Ok so Hi guys ! My morning has been fun. Not. So I went to work, feeling just fine. Ate a mandarin orange and some mini chocolate donuts for breakfast. Shortly after that I started feeling a little off. Not sick or anything, just weird. About 820ish I sat down to drink some water and sort out some papers for next week while lead teacher read a story. Felt flushed, so drank some more water. Still felt flushed and weird and I knew my blood pressure has been higher than normal the last few nights I've taken it - so when she finished story I told her I was going up to nurse to check blood pressure. IT was HIIIIIIGH. So like, I asked off to go to the doctor because I really didnt' feel well about it. Principal insisted the counselor and another office assistant drive me over (one drove me in my car, the other went to bring the first lady back), he said he didnt' feel safe letting me go on my own he would feel terrible if anything happened while I was driving not feeling well with blood pressure like that. So anyway. i was at Dr from like 9ish to 12ish. They did an EKG, a heart xray, bloodwork, urine test. Took my blood pressure twice while I was there (once at the beginning, once before doing blood work). It lowered back down to a safe level (tho still high) so they let me come home and increased my medication dosage. Said to track it for 3 weeks, 2x a day and if it doesn't lower below "this" then to return for follow up visit, otherwise come back in 3m for a check up on it.

That doesn't sound like it will take too long :) I would like solar panels myself one day. Guess I joined your "sick club" lucy!! :P I still have my headache too. The doctor I was with said Excedrin would be better for headache, but I didn't have any. Stopped and got some on the way home after I picked up Nathan, will take that in another hour or two when the Tylenol dose wears off. And wow, when I got my prescriptions this time, they actually filled all 90 days :o For 2 meds. I need to get the other refilled soon. Maybe they'll give me a 90 day supply of that too but I doubt it. Oh well.

While I was home I put my time to good use after eating/resting....I did my chapter 1 test in one class, (100), and watched the videos/read over the assignment (oh yay, I get to write a short paper) for another class. After I do that paper I will look to see what I can do in the third class (probably tomorrow or Friday before I get to that).

EDIT : Can I ... can I just .... urgh my child. THIRD day of the semester. I've had TWO phone calls the past two days saying he was marked absent (he says the teacher didn't hear him respond to roll call, I believe him as he has never skipped school EVER and he does NOT speak up loudly most of the time). Today a different teacher calls to say he put his head down and refused to do work this morning sigh. I get it kid. I do! Early mornings are not your thing. School is not your thing. TWO ENGLISH classes back to back is not your thing. But its what you have to deal with. DO THE DAMN WORK! "dont worry about it mom. I'll get it done" YES YES FINE BUT DO IT WHEN ITS SUPPOSED TO BE DONE!!!! ARRRRRRRGGHHHHH also : "two english classes, spanish and chemistry is very stressful" SO IS FREAKING GETTING A PHONE CALL ON THE THIRD DAY OF THE SEMESTER!!!!!! sorry for all the "yelling"

[edit] 5pm Ok so I just checked all my school emails...and guys. I'm just soooooo..... wordless. So Like I already jsut got that PEBT Card in the mail....and in my school email was a video clip and a letter - they are giving all full time school employees $1000 bonus by Monday!! :o Guys. That just .... that just makes me so happy. To get this extra funds. I was able to stock up groceries. And now I'll be able to pay these stupid doctor bills and my small college tuition and even pay Nathan back w/o worrying about that stupid gift card. Which, I did decide to go ahead and try to get a replacement one. Yes I will keep an eye on my bank account as well going forward, its the only card I have. No other accounts or anything else to worry about weird charges coming from. I will also request a copy of my credit report within the next month, as you can get one annually and I haven't gotten one in I don't know when. Just to keep an eye on it ;)

[edit] 645pm Break for dinner, Just now came back and finished quests. 83 NY Token, 1 Morty Card, 2 Amulets. No good items. Going to do battle and then go back and watch that video for the class paper again.

We're getting a crazy storm here, like a spring storm on steroids. Mass rain, hail, thunder and lightning... IN WINTER!! It's craaaazy, but cool. :P All the weather patterns going on over the last several months have been really interesting.

Kat, I was so sorry to read about your ordeals yesterday. I hope you can find a better way to get your blood pressure under control because they will just keep adding more meds on top of increasing the current one just to counteract the effects of the current one.
Really good to see the nice bonus you guys are getting! I know that's gotta feel like an incredible relief.

Aww Luce. I hope you get to feeling better much sooner so you can enjoy all the new improvements you guys have had done.

Aaaand there go the sirens and firetrucks and police. That last downpour "caused" accidents nearby.

Got my car back, and my couch! Of course, my brother still doesn't have his shit together and instead of trying to finance a car (couldn't without a license, anyway), he's just living where ever rent/bill free, saving money for whatever car he can find. I just found out that he still hasn't gotten the electric turned back on at his house b/c he's "saving for a car". Dude, it's been several months now and all you've BEEN doing is saving!! Only kids living with their parents should be doing that! Grow up!!! Picking up my daughter today from the airport (evening) so I'm going to put that nonsense out of my head and just enjoy her visit.

Well the only non-medical way I can figure out is drink waaaay more water (I know I probably don't drink enough water but I do drink other things....) And exercise. I guess maybe I should start walking g again. Or attempting easy step aerobics at home. Maybe even just yoga....

Yikes for stormy weather. We are supposed to get rain this afternoon. Yay. Car rider duty in the rain! Storms do cause people to drive oddly and as you said "cause" more accidents.

Sounds like your brother is saving the same way Shane is....by spending it on random crap he probably doesn't need, eating out, cigarettes, and gosh only knows what else.

Enjoy your daughter visit! I know you will 😉

Oh yea. I wrote my paper. I feel I did ok on it. Haven't submitted it yet. I realized it's not even due til the 19th lol

[Edit] Guys. Tornado at my house. We are ok. Poor Belle was outside still because it came up so fast. She's ok. We are ok. I have power out, tree on my porch. Trees down everywhere. Ryan came and take us to his house. Neighbors way worse off than me. ☹️

Wholly shit, Kat!! That's crazy! Is it normal to have those at this time of year? Wow. Really good that Ryan still has electric. Hope they get the power back on soon. I'm sure there's gotta be a lot of cleanup to do, first.

[edit] Found this article. EF-0 to EF-1 tornados. Thankfully they were pretty small.
The neighbors trees are my biggest concern during high wind storms. The one closest to me would fall directly on my house, since it's already leaning my way.

Not that I'm aware of. I wont say never. We have storms but not normally tornados. He lives in Milner about 15-20min south of us. They had storm and wind but no tornado. It took him over an hour to navigate the roads to get to the house. We are headed to locust Grove Walmart to see if we can get a chainsaw. Then back to the house. School got cancelled for today Middle school kids were held at schools til late last night. Some didn't get back with parents til midnight and 3am!!! (Those 3 am kids, like 15 of them, were transported to central offices til they could contact parents) It's insane here right now, what can I say!! 😲

If my neighbors house wasn't there,y house would have trees all up in it. Sideways and top to bottom, the way it went. There were so many pines and dead trees over in the property beside them

Were the kids held at school due to the inability to contact parents or what? That's the first place I would've been heading for my little ones. It's insane to keep them until that late!

Good luck finding a chainsaw. I bet everyone wants one right now. Saw some pictures and there were pines down all over. Didn't realize GA had so many of them, as I thought they were mostly a middle to upper northern tree for the most part.

Figured the kids would be off today. Too much chaos for all involved.

Bus riders mostly. They held the buses from driving due to weather so held the kids. Some was inability to contact (those really late ones) or inability to get thru to the school. Tons of tres blocking tons of roads. Kids were safer at school at that point. We got one in locust Grove, they weren't hit. Front porch almost cleared. More damage to roof than I thought. Shingles missing. Water damage in my closet so a leak somewhere....

Ryan is running the chainsaw. Nathan and I are moving limbs, branches and stuff from the porch (umbrellas, tools , plants etc) Taking a break for lunch but don't know what we want and we are all tired already Porch is clear. Yard and driveway is slowly being worked on Neighbors are boxing up thier stuff and moving out. Taped a shower curtain onto my car to keep rain out as it supposed to rain more later

Did your windshield or all windows get busted on your car?
I hope your insurance will cover the majority of the damage so there's not more stress put upon you and Nathan.

The back window (it's a hatchback) is busted completely out. Driver side back lights busted completely. Hatch smashed in some, side/back panel of car smashed in some. I'll get pictures up soon. I am hoping home owners insurance will take care of it. Haven't called yet. Keep forgetting it's been crazy working to clear the front door and some of the yard to make sure the water pipes were ok (we have water so we thought so but tree down across them....) Neighbor called hers, they won't even come out til next week for her. Ugh. [Edit] Ok so I called. Asked some questions. One person said they don't cover cars another said they did, or at least implied it in their answer when I was talking about the car. So likely I won't have my car covered. Sigh. However an adjuster will contact me by Monday. Dont know of that means phone call or in person. I can't figure out how to do pictures on the phone so that will have to wait until I can use a computer again

Yep. And it will probably only be stupider before it gets done. But eh. It'll all get dealt with. Ryan took and drove my car. He had to go get his trailer loaded as he is working tomorrow to make up for taking off today to help me. We wanted to make sure it ran ok. It made a crunchy noise when I pulled it forward to get it off all the debris. We are staying at his house again tonight due to still not having power and I brought all my groceries over here to put in his fridge/freezer. Me and Nathan will go back over tomorrow. We put Belle in the bathroom with food and water since it's so cold tonight (down to about 35*)

Oh gosh Kat, that's all so insane!

Car insurance will cover it even if the homeowners won't though, surely? And it shouldn't cause it to go up, since it wasn't an accident?

I'm glad you guys have a safe place to go, and I'm glad everyone is OK!

Also, at least around here, if there's storms, etc, the schools are always set up as shelters, so it really probably was the safest place for everyone.

I'm glad things aren't TOO too bad there, asidwe from teh car and cleanup.

Poor BGelle. How's she doing after being stuck outside in that?

If I had full coverage the car insurance would but I only have basic liability. So I'm pretty sure they won't Belle was scared to go out onto the runner line the last few days so I've let her stay in the house while we are working in the yard. I've shut her into the bathroom overnights. She is out on the line now and doing ok now tho

[edit] 850pm I dragged my computer over to Ryans house so I could do some school work. I am sooo sleepy tho. I did manage to finish reading chapter 1 in my 3rd class, take that quiz, and put together a lesson plan/parent letter to submit. I also submitted the written paper for the 2nd class. What fun. Debating trying to read chapter 2 for my 3rd class. The first class still doesn't have anything else listed that I can do - maybe it will show up tomorrow, after all, the work is supposed to be turned in by Monday midnights.

Oh and speaking of school - for work - we are all out on Monday for MLK day, we are all out on Tuesday for continued tornado clean up, the kids are out on Wednesday but staff has to report. I guess we will see if the kids come back Thursday or not eh? :) And finally, since I have my computer ... some pictures for since she can't see my facebook posts

pix Front porch from the door - Thursday night front porch from outside - Friday morning My poor car :( a glimpse down the driveway
The porch is completely cleaned up now. The dog's runner line area is completely cleaned up (you can see the doghouse in the picture with my car, the runner line goes from there back to that house you see behind it-that's our "backhouse" we use for storage). The driveway - I spent today raking all the crap off of it so I wasn't running over sticks/pine cones etc. So its pretty cleaned up. Been working on picking up random sticks/branches all over the yard too. Ryan and boys (Shane came home today but dropped him back at his truck to sleep) have been using the chainsaw cutting up huge trees/branches and piling logs up, clearing large branches out of the way to make space for using the chainsaw, etc.

Thanks for thinking of me with the pics, Kat. That's crazy. That tree was so close to the house. Man you just got that car too, right?
I can't believe how that pine just snapped! When I saw other pictures of the damages just in Georgia, (Alabama had an EF-3 tornado) it was mostly pines that were knocked over.

I don't know how homeowner's insurance works, but does it cover stuff that's on the property like the car? I take it they still haven't restored electricity? Gawd our infrastructures suck.

Jeeeeez. I hope Ryan isn't complaining about the work and the kids are keeping their mouths shut, too. Gen Z'ers really seem to be hands off when it comes to helping parents or just complaining immensely about it.

Keep me updated (since I'm not on FB) and thank you for doing so! <3

Nah we are all getting along ( moment or two of "no! Don't do that, do this" ) for the most part m Shane and Nathan are both being helpful. We are taking it slow and easy now that the porch/driveway is done. Found a hole in the roof (went into the attic). Can't get anyone out to put up a tarp (we have no safe way to get up there and it's a very steep roof too besides) ... I called the number for help and they said it would be a few days. It's supposed to rain tomorrow and several days after that. Hope I don't get too much ceiling damage.

The owner of the property next door got someone to come out so they are cutting the trees out of that house and they just brought a bobcat up the driveway....not sure what they're going to do with that

If you could see my road....and other areas....it's not that they aren't working to restore power but there is sooooo much damage. I saw a post from the power company saying they had already found over 270 poles down (not just lines but snapped broken poles) and that was on Saturday. I see them creeping closer and closer to my location.

Yep I just got the car in Oct. I don't know if they will consider the car personal property and replace/repair it or not. One person on the phone said yes, another said no. I'm just going to wait on the insurance adjuster that I see in person and hope to get a yes from him/her.

And btw, that was just a part of a tree on my porch 😲 not a whole tree. Yes it's insane how many there are. But we have like 5 oak trees down too.

[edit] 8pm wow guys. saw this on facebook...

According to GEMA, FEMA, National Weather Service, Spalding County EMA, and City of Griffin:

  1. A total of 5 tornados hit Spalding County and the City of Griffin
  2. The City of Griffin had 60% of their electric service system destroyed
  3. There are approximately 150 linemen working that came from outside of the county to help
  4. It is estimated that there is at least 1.5 million cubic yards of debris left in the tornado’s wake.

and got this from part of a school email from principal. "As of right now there are still approximately 2800 homes without power."

Wow Kat, that's crazy!

I know here, we had something like 50% of our poles snap during a freak storm this fall, and power was out for a week in parts of town. Which is insane, but they were working hard, there's just so much work. They had people in from NY to help fix it and it still took that long.

Hopefully yours is back on sooner, rather than later!
