A Very Unfortunate Downtime

Happy Luminaire to all timezones! For those of you that checked Subeta earlier today, you may have noticed an issue in the way that Luminaire presents went out. Unfortunately, an incorrect script was used to process the many gifts given by generous Subetans, and they were given out via the (much oudated) "stocking” method for many users. This caused an influx of sidebar events rather than the (much preferred) method of seeing your gifts gathered on one page. More importantly, and more detrimentally, it caused some gifts to go out more than once - a big problem for things like Custom Wearables or CSC cards!

We've spent the last few hours trying to figure out the best route to take. We considered manually deleting items, but we couldn't be certain which items were legitimately sent in multiples. We were looking at doing a rollback, but it's about the worst day of the year for that, (not that there's EVER a good time for a rollback) and wasn't possible to set up until tomorrow, meaning the site may have been offline for up to 48 hours. We obviously didn't want this to happen - not at a time of year where you want to be well-wishing your friends on the site!

So we've come to this: we trust you guys, and we don't think it's fair for you to lose any effort you've put into the site because of a mistake on our end. So we're asking you this: to please delete the items you may have received via the "stocking events". (HERE is a handy link to your events page in case you want to keep track of what you received)We ask you to take some time to enjoy the holiday while we work on our end to resolve this as quickly as we can. We will be updating you as soon as possible (this could mean it might take a few days) with the link to the Trees so you can open your gifts properly. This is a special time of year for everybody - including the staff - and getting things like this resolved is a lot more difficult for us.

If you did not receive any stocking related events, you’re in the clear and don’t have to worry about deleting any items. You’ll just have to wait for the trees to open, which we will make a separate news post about!

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience or upset caused, and as a goodwill gesture, you can now get a 1 Week Gold Account Medal via the free gift. We are also giving each user 250csc (added to your on-hand credits), putting a few extra gifts under the tree, and until Monday ALL quests are weekend quests.

Happy Luminaire, thank you for continuing to support Subeta, and here's to a slightly less chaotic New Year!

I accidentally cleared out my stocking events, is there any way to get them re-added to my event page by staff so I can delete the appropriate items? Help!

I "cleaned" out the items I had before in my inventory (quentin rewards...) and now I'm left with 182 items of which 5 were locked before. 2 stacks of duplicates are not mentioned in my ping history and I'm not sure what to do with them. I should probably delete the 100 CSC cards, but with the old box of ornaments (x 3) I'm not even sure if I had one in my inventory before the script or not ;_;

So, chemo-brained here, trying to clarify...want to make sure I do the right thing. Are all the items we need to delete the ones listed as "stocking" events? Or do we delete only duplicates? And do we keep anything else that isn't on the stocking list? Sorry, not really stupid, but overtired and easily confused rueful grin

You guys are the most amazing mods I've ever had to the pleasure of dealing with. Seriously, I've been on a lot of sites and dealt with a lot of mods in the last ten years and I have never met such a brilliant band of mods. You've always been quick to respond to problems and you're incredibly generous. And you just spent your holiday fixing this site. So thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for all your hard work. <3

I usually am not one to jump on the bandwagon, but I want you to know I'm yet another loyal player who wants to thank you for your hard work and dedication on a holiday. Regardless if you celebrate or not, most things are shut down anyhow so I'm sure if it wasn't family time; it was much needed/wanted planned relax time. Thank you so much again! You guys rock. :)

I was on earlier when I received the event notifications about the stocking. I had already moved several items to my wardrobe by the time the site was taken down. The majority of them were lifelike dolls from my wishlist. However with the "Recently Added" option no longer available in the new wardrobe and the link in the post to show me my events coming up blank....I'm just confused about what I should do. Any help would be great.

I've been very busy at the animal shelter for most of the morning, so this didn't inconvenience me very much. I never saw any strange events and it looks my inventory is exactly how I left it. I was actually intending to skip quests because I'm so busy, but since you guys did this for us I'm going to take a break and do those quests! Thank you for all your hard work, and the gold account medal. My GA was going to expire a few days before Winter Quarter, but now I can have it for the rest of my winter break! Oh, and I just saw I received 250 CSC as well. You guys spoil us~ I hope all the staff finds time to relax and enjoy the holidays.

No worries about the late presents. I'm actually not opening a lot of my presents in real life until this weekend when my family can come over anyways.

Merry Christmas, Happy Luminaire, and Happy Holidays! hugs all around

If you didn’t get any events, you’re good! You just have to wait until we open trees to open gifts. :) Not everyone got the events because the script goes by userid and it timed out at some point, so we weren’t exactly sure where it stopped!
