A Very Unfortunate Downtime



Happy Luminaire to all timezones! For those of you that checked Subeta earlier today, you may have noticed an issue in the way that Luminaire presents went out. Unfortunately, an incorrect script was used to process the many gifts given by generous Subetans, and they were given out via the (much oudated) "stocking” method for many users. This caused an influx of sidebar events rather than the (much preferred) method of seeing your gifts gathered on one page. More importantly, and more detrimentally, it caused some gifts to go out more than once - a big problem for things like Custom Wearables or CSC cards!

We've spent the last few hours trying to figure out the best route to take. We considered manually deleting items, but we couldn't be certain which items were legitimately sent in multiples. We were looking at doing a rollback, but it's about the worst day of the year for that, (not that there's EVER a good time for a rollback) and wasn't possible to set up until tomorrow, meaning the site may have been offline for up to 48 hours. We obviously didn't want this to happen - not at a time of year where you want to be well-wishing your friends on the site!

So we've come to this: we trust you guys, and we don't think it's fair for you to lose any effort you've put into the site because of a mistake on our end. So we're asking you this: to please delete the items you may have received via the "stocking events". (HERE is a handy link to your events page in case you want to keep track of what you received)We ask you to take some time to enjoy the holiday while we work on our end to resolve this as quickly as we can. We will be updating you as soon as possible (this could mean it might take a few days) with the link to the Trees so you can open your gifts properly. This is a special time of year for everybody - including the staff - and getting things like this resolved is a lot more difficult for us.

If you did not receive any stocking related events, you’re in the clear and don’t have to worry about deleting any items. You’ll just have to wait for the trees to open, which we will make a separate news post about!

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience or upset caused, and as a goodwill gesture, you can now get a 1 Week Gold Account Medal via the free gift. We are also giving each user 250csc (added to your on-hand credits), putting a few extra gifts under the tree, and until Monday ALL quests are weekend quests.

I really appreciate it that you have taken the time from your busy Christmas weekend to brief us. Thank you so much for the update and I hope the rest of this will go smoothly for everyone. :) Also thank you for your generosity, to be honest I think more people should appreciate your considerateness over the fact that they haven't received their gifts yet.

you could file a ticket, i think? i did that once for a reborn potion i missed the random event for, but that was literally years ago (five or so), so i'm not sure if ticket rules have changed.

Thank you for the GA and CSC! I missed this whole thing, which I am so thankful for XD but I do have a random question - not sure if this is the right place to ask. There is now a 1000 point wizard token in my inventory and I've no idea where it came from; I did not get a notification for it, if someone sent it; I did do MM yesterday, but did not get it from that; as I said, I missed the whole glitch thing, so it wasn't from that either - is there a way to find out where it came from? I don't want to use it if it isn't actually mine to use. :P

Im so sorry this happened during the holiday when we should all be resting and having fun. thank you for the extra items, and the clear explanation. I always go to my inventory first, there was a couple of puddings for some reason which i promptly fed to mandate cause hes a greedy pig! but Im sure they wont have been gifts, and the link page was blank when i looked. Thank you so much for the generous free gifts and sorting things out! It must be a pain for something like this to happen on Christmas day but it's great that you guys sorted it out in the end! I didn't get any of those stocking events so I'm clear, but I'm sad that there are a few people who are very negative about this when the staff are working hard on the site on a pretty difficult day.

They should, I think that's part of what the programmers are working on now before they release the trees. Making sure everyone who accidentally got their glitched gifts still get the right things when they release the trees for real.

I believe it was mentioned somewhere that they increased inventories to 1000 for everyone for now to help people with clearing out the erroneous gifts. Some people received double and triple of lots of things, so they ended up with hundreds or a couple thousand items by mistake.

Don't worry if you don't see anything under your tree anymore, you should still get your presents when they get fixed and released in a couple of days.

No, you don't have to delete everything you've ever received! Did you have any events yesterday or this morning that said something fell out of your stocking? If so, you need to delete all of those items. If not, then the glitch didn't affect you and you'll get any gifts that were under your tree in a couple of days when staff releases the link.

I apologize for the imcomplete comment, my stupid tablet wouldn't let me finish. I was trying to say that if we recieved gifts from anonymous, we delete the items in them correct? Does that also include the gifts I got when I first joined this site as well?

I got everything deleted. Took a while, but that's okay :) I did notice that the "gifts I've given" total is MUCH less than what it was yesterday morning. Hopefully everybody got all the gifts I gave!!

I am missing two users in my gifts given list. I made screenshots so I know who I gifted. I think it are users who already looked at their presents (as one thanked me already and said she deleted the items again).

Well... I don't think I received any gifts via the outdated "stocking" method, but if that occurs, I'll just delete them if it occurs.

A rollback would have been kind of terrible to do... But if it had to be done, well, definitely no comments.

Ah... So the link to the trees will be released in a few days time. I was going to ask, but good thing I read.

I do hope it'll be resolved soon, but again, not much rush. I'll wait.

And thank you for the free gift of CSC and 1 Week Gold Account Medal! :D I'm going to go and play lots of quests until Monday. ^^ Bye~!

Mistakes happen, but the sheer fact that you dealt with it so quickly and on Christmas day is so wonderful and commendable! Also the extra gifts are beyond generous. Take your time, and don't worry about the haters. Merry Lumi Subeta ^^

I wasn´t online yesterday when this happened and no events and items for me in my inventory, my tree shows still gifts, too. :-) My "Sent gifts" page shows 6 players less than gifted, though, and also the amount of SP I spent for their gifts is deducted from the list. I made a copy of the page before, you never know, LOL, yet I am a little bit worried my gifts will be deleted for them which would make me sad much more than loosing my own gifts because I chose them with love and care. So if Subeta team needs more time to solve this out correctly, that should be absolutely okay with all of us, better a safe solution which includes correct gift giving than a quick solution which fails! If the site has to have downtime for it, no need to worry about this, team! ^-^

you will have your presents. All of your presents. Duplicates (or extras) don't belong to you, so if you keep them and sell them are you stealing. Especially if there are CSC card or other items related to real cash. Deleting items that 1) you haven't bought; 2) no-one has sent you; 3) are not a gift from SubetaTeam... it is "only" the civil and honest behaviour. Is asking users to be honest too unintelligible? Yes, maybe entrust to "honesty" () seems to be naive, but I love that SubetaTeam trusts in us. Someone will keep the items, sadly, but I think that the dishonesty of few could be the price do pay for the happyness of many. The team could have simply made a rollback, or anything else deleting all the presents: it isn't a paid-from-users site, they don't owe us nothing 'cause it's only a game, and the only things we can do are 1) complain; 2) leave. Fixing the bug in a hurry (hey, it's christmas) to re-open the site, delaying the presents for two days but pledging all of them, gifting with an extra 250 csc and 1 week of GA, and asking ONLY little time to delete wrong items and HONESTY... I think that is the best solution. Remember, the happiness of many. When you have thousands of users, you must think to the many. And, I repeat, it's a game. You've e-friend? I hope you have other ways to communicate with them and enjoy christmas. Sorry for the tone, but really I can't bear who tries to gain advantages from others' errors. Have a nice day.

I'm on here late and had no idea this had happened, but thank you Subeta for the generous apology for something that understandably happens sometimes. Nothing always goes as smoothly as one hopes. (: Anyway, I'm pretty sure I didn't get any stocking events, nothing says so in my events in the link or sidebar so I think I'm clear? Thank you again, Subeta, and happy (belated) Luminaire!
