.

thank you staff for keeping us updated and working throughout today to bring subeta back up, rather than leaving it down for a few days/rolling back/etc! the csc and GA were a nice touch, and thank you for giving them to us!! i know most of us really appreciate your efforts, and i hope all of you are able to enjoy the rest of your holiday!! I'm a little confused. Are we supposed to delete all the things we got? Are those things that people sent to us on purpose this year and we'll get them for real when the trees open? Cause some of the stuff I know isn't from previous years cause those items didn't exist then.

Inorite? Subeta could be like most other sites or companies where they don't give a crap and would just do a rollback no matter how long it would take, then just stick a generic apology instead of actually thinking about the userbase. But no, apparently the staff shouldn't care.

All I can ear from those butthurt people is ‘’It’s not fair I can’t exploit a glitch’’

Keep complaining and next time the site will be down for 3 days and will be rolled back.

Delete the items. Wait a few days. We’ll all get everything we were supposed to get soon.

I'm the reason for 's 3k+ events... I wanted to knock off as much of their wishlist as possible for the holiday, and I finally had enough sP saved up to do it.

Um. I never took a screenshot of my gifts-given page like I planned, and it now says 0 gifts sent. Ecks cant even view all the events in the events history bc there are so many. I never intended for my surprise to go this awry or to cause this much issue.

Should I have them post on the bug forums about this or just wait?

- That /should/ be ok. Our database tables should have it covered, although at this point I would actually suggest the gift center for last minute gifts to be safe and just so people can get them immediately, which might be nice!

You’re a very popular person, wow. I’m assuming you had items in your inventory before the “stocking” events, so you might want to use those events to match up the items you got so you can easily delete them via the quick stock option! If you didn’t get the stocking events, you’re fine. :)

Thank you, subeta! :3 It's totally okay. I don't mind waiting more to open my gifts. Gifts don't make lumi or any other holiday for that matter. People do. ❤️ That being said, I DO appreciate the free csc and GA medal. :P

Like most of the other peeps here: it's okay!! it happens!! You're human, you're allowed to make mistakes! Thanks so much fr the goodies, and don't worry, the community is still always here for the staff, because you're always here for us!!

But for those who decide to be grinches: don't. 6 hours of their holiday were dedicated to this site so YOU can come on. Doesn't everyone deserve a break?

We'll be getting our gifts late this year, huh? Okay, the as long as I know that I can wait a few more days. c: Having all of the quests as weekend quests until then is a pretty sweet deal, too. o: I often don't have the patience to keep up with quests, but with this I'll just have to try.

thats a bit harsh, when the team could of just left the site down , they giving us more then they really should. That and not everyone got all their gifts so that would been rude plus they have to keep items balance or one item will drop low in price. Then you would make nothing from any of it.

Whatever you already got didn't come from your tree, It came from the old stocking script and were old presents you shouldn't of gotten or multiples as well so basically you got stuff that you won't get again because it's not from this year.

Deleting all these gifts via quickstock has been the hardest task I've had on Subeta, and I recently got the 45k tier Hoarder Achievement, moved thousands of items to their proper collections and wardrobe, and still, none of that felt as horrible as this

You know what? Screw it. Christmas or not, I'm really disappointed that we have to delete all these extras due to your error and no, a simple 250 csc and a 1 week GA isn't going to make up for all the money I could have made selling these extras. Money I'm always desperate to get because I fail at this game and lately, all of my cash has gone towards buying CW's with user shop bought CSC, that raises about half a mill every couple of months. Have you seen my wishlists?! At this rate it'll take me the rest of my life to get them all. Thanks for ruining my holiday.
