Mass-add: This wasn't due to Subeta's tinkering ... sigh it was due to mine. :(

The mass-add code is working just fine, but the cache that I put in to reduce the lag wasn't getting updated after a mass-add, so Ark was still seeing the old, cached version of their checklist. I've changed the code to force the cache to update after a mass-add.

Ironically, the problem with the Abalone Banded Comb is also a caching issue, this time on Subeta's end. Some people are seeing the item, and some people are seeing the cached error page.

I don't know why there are so many cache issues? It seems a simple enough problem, but then why doesn't a forced refresh (ctrl f5 on my browser) work? Is it because the browser command is slightly different in each browser, or something more complicated that I just don't get?

: Ctrl-F5 only overrides local caching (caching that happens automatically on your own computer). It doesn't automatically override caching that happens on the other end. In our case, I made the caching rules too strict, because I was thinking about the lag, and not carefully thinking through all the ways that the checklists could get out of synch with the cache.

I was talking to someone the other week about the lag, and while they acknowledged that it was a bit inconvenient they were impressed with how quickly glitches and problems at SubetaLodge got handled. People understand that shit happens. What bugs them is when the same problem arises continuously and/or nothing seems to ever get done about it.

I have just enough computer knowledge to understand how much I don't know and also that a lot of what I do know is woefully out of date. Hell, back when I was first learning about computers my university was still using punch cards :P.

: We're not that far apart in age, then. I was using punch cards as late as middle school. (I wasn't programming yet, but our school used them for registration and grades, and I earned a little money during the summer typing up cards for new students (name, address, zip code, phone in a specific column format) to enter them into the system.

Everyone: Possibly connected to Subeta's downtime last night, we're unable to add items again -- when SubetaLodge goes to get the hover information, Cloudflare intervenes with their 'are you a robot' screen. I put the Melody's Cottage items into the database manually; let's hope Keith and/or Bug get this straightened out today. :/

I hope so too - the guard against ddos appears to have broken the wardrobe and a ton of the item CI links because nothing can access the database on here after the lag to confirm not a robot

Yeah, a whole bunch of things are broken right now. Hovers aren't working... wardrobe... trees ... gifts.

I don't know if I should collect Melody now while the site is up but very glitchy...or wait until things settle down, but possibly the site ends up going down and not coming back up until after site midnight.

I went to achievements to make sure my count would increase when I collected Melody...so I could screen shot if necessary for a later ticket... achievement page won't load :(

I would just collect Melody now to be sure you've got it. I went to check mine too and had the same issue. Hopefully someone on staff who can do something about this shows up soon.

The ornament from today added correctly to SL but the wearable bumbus thing just returns an empty item when you click on it so the manual add didn't work =/

yeah, I'll do that and screenshot just in case.

Osterizer - Not pinging but I hope finals go smoothly for you and your students and that they do well ❤️

I cannot remember how to do Melody items but if you need me to help with those while Osterizer is out let me know and you can give me a brief rundown on them again haha. (also your HA looks very cool)

My biggest issue is remembering to check - I'm not usually on at site midnight.

A quick run down. I can't add items from the Melody page, it doesn't register them. I usually just add from my inventory after collecting the items, but either note the sP given, or leave the page open in another tab so you can check it later.

Add items as usual, then edit and add this note: "Luminaire 2021: Melody's Cottage" that way they won't show up on the front page as newest item.

Then click the link at the top of the news page to go to Melody's cottage (or the link through the LIST menu). Click Submit to look at Melody cottage 2021 (should come up automatically).

Then fill out the form at the top of the page. The date should already be filled in, copy paste the items, one per line, add in the sP (I can't remember for sure, but I think you enter without commas, just the number). Click submit and you're done.

If something doesn't work you can redo it and try again. If it still doesn't work, you'll have to leave a note for Osterizer.
