Books are my favorite one, too!
We're going to my in-laws, I'm making cheesecakes tonight. Though I did realize last night when Alex was making some creme brulee that we're almost out of sugar so.. I can't make cheesecakes without it. So now I have to go to the grocery store the day before Thanksgiving.
... obviously, I'm putting that off! :P
We're picking up pizza and wings from the firehall tonight, they always do a pre-thanksgiving pizza and wing fundraiser.
What are you doing, Taarna?

YAY IT'S BEEN FOREVER
I love books but not so much my favorite as I need 18 of each cuz I'm a bookaholic with PhD pets and I read to them alllllllll I am currently reading books to them that I had stored for this holiday for page views. I will then start storing again for vesnali lol
Oh and maybe Friday, but probably Saturday we will go get our tree. Hubby likes to get it early. And without Shane, our oldest, at home (early Dec bday) I don't mind. I used to wait til after his birthday to bring out Christmas.
I got a turkey all to myself, lol. Kinda but yeah, mostly. It's really the only time of the year I eat it other than in lunchmeat form and there's so many things you can do w/ turkey meat that it was just worth it to me. Girls are usually off doing other things since they're older and have a split family (and oldest has her own) so instead of watching them bring home leftover plates that made me drool, I just got me some stuff and I'm going to enjoy basting it throughout the day.
Now I can see your passion for plushies! I think that's wonderful. I always love to see what hobbies or passions people have. I would be proud, too!
I have never gone out on BF. If there was a deal, I usually knew s/one else that was going to be out, lol. But that was rare as the online deals are pretty good and I usually catch s/thing on Cyber Monday. A lot of places have started early deals this year so a couple weeks ago when I got my first tv wall mount to put in my room, there was a nice container deal that had the lids that lock on 4 sides for only $10. Well, I did read the reviews and they said there was a lot of small containers which was ok for me b/c I like to experiment w/ homemade dressings and such - even sushi type pickled ginger, which I was able to get some this year after planting a regular ginger (from the store) in the garden. Takes several months for them to grow but I got a few nice pieces out of it. Now I need to go through and cut up the rest and freeze it.
Getting ready to make onion soup. Really wanted to get the french bread to go w/ it but even though I'm not staying w/ the keto right now, I am cutting out most of the starches. Since I got sick, I've really gotten into hot tea - Roobois (African red tea, not my fav), Dragon Pearl Black tea - they're cool looking , matcha lattes, oolong and I have some dried burdock root I've been adding in to a couple of those that has been wonderful. Still have some sencha - type of green tea - that I haven't tried but I know I'll like it... was just kinda pricey.

I can't get behind teas, but Elly loves them!
I don't much care for turkey either, but we ended up getting one the other day.
We'll have turkey cutlets one night, then make a stock and probably have turkey and biscuits, and then turkey tacos or something. IDK.
I've gone black friday shopping a lot, but it hasn't been worth it the last few years. I liked it when it was on black friday early in the morning, but then when everyone started on Thanksgiving.. blah. And now everything is on-line, there's no reason to go out!
I will say though, it was always fun. People were in such a good mood, everyone had coffee or cocoa, it was generally the first you heard Christmas music for the year, and everyone was always willing to help other people find the right sizes, reach on high shelves, etc. And everyone would talk in the checkout line, hold places so you could run to pee, whatever.
Not what you see on the news, for sure! :P
Ooh nice. Yeah I have really enjoyed the last few years with the weekly "Black Friday" deals. I've grabbed a few nice things. Last year I got two new Tupperware container sets, a huge kitchen knife set, a mini fridge (used it less than we thought but it's still nice), and a few other random bits. All while doing regular shopping lol
Gosh yeah. I can't stand there is Christmas music in the store practically right after Halloween!! Wait a while peeps! And wait on putting out Christmas stuff too. But nope 🙄
Wow that's a lot of different types of tea!! I tried hot tea a few times but just not into it. I like my southern iced tea 😉 I feel horrid spending more on just a turkey breast when I can get a whole turkey for less, but we just aren't into lots of leftovers. Hubby prefers to grill almost nightly rather than make other stuff...so it's wasteful to get a whole turkey. Glad you can use it all up tho! That's great. I do wish I could.
I've known or heard of others that are friends of friends have great experiences being out all day... actually starting the night before... in the BF deals. I thought it would be kind of a fun experience but honestly, when comparing prices throughout the year and the various sales that go on, you're not getting a good deal on much. Guess I just wanted to say I did it once - but never had the money by the end of the month, especially getting paid salary where I only get paid once a month.
I would love to have grilled stuff all the time! lol I am a bit more charcoal and fire based in my grilling, tho. Got plenty of land, but not enough of concrete or patio type area to justify getting a gas grill.
Teas haven't always been my thing. I tried green tea leaves a long time ago b/c I'm into Japanese culture a lot and it has led me to try SO many wonderful things. This time around... I don't know if it's just b/c I'm ready for it and it was so soothing when I was sick but now I feel unfulfilled if I don't have at least one hot cup of tea a day. Couple pluses - Oolong is supposedly good for weight loss, even better than green tea. Burdock root, as I read, is supposed to holistically be able to help reduce anxiety which I would LOVE to see come to fruition. (I take a med or two for it so I would really like to NOT be dependent on chemicals.)

Hubby has a charcoal grill, a gas grill, and an electric outdoor smoker right now he uses. We also have rusting in the yard, about 3-4 more grills that he used so much the bottoms burnt/rusted out or the charcoal trays did. Yay?! Need to figure out how to get rid of them ... They are hidden back behind everything but I know they are there.... I'm thinking I need a U-Haul....and a scrapyard. Lol I also have like 6 old appliances to get rid of, plus a bunch of random bits like trampoline and swing set pieces.....
ROFL omg Kat.... That's a serious grilling addiction hubby has.
I have a lot of large item garbage to be disposed of as well and it really sucks I can't just dispose of it via Rumpke (our garbage services) like anything else, but unless I want to buy 2 large garbage containers that I don't even have the room for (between the small area by the side of the house that has a walkway leading up to the side porch and then... well it would just need more cans that I don't have the room for.
Hmm... maybe I should think about making an area on the other side of the house where I can store the garbage. Concrete isn't expensive so I think I can manage that.

Yeah he loves to grill 😉❤️ I'm good with it, saves me from cooking. When he was over the road I cooked inside more. Had a picky daughter so she often had frozen pizza or chicken nuggets. I liked to make meatloaf, chili, Spanish rice, hamburger stew, hamburger helper, grilled cheese sandwiches (lazy nights). I would like to try things like chicken Alfredo or chicken parmesan, and such, but he doesn't eat that (he is picky too). Nathan and Shane ate that kind of thing but Katie didn't, which is why she'd have pizza lol made her own dinner. Now it's just Nathan home with us, and we grill a lot. We do spaghetti sometimes or pancakes for dinner, or a pot roast in the crockpot....but mostly grill steaks, pork chops, pork or beef ribs, chicken or turkey breast sometimes, pork roasts/loins sometimes. He grills our baked potatoes too and that is the best! They're delicious!
Around here, there's TONS of people who will come and pick up anything they can scrap.
I got rid of 3 old grills, a fridge that I found on the side of garage (why?!), and some lawnmowers, etc. I'm sure I could have gotten a little bit of money, if I would have driven an hour away.. but instead, they came and got everything out of my yard, and I was happy :P
There is signs up everywhere for people who'll buy scrap cars, but I've never looked into someone picking up my other scrap junk. Might have to do that too in addition to looking for a scrapyard and U-Haul lol see what's better/easier. I mean I'd like to get the $, but if it's not a lot of $, why bother hauling it myself if someone else will....
Yeah. I feel like it's not that much and I'm just happy to see it gone LOL. Though I did get $250 for the van that was rotting away in the woods. I was also very happy to see that go :P
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who celebrates!
Lily, Iz and I just watched the Macys parade.
Happy Thanksgiving! ❤
The forums are FINALLY loading again for me.
Yeah, Ellys favorite was the Sesame Street float. Iz's, ofc, was Grogu. Lily liked the Disney one, and I loveddddd the hippopotamus!
It was the first year in a while I've watched, the girls have never seen it! gasp
Hope everyone had a good day.
We were at Alex's moms house, with toasty (his brother, who was both drunk and high), drunky (his sister, who was plastered), and Drag Queen (his other sister, who was wearing a long wig, super crazy fake eyelashes, purple and gray shiny eyeshadow up to her eyebrows, and bright red lipstick.. that she reapplied literally 6 times in 3 hours).
So. Yeah.
Now we're finally home, and I'm eating leftover pizza :P
Gobble gobble! Pumpkin pie sounds so good.

Oh dear . I absolutely loved the hippopotamus too! I play that song every year at Christmas time. That and snoopy vs the red baron (all 3 even tho only 1 is Christmas lol) The parade has been a tradition here for a while. Not sure when we started but Katie has always loved watching it....so even tho she wasn't home, watched anyway lol. Then hubby watched football the rest of the day.
I didn't make the pie earlier because we had pumpkin rolls our new neighbor brought over. They were yummy. (Rolled cake with whipped cream filling). But I have to have my pie 😋
