Interesting that it hits harder, but heals less as your opponent gets weaker. Of course in a system where the opponent is just as "strong" from start to finish, it doesn't make a lot of sense.

Yeah, I thought that was odd too but then...I think the whole system is confusing and odd haha. I'm glad I did it right though! I feel a little more useful with the ability to add that kind of info as well :)

Everyone: Today marks one year that we've been without Georgie. I think we all deserve a pat on the back for soldiering on and keeping her work alive.

In the tabletop RPG system I play regularly, both yourself and your opponents get weaker when you get injured in battle. This makes a lot of sense to me, but I understand when games don't do it that way because it makes the maths so much simpler/faster to ignore real life effects like that.

But on Subeta we have a system that tries to include those kinds of effects in a system that isn't designed for it. As far as I'm concerned it just adds complexity without reason. So you have to "learn" the system instead of taking it in organically.

It would be like an author trying to make a more interesting/challenging novel by scrambling all the words. On the other hand an author might try scrambling some words, some phrases, to show a character is dyslexic for example - that could make sense and be interesting. But doing it wholesale for no reason is just frustrating.

I've been thinking about Georgie a lot over the past few weeks.

I tossed a bunch of letter E ornaments under her tree. Why did I do that? I can't remember anymore, it was related to an incident that happened several years ago. We had been talking about something....probably a Subeta glitch, or bitching about something else Subeta related. In any case it was around this time of year and when I opened my tree I got like a hundred Es dumped in my inventory.

What I do clearly remember was laughing hysterically and really appreciating Georgie's wicked sense of humor!

I really wish I could ask her about it now. We would bat around a couple of "maybe it was about this? or was it that?" and we'd gradually work out what it was and end up laughing even harder.

I honestly cannot believe it's been a year since we lost Georgie. It seems like so much less. She's forever in my heart though.

Yeah I'm with you. It's not that complicated systems are a problem, it's just that ours is complicated seemingly without rhyme or reason and doesn't follow any of the rules it sets for itself. And there's no easy on-site way to get information on what challengers have special features or certain disallowed things. It's frustrating.

I tried to make a news post with an accented e (blasé) and got an error

I just removed the accent and it posted fine. Don't think its a serious issue, and it might have been how I did it (I just copied the word from another website instead of trying to find the proper code for the accent).

It only seems to be a problem with Google/Gmail. They'll sometimes bounce confirmation emails if subetalodge.us isn't in the recipient's whitelist, and they have their security settings cranked up. If you want, I can go ahead and validate the user even without the email confirmation.

: I've looked into it further. Mail that has already bounced is probably gone, but I think I've kept future messages from bouncing. If they'll ask to have their confirmation message re-sent, it should work now.

edit Jan 17: Mail to gmail addresses is still bouncing, even though I've followed Google's instructions. I've sent them a message asking what's going on.

I told them to try again with less security, or to contact you directly to get it done manually. They replied: Perfect, tysm! I really appreciate it!
