Last year was the first year I had been away from home for school, and when I got home for Christmas break my little sister ran to the front door and tackled me with a hug and we hugged for like 5 minutes and it was one of the best parts of the Christmas because even though she doesn't show it, I could tell she had really missed me while I was away.
thank you for this!! c:

My story: It's sort of a happy/sad memory. My nana's last Christmas my mom and I were mostly living with her and taking care of her and my mom and I went just the two of us and got the Christmas tree. First time it was just us with none of the men in the family around to help. We got it off the car and into the house. It was 6ft tree. My nana was sitting on the sofa watching and directing :). We got it in the tree stand and were trying to straighten it up - I was behind the tree and mom was in front. My mom let go and the tree tipped back toward the wall and me! and I ended up under the tree. I was laughing, my mom wasn't taking the tree off me because she was laughing and I could see through the branches my grandmother was doubled over in laughter on the sofa. Happy/sad because I think at the time we all knew it would be her last Christmas with us and that was hard. But it was a fun day and it makes me smile to remember her laughing face while I was under the tree. lol

"Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees, to deprive the poor of their rights and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people, making widows their prey and robbing the orphan." - Isaiah 10:1-2
The Christmas memory that comes to mind is when my mother got re-married when I was 8, and at our first xmas with my step-grandparents they made me feel very accepted and included as part of their family :)

My favorite Christmas memory is that, while growing up on Christmas Eve we would all go to my Grandmothers house and have a big German Christmas with the whole family. There was maybe 40 of us in this small little house and we all got to eat tons of food and open gifts. It was always so nice to eat with the family and spend time all together. Now it is a bit harder, since there are like 80 of us now and we keep growing, plus some members have moved away, myself being one of them. The family still does the dinner, just not on Christmas Eve, usually the week prior. I miss going to them. It was always so nice to hang with the cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents.

Our first Christmas after my dad had built on to the house, we could get a tall tree because of how he built the ceiling. Well on Christmas morning as we were getting around, we walked into the room, my dog (little terrier) went by the tree. I don't know if she nudge it or what but it started to TIMBER! All I seen as the tree falling was my little dog trying to run as fast as possible to get away from the tree. XD She did but it was kind of funny, her little face. Poor thing.
Thank you for doing this. :)

The best memory I have is from when i was around 9 or 10 and I would go stay with my grandma and we use to start prepping for dinner. Helping her bake and cook always made me happy, the thought of it still puts a smile on my face many many years later. She is the one who taught me to always play with your food while cooking, never had anything ever taste bad or that I did not like that my grandma made.
Thank you so very much for your great kindness .. I hope your holiday season is full of awesome family, super friends, and a bunch of new memories are made for you and all of yours.

My story:
I spent last year's christmas with my gf's parents for the first time and they were so accepting. I felt immediatly welcomed into family even though they don't know me that well yet. Plus they have an awesome tradition of having a meat fondue for Christmas Dinner to encourage talking and bonding with family members __ So I'm really looking forward to this year as this will soothe my bad coinscience that I have for not being able to visit my family.

My Story: So, when I was a child, my Papaw wanted to make his house more Christmas-ey for our visit. Because he didn't have much money, he decided to make some outdoor decorations himself. So, using a stray piece of plywood, pie tins, and paint, he made what has to be the ugliest Christmas tree on earth. But of course, we loved it. Along with it was a giant hand painted sign that said "Merry Christmas", also ugly. All the adults were horrified that he put that out in his front lawn, but the kids thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. Fast forward to this year, my papaw passed away many years ago, and my dad doesn't want to go to the trouble of putting out outdoor decorations or lights- partially because he's so busy but mostly because it's too exhausting for him. He doesn't even want us to put up decorations outside out of fear that he'll have to take them down himself. So he's banned outdoor decor. I call up my Mamaw, get that ugly pie tin tree from her attic, and place it smack dab in the middle of the yard. I told my dad I'm not taking it down till he buys something else so that we don't look like the scrooge of the block- haha. Needless to say, he's stopping by Lowes on his way home to pick up a few decorations that will be easy to put up and take down.

Heartwarming story: A couple weeks ago I got to spend quality time with my mom by shopping. Near the end she said I could buy something for myself (doesn't happen very often). We had lots of fun discussing what to get and it felt nice to be with her - just me and her - shopping for non-food items.

Heartwarming story: So I have always loved the snow and the first year my "now" husband and I were together it snowed on Christmas I feel like it just added to the day we got to spend together. I also recently saw a post about a kitten that had been caught in a snow storm, almost froze to death but this family brought it in, did CPR and saved its life and now they have a new kitten :D

My story: I remember baking cookies and other goodies with my mom as a kid, she'd let me knead dough and we even had a dough fight one year, it was so fun! We ended up covered in flour and dough and it was a big mess, but the smile on my mom's face knowing that we had such a good time together more than made up for it. That memory is warm to me because she died a few years ago and memories like that, the good ones, keep my happiness going this time of year so that the grief is lessened (if that makes any sense).

Heartwarming Story: The best memory I have from the christmas celebration is those days when the whole family would come together. My mum and I together in the kitchen all day prepping for it, we did a lot of cooking and baking on those days. My mum taught me everything she knew about cooking and baking. It was the start of my love for food, especially the baking part LOL
thank you love for sharing <3

My story? uh quite hard to choose :) But my personal story is first sad but out of it it comes the best thing I never expected to happen to me. My parents got divorced and I really felt down. So I started to talk to a rather stranger in a game I started to play. After a few weeks I knew that he also hadnt had such a good childhood and his parents also got divorced and we started to talk about mroe private things. That was nearly 4 years ago and on the 26th of December we will have our 3 1/2 anniversary :)

Story: I remember one year we had to shut all of our dogs outside on the covered porch while we opened presents, and the poor things looked absolutely miserable. But, we had too much chocolate out that would make them sick other wise. So, after we finished opening presents and cleaned up my mom let them back in and put some wet dog food and dog treats in their bowls and wrapped them up, so the dogs got to feel like they unwrapped presents too. <3
