I did thin down a few things I'd wishlisted and changed my mind on (also, my wishlist was getting out of hand on how big it was!) :P

That's irritating when you say to nudge it one way and they just move it in completely the opposite direction (then if you say "no the other way" then my Dad just gets stroppy that you aren't immediately happy with how it is!). Hopefully your dad might be able to get the lantern hung, without too much hassle though (and just think how good it'll be next year when you can do ladders again!) ;)

Especially as I couldn't figure out why they were staring! I thought his name (on his credit card he was paying with) seemed familiar, but I still couldn't place him :P I've managed to get back into it and save the emails & browser bookmarks to a flash drive, but they've given in and asked me to order a new computer. Their current one's never really worked 'properly' and it's been almost snail-like speed right for the last couple of years, so I'm hoping the new one will last a lot longer! So now it's just a case of waiting for the new one to arrive (supposed to be "by Monday" so that could be up to Monday evening), then spending probably 2 days getting it all set up and everything swapped over from their backup.... plus finding the disks for the programmes I installed last time (I think I know which cupboard the disks are in, but they're not going to be easy to get to!) ;)

ooh super cute ha today :D yeah my dad does epic sighs like it's the WORST thing in the world and all I wanna do is go fix it myself >,< lol yes that is good though these lanterns are only being hung the once. Next year the hooks will be in place. See I bought 4 lanterns and one of my old ones got new glass after a cat made it go boom. So instead of putting them on surfaces they are getting hung. BUT they are also being decorated for Christmas at the same time ;)

Sounds like you have a "few" hours left of tech support. :P I would prefer setting up a new computer any day over trying to fix an old one. :P Google saves all emails and bookmarks for me as I use chrome and gmail mostly, so at least I don't have to worry about that.

nods the supervisor came over to "help" as I was serving (I think she just wanted an excuse to say she'd also served him), and afterwards she said "I never thought I'd be able to help serve Rik Mayall" - I knew who he was then! :P Well google helps with trying to fix computers (that's how I was able to get the bookmarks and emails saved, as they were lurking in a weird folder and I couldn't access the programmes), but the biggest thing with setting up a new computer is the time taken in getting everything transferred over, and making sure I've not missed anything!

True, google can be helpful, even though I often feel I have to spend a lot of time trying different solutions suggestions and just hope one of them will work. I am sure even the professionals will google things, Often faster and easier than fiddling with it yourself.

Yeah I followed a set of instructions for the error loop thing, got to the end of a youTube video, and it just said "if this doesn't work, then head over to my other video to find out what to do" :K

I thought their computer would be delivered today (the company dispatching it said today for a delivery date, but the courier was saying tomorrow), but it looks like the courier was right, as there's been nothing arriving today. Dad even got up early just in case they came this morning 😇

[edit] This computer arrived today (Monday), but I hadn't realised their computer monitor has an old connection.... so I've had to order another lead to connect the new computer's HDMI socket to the old monitor facepalm That should arrive Tuesday apparently

Yep! It arrived earlyish this morning, but I didn't realise it needed an adaptor to get the monitor connected (the monitor isn't that old, but it needed an older connection to work with their computer), so I've got to wait until tomorrow for that to arrive

Maybe he was just on vacation or something. ;)

Hopefully the adaptor was not too expensive. I don't even have any room to put a computer desk, so I won't be getting desktop one anytime soon. :P

It wasn't too pricey, although looking at the tracking for the order, they've changed the expected delivery date to Friday :K so at the moment I've got Mum's new computer hooked up to my monitor to try and at least get it all set up before Friday! So far it was going smoothly until I tried installing the programme to get the backup from the old computer.... that refuses to load the programme properly facepalm

todays is brilliant as well. YeP :/ sure, can you remind me Thrusday? its been a bit mad here. I had a killer migraine on Saturday and Sunday. Still had a headache Monday but saw to it that I finished the last of the aprons. Today has been tons of running around and chores to do in prep for THanksgiving. I got my apron order shipped so I am over all happy lol.

well the tracking would be useful if it actually appeared - it's still not dispatched yet (dispatch estimate was yesterday), so I'm not convinced it'll actually arrive on Friday at this rate! I've got a bit of Christmas wrapping up sorted (things that need posting and an advent calendar I'm doing for a local friend), but I'm feeling really disorganised with it all - each year I aim to get sorted by the end of October and it never happens! 😊 :P

I have ordered and bought a few gifts, and gotten a couple of christmas cards sorted so that is how far I have gotten yet. :P I hope to decorate this weekend. I have also bought some candy which I will use in the advent calendar you made for me. :D It has become a tradition.

I finally had a tracking email - they don't deliver on weekends (despite Dell telling me the delivery is due Saturday), so that part will come on Monday.... a week after I ordered it with so called "next day delivery"!

That's a lot earlier than we decorate ;) Although maybe this year we might get the tree up a bit earlier than normal, as it's Dad's 70th birthday next month, and we always have the tree up the day before his birthday, so maybe a little more ahead would be better ;) I'm pleased you're still using that one - and that sweets actually fit in it! The one I made for me had pockets that were slightly too small 😊 :P

I bet it doesn't help that people order online like crazy now before christmas.

I like to get everything set up in time in time for December. :) I haven't really slept well lately, so I will see if I feel energized enough tomorrow to tackle the cleaning and decorating. :P

that's true - everywhere has Black Friday deals that started last week (o.O) and I don't think they can keep up! It still says Monday on the courier's tracking, although it actually hasn't reached their warehouse yet, so I'm thinking it'll be more like Tuesday or Wednesday next week at this rate! I need it before Thursday though, as we've got a new computer chair being delivered (we all share the chair as there's not space in the room for more than one chair ;)), and I don't want all the cables stretched across the room from their computer to my monitor!

I was getting on well with the data shredding on their old computer yesterday, but today it gave me a blue screen error and I had to reinstall windows (yet again).... so that put me about 2 or 3 hours behind where I wanted to be :K Then the data shredding programme refused to install again, so I had to find a different (free) one! I'm hoping this will work though, and I'm determined to not switch the computer off until it's finished, just in case it gives yet another blue screen error ;)

Aww on not sleeping well :( Is there anything you can do to try and help that? And I guess you can't really skip the cleaning if you want to put the Christmas decorations up, as once they're in place, cleaning gets a bit more challenging ;)

any time :) Yes we did have just that :) sadly, though I got a terrible full out, lay in bed with lights off migraine around 2.30 and it got only worse as the day went on. In fact, I've not been much better today, though I did get some decorating in at least. Hope you are well.

I got Dad's files transferred, but when I was trying to 'shred' the files from the old computer (so it can then go to the recycling centre), the computer crashed again.... and I had to reinstall windows once more - all of that, just to remove the files so nobody can access them! I finally got the old computer finished with at about 10pm last night, so today I've given myself a day off from sorting anything to do with their new computer :P

Aww on the migraines being so rotten squishes gently Hopefully they'll ease up a bit today :)
