Aren't the other two about Meg's and Calvin's kids, or are those the ones about the twins? Actually...wasn't one of the ones about the twins called The Young Unicorn or something? I've only read the first three and I'm very fond of all of them, though A Wrinkle in Time will always be my favourite. I was really thinking about the books that involved the three of them, :)
Thank you! I do love it, I have a group of girls that the librarian and the teachers call my 'posse'...when the ethics teacher didn't show up one time, I taught the group some fun mind games and riddles, which they all enjoyed and soon they kept coming to talk to me. So when they were in the library, I would help them find books and such...Olivia (the one I loaned the books to) has read the other books in The Giver series now as well.
I think what I liked most about it, is that is can bring up so many interesting conversations. I asked Olivia if she thought they had the right idea. Should we make everyone the same...should we get rid of all feelings, and colour...is that what we need to do if we want to make everyone get along. And she said no, because they got rid of love and love is so important.
you know I can’t 100% recall....haha its been awhile for me too.... but yes I think there’s one with the twins (one of the first three I believe) and there is one with Meg’s kids too but I guess I always kind of tied all 5 together since its the same world/same characters we see in A Wrinkle in Time lol :) I’m not sure of the Young Unicorn...I think Many Waters is the twins if I recall right :) All 5 are definitely worth a read of course....but I always liked a Wrinkle in Time as my fav too...probably because it introduces us to such an extraordinary world right? :)

Hey, I did the same thing last year! Bought the entire Dark Tower series (7 books) as a present to myself. :P
I love reading Santa Monefiore, nothing like some romantic books to dream away. And Carlos Ruiz Zafon, his entire Cemetery of Forgotten books series (haven't gotten the last one though, it's on my to buy list). Books about books, can't get better than that!
Exactly. I found A Wind in the Door too...I dunno, chatty? It seemed like there was a lot more talk, than action, if that makes sense? And as for A Swiftly Turning Planet, I loved the concept used for travel. Olivia and I were talking about that, and we made up this whole scenario about how getting rid of one person could change everything.
When I want a light read, I go back and reread the "Dark is Rising" series. They're short books, but really well written, and a great storyline. I also love to reread anything by Gene Stratton-Porter. At the moment, I'm reading two books, but neither is truly for fun, unfortunately.
With an English student, I'm reading "Final Girls". I picked it because out of the limited number of English books at our bookstore, it was the most level appropriate, using present simple and past simple clearly, so my student doesn't get... lost in time? Reviews on the book are pretty mixed, but I don't think it's too bad. Not so far, anyway...
Then, with a friend, I'm reading "Tod in Winterthur" (Death in Winterthur). That's OUR language practice, trying to read a book in German, by an actual Swiss author. It seems like a pretty decent book, but we're going through it pretty slowly.

its been so long for me I don’t even remember haha :) There’s definitely a lot of action in the first one though! I just looked it up and it looks like Many Waters is the twins, An Acceptable time is a girl named Polly (I think you’re right and that might be Meg’s kiddo) and Swiftly that’s with the mad dog right? And that is so true on getting rid of a person lol :) Now I’m craving re-reading this series :) My stepdad was the one who introduced me to A Wrinkle in Time when I was like 11 or 12? Then I didn’t remember them till I was well into adulthood and bought all 5 books...I think they only have 5 books, which is too bad haha I’d totally buy more in that world :)

I've not really been a big novel reader as I find them difficult, but I love graphic novels. I can tell if it's a great one if I like to re-read them again and Blacksad is one of them (as well as I Kill Giants!)
I'm waiting quite impatiently for the next book in the Dresden Files to come out. I always go back and re-read the previous books when the new one comes out.
Do you have a rare item that just won't sell? Are you going through the high levels of Item Hunt? Or maybe you just HATE that blue bunny? Then you should join IHH helpers and IHH bargain in the forum groups!
Yes, A Swiftly Turning Planet is when Charles rides a unicorn and goes back in time and 'becomes' certain people in order to stop Mad Dog...or something like that. It's been a while, I need to read it again.
But our little scenario was like
"Okay, Letter T is evil, and T was born because W meet X, so we need to stop W and X from meeting. But if we stop them then W can't go to this University, so we need to make sure that C doesn't accept her." It was a bit more dramatic than that...but we jumped all over the place with it
in case is hasn't been said in 1000 posts by now...
HARRY POTTER
also the hobbit/lord of the rings, obviously...
Just finished reading The Wings of the Dove. Took me two months. Now rereading the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series.

This just popped into my mind...anyone fond of the His Dark Materials trilogy? I've asked Santa for The Book of Dust and I can't wait to read it! :D
I LOVE DIVERGENT!!! I have probably read that series every three months or so depending on my college/work schedule. I was hooked before the movie even started... I hate the movie... I am currently ready the Uglies series.
I just finished reading 'The Roman' by Mika Waltari, which was quite an amazing, if rather dark, page-turner. I do find myself drawn to childhood favorites, such as Malka, Wolf Brother, Marlfox, Island of the Blue Dolphins, and Dragonriders of Pern. I have re-re-re-read both Interview with a Vampire and 1984. I have a lot of others that I love and just cannot think of at the moment, but I will probably re-read within the next year. ^_^
I read Uglies (just the first one) in University as part of my Children's Lit and Social Justice course. Very interesting book.
I'm reading several books for fun lately! Fallen by Lauren Kate, Angelfall by Susan Ee, Die for me by Amy Plum, Runelight by Joanne Harris.... and alot more I can't remember! I love those kind of books for some reasons.
I keep thinking of things to say...lol
Has anyone read the book Caraval by Stephanie Garber? I saw it today and it kinda caught my attention...
Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand :)
I just finished Annihilation by Jeff Vandermeer and am in the middle of the second Southern Reach book, Acceptance. I'm also reading Jade City by Fonda Lee, Fisher of Bones by Sarah Gailey and, for lighter funny reading, Earth Before Us: Dinosaur Empire by Abby Howard. I highly recommend all of them!
I don’t remember him becoming other people but now that you say it it does sound vaguely familiar.... What was the one where Charles is sick and I think Meg becomes part of his atoms or whatever in order to help find out what was wrong with him so he could heal?
