My story: Having moved to New Zealand from Canada, Christmas is now a very strange affair. I find it hard to get into the Christmas spirit now that Christmas occurs when its about 28 Degrees Celsius, sunny and green. All of my awesome hideous Christmas sweaters are more like a punishment than a celebration when I drag them out. The first year we were here I was adamant I was still going to wear one though. We had Christmas on the beach, full picnic and sunshine. We have photos of everyone is singlets and swim wear and then there is me: bright red with heat sweating profusely just to save tradition. I ended up so dehydrated I could hardly move the next day and had to drink about 4 liters of water to come right. Thankfully I have become less stubborn and adapted to my new surroundings. However, I still make sure we have a midwinter Christmas to enjoy all of my sweaters at an appropriate time of the year!
Thanks for pinging me! :D
I've already entered myself, but still really appreciate this nonetheless.

Here's my story for the year: I was playing with my dog the other day. Our living room is linked with our dining room and the tree is in the living room. I was in the dining room. I threw her favorite toy for her to go fetch right into the tree on accident. OH DEAR. This little 15 pound Shih Zue went plowing into the Christmas tree like she owned it. Ornaments went flying, lights went twisting, garland went garlanding and before I knew it my little Shih Zue was about to pull the 6 and a half foot tree down on her. WOWZERS. Good thing I moved fast and rescued her. The tree had some repair work. She now walks wide of the Christmas Tree.
My memory is when I was younger my mom and dad always made Christmas special. I always went to see Santa and always put out milk and cookies for him. I had a dog and cat so they were put in the fridge. Santa always found them. I always got what I wanted and the tree was full of presents every year.

When I was a baby, my family was visiting relatives for Christmas. I kicked off one of my shoes (probably because I didn't like them). My parents decided to let me have the shoe off for a while. Well, when they tried to put it back on, they found that my foot had grown, just in that short time! Ever since then, I have had one foot slightly bigger than the other. This leads to trouble whenever I search for new shoes. ;)

An amusing holiday story. When I was little we used to always go to my grandmothers for Christmas. My mom always baked the pies. We would bring them with us every year. It was always the same pies. Cherry, pumpkin and chocolate cream.
Well this particular year my mom made the pies as usual. We all loaded up and headed to grandmothers. The night went fine. Lots of laughter. Games. Food and family. Everything was great until...dessert.
I was sitting eating my favored pie which is pumpkin, and I started noticing certain people were giving odd looks. Discretely spitting cherry pie into napkins. My mother who was serving was oblivious of course.
At least she was, until my five year old cousin suddenly started hollering about how the pie was trying to kill him. Next thing we know my mother turns around just as he launches a cherry pit. It hits her dead center forehead and sticks there.
I at this point am dying of laughter as is most everyone else. It turns out my mom had accidentally bought non pitted cherries for the pie. Now why they even sell that with the pie fillings I have no idea.
In the end we made a game of it. Well my grandfather did. He put a can in the middle of the table and whoever could spit the most cherry pits into it from their pie got five dollars.
So yeah...there is the great pie escapade.

My little story began in April when i manged to break my leg very bad, stayed 3 months in a cast, 2 surgeries, and all this time my parents they took care of me, because i was not even able to move. But after my second surgery and removing the cast, i only stayed home 1 week, because i had exams at my university in another country, so i left in a wheelchair as my muscles atrophied and i couldn't walk, so my parents didn't see me walk at all. This Christmas i am coming back, and I am bringing them gifts and me walking, so I can't wait, it will be a good memory, and talk about the time when i used to crash the christmas tree (i was 5).

I remember the night before Christmas back when I was about seven, my family was at a Christmas party. I had just met Santa Claus and he told my sister and I that our present was too large to be given to us there. Naturally, we were both eager to go home immediately after that! Of course, we didn't get to.
My dad had disappeared earlier in the night, but neither of us noticed in our state of excitement and anticipation because we were busy begging our mom to take us home. Finally, hours later we got home and the garage door opened. My sister and I screamed and jumped out of the car. That was the day we were blessed with a new husky puppy whom we named Holly.
Unfortunately, I can't find the picture from that day, but I do have a picture of my huskies in snow around Christmas time in 2008!
Thank you for this giveaway and happy lumi :)

My favorite Christmas memories are from when I was a child and we lived in New York. I have 3 siblings so the tree was always bursting (so it seemed) with presents. Then later on I would go visit my dad and his side of the family. It was always a large family gathering. It has been years since I have had a large family gathering and I never knew how much I would miss them! <3

Once, me and my family went down to texas to visit my grandpa for christmas. It snowed! The snow only stuck around for one day, but all us kids piled out and had a snowball fight until my dad came outside. He picked up the snow shovel, loaded it up, and used it as a catapult until we all piled on him. It was really fun.
