Thanks. :D Decided to change to something different and found this one in my presets. :)

Certainly. It is not worth the hassle. I can't really read lips either like some people can, so that makes it a bit more tricky.

The worst part for me was the boredom and how everyday was the same. I could be stuck at the register for 8 hours.. including 30 minute break and a couple of short breaks. :P

it almost has a Scottish feel to it with the heather in the background ;)

I don't know how people manage to lipread - I would just get so frustrated at people who talk while barely moving their lips! 😊

Ewww now that definitely would be mind numbing! I worked in a supermarket for 3 hours of an evening after school, and that was bad enough!

I have to agree from what I have seen from Scotland. :D It reminds me of our cabin too and the area surrounding it. :)

I just don't know how people do it well to begin with. o-o Even though it would be a very useful skill to have.

I worked there full time for quite some time, so hence these long shifts. ;) And the store was big enough that you were hired to work at a certain area... like casheer, flowers, bakery etc. That mean that you were stuck doing the same task and not much variation.

my Gran always wanted to go to Scotland - maybe one year I might get there ;)

nods it would definitely be useful - I wonder if there's courses to teach you how to lip read....?

That definitely is monotonous! The supermarket I worked in was pretty small, but they still had one person who only worked on bakery, another who only did fresh fruit & veg, some who just did shelf stacking, then those of us who were stuck on the tills all the time ;) Variety really helps when you're working in retail!

well its been several rough days but we’re finally calming down. So the last few days have been hell, I swear. Thursday was running around and I can't even remember all the things, Friday we had someone from my parents church come at 10 to look at my car as the power steering light came on and it's been over a month since it's been driven, but at the same time direct tv showed up to install the satellite. THat was hectic and unfun especially with Melody.... he finally left at about lunch time. then I discovered that all the streaming telly I watch doesn't work because I streamed through the cable and I don't have a smart telly. was nearly in tears. I got a commission for 6 lap aprons three days ago that I need to make in about a month, so I had just barely enough money to buy a new telly... which was painful and unfun going to best buy with my scooter... finally get done with that and picking up fabric which i had bought online thanks to my mother floating me her paycheck. Then we drop off the cable boxes which took us to about 3. Dad got a new modem from the cable company and they didn't tell him they were going to shut off the old one... so we had no internet for 7 hours before I finally pushed dad to call again. They first said it was an outage but apparently had disabled the old modem. Then it was nearly bed time when it got sorted out... Saturday morning started with being told Dad's got chest pains and is going to the er. Which meant Mum and I were left alone with the dog. She was mostly good but pottying her was challenging since both mum and I aren't very mobile. Dad came home around two and by that time I've had a migraine. I laid down and slept but it still here. so there's my update from hell... haven't done much trick or treating in the last 3 days. Hope you all are well.

oh gosh it took me ages to know who you were talking about lol. I was thinking cousin it from addams family xd

Good luck getting some time. I got a commission for 6 lap aprons so im gonna be busy lol.

have fun with the family xd

Well I've never seen the Addams family, so Busy Bunny is the first thing I thought of :P ooo that's a great commission - hopefully it's got a good timescale before they need to be finished ;)

That sounds a nightmarish few days though! But at least you've got the tv sorted out and the internet is working properly (and with a bit of luck your migraine will have eased off a bit!) ;) How's your dad doing after his ER trip yesterday?

I think you would enjoy Scotland a lot. It is quite beautiful. The people are friendly. And you get some Harry Potter history too with things like the Jacobite train. :D

Not sure if such courses on lipreading exist.. but I feel like maybe I should learn for the future. Yikes. Not fun to think about!

I would have loved more variety! What is worse, the repetitive work gave me neck pain and my friend even got carpal tunnel syndrome. I started to get that kind of pain too.

When it rains, it pours. :( I am sorry the last days has been so stressful. How is your dad doing now? I hope he is doing better. :hugs:

My therapist messaged me today letting me know she is on sick leave so todays appointment was cancelled. Not sure how for how long.

nods I've always liked steam trains anyway, so that'd definitely be a huge plus for me! ;)

I know that our local college does courses in sign language but I think for lipreading you're pointed towards the national charity for hearing loss.... although I did find the website Lip Reading Practise (admittedly that's all in English!) which might give some tips for how to get started?

Ouch, that's no fun when you get that much pain from working! I was lucky in my second job - when I started to get bored with the department I was working on, an opportunity came up to move to a different department within the same store, so I got loads of variety over the 4 years I worked there :)

(sorry I'm so late)

That's the life you deal with when your computer is set to UK and your printer is stupid and easily confused. It doesn't help that Japanese stuff also wants to print on A4.

ETA: omgosh that's such a cute Velma outfit and I bet it wasn't expensive to put together either! I'm Ravage like I often am, but from Shattered Glass (the TF mirrorverse)

it's a shame that there isn't an obvious over-ride for paper sizes on printers / computers!

Thanks :) I didn't end up buying anything new to make that one, so it's: &

Your outfit looks great!

that's a perfectly creepy look you've got - those pumpkins look suspiciously innocent :P

Well that's a positive :) Do you tend to do the same as me and tell yourself the deadline is a week before it actually is, so there's less chance of a last minute panic? 😇

Hopefully it is nothing to serious. :) And I hope you and your family get some peace soon and easier times. :hugs:

That would be right up your alley! I bet you would love taking pictures in Scotland too.. and it has some really lovely scenery.

That is certainly something to look into. Google will be my friend. ;)

That certainly helps fight some of the boredom of the job. :D If I worked there longer I might have made it into being a shift lead, but they didn't earn that much more than us casheers anyway. :P

nods certainly in the Highlands there's some amazing scenery (a friend goes to visit his parents there, and because the bus usually breaks down on one particularly scenic stretch of road, he ends up taking loads of photos)

From what I saw when I had a rummage online yesterday, it seems you can learn some of the basics by watching yourself talk in a mirror - then you kid of start learning the basic shapes for each word, although I think once you've got a bit of an idea, there's probably better ways to progress! ;)

That sounds very much like the wages in that job I was in - you got more responsibility, but hardly anything extra for your wages (and going up to management wasn't much better either!)

Its update time. I had my appointment today with my doctor and the cast is now gone. He put a tight wrap around the leg and foot in its stead. He also gave me a shot in the base of my foot which hurt like a son of a motherless goat. Oh my word. He gave me some meds to take as well. I was told to resume my normal activities minus the kickboxing and dancing. Hopefully it’ll calm down as its very angry today. We also worked on shopping online. We have pick ups tomorrow. I’ll have to do it mostly sitting as I probably can’t do it all just yet. I did cut two of the lap aprons out though so they are ready for the machine xd. Im flatout lmao. But I’ve got rather a lot done despite the pain im in. The painkillers he prescribed help though so thats a plus.

Paddy—why thank you xd. Lol i had to get these murderous pumpkins. Hehe they were just too cute.

No but i do have problems with keeping a good pace and not trying to do it all at once cos im all spasy and like ooooohhh… but i still have 13million things left! Lmao

amen to that!! Times two lol

It must be nice to get the cast off.. Ouch at the shot tho. >_< Mostly normal activities sounds like good progress. I am sure you will be able to get back into dancing and kickboxing too. :D

The highlands are beautiful! And a train is a great way to see it actually. :D Even though less ideal for taking photos. :P

I never thought about watching myself speak in the mirror. That might be a good place to start. :D Hearing aid tech keeps getting better too with time, which gives some hope.

Almost doesn't seem worth it with the added stress if you are not getting a proper pay rise. I guess it at least it looks better on your resume. :P

ooo that's a great HA-less look today :)

Yay on the cast being gone, and hopefully the wrap isn't too uncomfortable squishes That shot sounds like a nasty one though, so I hope you don't need any more of those in the future. That's great going on the two lap aprons, especially cutting out fabric while sitting down (I can never achieve that - I even have to stand up to cut wrapping paper!)

One thing I found useful for things like those blog posts that have a deadline, is to have a guideline written down on a mini calendar of what I (ideally) need to have done by a certain point (so cutting the fabric in the first week, two weeks for the sewing, a week for the writing, then the photos) - if I over-estimate how long everything takes, then I can actually be ahead of time and feel like I'm not behind for once :P

I'd be the person sitting in a field just waiting for the train to go by so I could take a photo of the scenery and the train!

Honestly that hadn't even dawned on me until I read it. And

nods although the last retail job I went for (deputy store manager), it turned out that the assistant manager from my old job had also applied (that assistant manager really didn't believe that I hadn't lied on my application, seeing as I got the job and she didn't, as she'd been in that kind of role already and I'd 'only' been a manager on one department).

he said no more kickboxing ever. And no to the cardio dancing games either. I have already sold them back to Gamestop. How are you? I'm super sleepy. I only got 2 hours of sleep yesterday but I did a hellava lot too. lol.

why thank you. was the mastermind behind the fishbowl ha, which I've always adored :) so that's why I wanted to make it look enchanted :D really? I always sit down :D I got a third apron cut of yesterday and two aprons got the interfacing ironed on. Not bad with tons of picking up and putting away errands huh? XD

LOL too organised for me there. I think I'd get bored before I finished making the list. I guess I'm too much of a doer sometimes? don't know.

your ha is so charming and pretty :)

that's one reason why I only chat on one thread - any more than that, and it's too much to keep up with!

takes a few steps back to admire your HA from a safe distance Sorn looks stunning! :)

nods cutting out anything other than a small piece of card that I can hold in my hand, needs to be done standing :P Whoa, that's impressive progress! You'll have those finished way before your deadline at this rate :)

Ah, well I made the list on a day when the fabric was still in the washing machine, so there was no chance of getting on with any cutting out or sewing then. And because 'wash the fabric' was on the list, I could tick something off instantly 😇

I am sorry they had such bad news for you. >_< I am sleepy too.. as I didn't fall asleep until the morning and even then I didn't sleep too well.

We were told a lot of people do just that, wait around for the train so that they can take some photos. ;)

You must have impressed them with your application and job interview then. :D I have never had any managerial roles. I was happy just being a regular worker. :)
