I just hate pink for ME, i don't mind it for other people :P
We have 3 makeup days now, and we do on-line for a bunch. But sometimes when we get more than a foot of snow, the internet goes out for a lot of people. And a lot of kids don't even have internet at home so.. it's kind of a mess!
I do like it instead of going to class forever, because kids pass out in the summer because it's so hot in the schools. Ridiculous.
It's OK Taarna, my entire house is torquoise/teal. The kids call it 'the color of our lives'. Whatever makes us happy! :P
I um.. I had cheese-its for breakfast.
LOL breakfast of champions!
That sounds like a pretty color for a house. <3

I've added in some kinder hippos. It's a morning for me :P And being lazy! haha.
I love it! Well, actually.. just the downstairs is that color. The kitchen/living room, the hallway, the dining room, and most of the bathroom. And half the upstairs bathroom. The rest of the upstairs, the living room, office/playroom, stairs, etc are all carrot, and the ceiling is peach bisque. :P Izzys room is blue and blue, Lilys is purple and lavender, and Ellys is red. We uh.. we don't shy away from color here?
Kinder Hippos?? Is that chocolate, like the kinder eggs?
My kitchen is a cream/tan/chocolate theme-not completely painted yet tho - so um hot chocolate theme I guess? hahaha. Other main rooms are still white. Kids have painted their rooms tho. Currently Nathans (katies old room, which used to be pink/green) is black and red, the middle room (storage now) is his old green/orange with chalkboard stripe, and the "game room" (hahah used to be Shanes, and then Katies room when they switched around, tho it never got repainted). Is green/brown with a ummm sort of camo wall.
We have break after break after break it seems. I kind of don't mind, we don't usually have any make up days - and if we do they try and use the Feb break days first rather than add to end of year. Supposedly there are like 3-5 days built into the schedule so we don't have to actually do make up days tho? or something like that. But yea - it makes for a short summer, tho we go back TOO early to me, as you said, its too HOT - but we go back in August (usually by the 2nd week), and get out before Memorial Day in May. And have a weeklong break in Oct, Nov, Feb, and April. Plus the 2 weeks in Dec/Jan. And a few random 1 days here and there for holidays. (like MLK/Labor Day) I kind of would rather go back in late August or early Sept and have a bit longer of a summer break, and maybe one less week-long break during the year.
Thooooo, to be fair, there are some times by the break comes along that I am MORE than ready for a break!, so there is that lol
Anyhoo, breakfast was actually annoying :( I'm so disappointed. Oh well tho. Shrug it off. Went to IHOP, waited for over 10min, no one even noticed us there....we decided to leave - they were not busy, and did have "hiring" signs up, but still! Went to Cracker Barrel. Got seated right away, but found out they don't serve my fruit topping of choice anymore. They left the butter on hubby's pancakes, even tho we requested no butter (and the waitress didn't offer to go have them remade, tho she did apologize and said she told them no butter!). Then she had forgot my fruit topping I picked - brought it later, but it wasn't really fruit topping, it was basically cooked apples....ugh. So then I asked for powdered sugar instead (I like that on my french toast if I don't have fruit topping, instead of syrup) - but they don't have powdered sugar??? And the eggs were slightly burnt on one side and undercooked on the other????!! How do you even do that. But like I said "Shrug it off". It wasn't terrible. Just disappointing.
Going back mid-August for kids was terrible. Like, just let them enjoy the last of the summer!
That does sound like an irritating breakfast, Kat. Sorry it wasn't a better experience. I think that's one of the reasons why I just don't like going out.
Glad I wasn't the only one that was like "kinder hippos??" :P
My brother and I painted my living room a type of sky blue b/c I want to put clouds on the ceiling. I did my room in flamingo pink w/ a black ceiling and trim. I've got pink sakura stickers as well as flower strands on my ceiling with pink lights. My ceiling light can switch between multiple colors, too. :D

Ugh, that sounds annoying Kat!

Yeah, it's chocolate! It's delicious, far better than a kinder bueno or something. Alex got them for me last year because one of my favorites is "I want a hippopotamus for Christmas" and so.. he got me some! And then they were SO good that uh.. he ordered a case off amazon. Yum.
That sounds awesome, Taarna! I love color, I can't stand beige and browns. Though they definitely do work for some people!
We normally go back right before labor day.. as in, go to school for two days and then have the next Monday off?
And we normally get out the first week of June. There's 3 snowdays built into the calendar, but normally we end up with a lot more. I will say, there was a lot of complaining about the virtual days last year, because a lot of parents work and need their kids to shovel before they get home, I guess? But they were in school all day, so couldn't. It was seriously a big hubbub!
THIS YEAR, the last day of school is May 24th though! And school started August 26th. I don't know how they did it, since we still have the same break as always.. half day on the 23rd for Christmas, back on the 2nd. And just Good Friday and Easter Monday off for 'spring break'
NOOOO I had that song stuck in my head for TWO DAYS when I heard it in the store the other day! LOL It is a cute song though, which is why it's so catchy.
Where do you live, Mieke?
I don't really like going out b/c it's expensive and about half the time the cooks don't do s/thing right and then it's up to the server to take care of it and if they're too busy then you end up frustrated w/ them who mainly depend on tips. Other than a cook, I've worked various parts in the food industry and it SUCKS.
Went to the store... wholly shit was it busy!! Traffic is also horrible. Couldn't get out any earlier due to being so busy with work. I get back from my lunch break and there's new stuff to do that no one else seems to be helping with so to hell with it.
[edit] Yep, this is me right now. (just showed up when I posted) Can I interest you in a(n) Irritated Black Contacts for only 125CSC

I leave near Scranton, Taarna. In Pennsylvania. It's not very exciting around here :P
... unless you mean that the cows are loose again?!
Mieke really does live in teh middle of nowhere haha.
UGH I am so annoyed today. We were supposed to do Christmas pictures a month ago.. Lynne is just sitting down to cut the pajama pants out today. She just gave me the shirts for the two big girls last week, and still didn't tell me what to put on them, so fuck it, I'm just going to put something, idgaf anymore.
AND she didn't even LOOK at the fabric to realize that it came in wrong, so now she's at the fabric store, E&D aren't going to match everyone else. It's whatever.. but if she thinks anyone's taking pictures tomorrow, she's a crazy person.
Lily cried twice this morning because she didn't do her chores.. again.. after being reminded a million times.. again.
Now the three of them are making gingerbread houses and I'm upstairs, trying to figure out this whole stupid Christmas shirt thing.
I'm just over it all.
EDIT: I made the shirts. She bought the girls the wrong size shirts (she LIVES with them?!) and IDC I made them anyway. L can wear Ds, D can wear As, A can wear Ls. It's fine. IT'S FINE.
Shirts are made, gingerbread houses are made, children are being showered, and the house is being swept. So it's slightly better now, at least :P
Hopefully your day gets a lot better, Mieke. Sounds like it was a frustrating morning. :(
I was curious about where you lived b/c the schools sounded so different. I guess being so rural would make a lot of a difference.
Merry Christmas eve!

It's not THAT rural, really. There is a more rural school district in the area! haha.
There's like 800 kids from k-12, so not super super small.. but not like Alex's 217 person graduating class, either! (We had 67 :P)
But still.. yeah, basically in the middle of nowhere :P
That's small peanuts. My elementary school has 600 kids preK-5th grade alone! (We are the biggest elementary in the county, there are 11 elementary schools). The high school my son goes to has at least 1k kids.
Oh dear about the shirts/fabric/pictures. Y'all's pictures are always so awesome!!! I do hope if you take them they turn out well. (I'm sure they will). I wish I could do more pictures. My hubby refuses to do them anymore and the kids are rarely home together at the same time anymore.....and I have to go to JCPenny to get pictures done, we aren't professional picture takers!
I have developed a cold. I feel so blah. Sneezy. Coughy. Achy. All I've done today is lay around on the couch.
Merry Lumi and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!! 🎄
Hope everyone is enjoying the day together with loved ones. <3
Mieke - I wasn't thinking you were in Idaho or s/thing, lol. Now THAT's rural! You had mentioned about the internet going out and the kids barely getting time off for the winter break/holidays so I found it a bit unusual. I live in southern Ohio and we don't get a lot of snow but ice storms can be challenging. Right now it's like 60 something and raining. So much for a white Christmas.
Kat - I hope you're able to take care of yourself today and let others take on some of the chores. Nothing worse than being sick during a holiday, or birthday, or any day for that matter. Get well soon!!
Hugs to you both!

Nope, it's just a pretty poor area. And there's a lot of mountains, so that makes things hard, and, well.. people just don't care. They're trying to get internet to every area, though!
Kat, that sucks for Christmas! Hopefully everyone else can take care of stuff today and you can rest up!
Merry Christmas everyone! I haven't looked at my tree yet, but i'll get there!
We got up this morning and I was STARVING and honestly aren't kids supposed to be the first ones up? So we waited until 7, then 7:15.. then we got up and started making breakfast. And then they had to wait until breakfast was over to open their stockings from santa.. and then they ahd to pick up a bit before we went upstairs to open the presents :P But honestly, it was a pretty nice, chill morning?!
Here's to hoping you guys both have a nice, fun, relaxing, happy day!
Got some meds, so at least I am up and about a little bit. I really have enjoyed Christmas the last few years, as the kids were older, we did stockings and then breakfast, and THEN opened presents. But we mixed it up again this year. Since Katie wasn't here - we did our stockings and presents, THEN breakfast. Now cooking pies, and then will have dinner with her and open presents with her after she gets here this afternoon. If I asked, people would do for me, but I enjoy doing the pies (it's a memory of mine with my Gramma), and it's easy enough to toss the ham in the oven later. I'm using the bread machine to make dough for rolls, and I'll probably get help making those up later. (Tho that's fairly easy too). Hubby or kids will do other dishes (Mac & Cheese, Rice, Grilled Potatoes, Grilled Turkey breast, etc). We don't do up a huge meal at Christmas anymore than we do at Thanksgiving...same reason. Not huge on leftovers and usually we do lunch with leftovers for dinner...just not this time.
OMG Ya'll I feel like a bookshelf fell on top of me!! And all the food for Kayano! Yum! Lots of other nice goodies too!! I love all ya'll! Thanks so much to :
and especially the bookshelf feeling from
:D <3
Kat - I saw a comment that Mister Ed had left and was like, damn, should I have just concentrated on one book 18x? lol I had to laugh thinking about you doing a bunch of individual clicking on the items. :P You don't seem to mind, though.
Mieke - I didn't think about the area being mountainous. That makes more sense.
I had a little bit of time w/ my youngest this morning before she had to go into work (she's a blood sucker). Other than that, my holiday will be spent alone which is why I'm here, doing quests. 😔

I don't mind either way!! Eventually all the books I can get will be read 18x Or more...if I get more pets hahah!! 1 less book is 1 less book! :D
I haven't done any quests (I did go to the bathouse - 80 days! and Melody of course). My daughter is here now (got here around 230) so we opened all the rest of the gifts and now I'm using my new matching glassware (she got a set and I got a set lol) to make yeast rolls. She helped me make them up (after the bread machine was done making the dough). Now we are all relaxing (she's enjoying her new video game hahaha) so I popped back onto MY new computer (gift from hubby - I've needed a new one for a while, and we almost got one a year or two ago, but couldn't find it...so now I have it!)
UH OH We need a new board! This post is locked! This post is locked up tight, that means that you cant reply to it 😢!
(it let me edit hahah)
