it all depends - I should be able to see the school's fireworks from my bedroom window, but I've never seen the display from the race track or pub before.... so I'm assuming they're all visible from the main road as I think we're a bit too far down the hill to see the others, but I dunno if I'll head that way for a wander or not (think it's meant to rain again tomorrow) :P

Hey gals! Got home last night, was bit zonked so didnt get around to answering. :) the weekend was mostly nice. :) I had a meltdown late Saturday night when I realized I had majorly screwed up by ordering my return planeticket for Friday, instead of Sunday like I was supposed to. >_< non refundable ticket and the ordering a new one would cost more than I could pay. Ended up finding a cheaper bus ticket thankfully.. but yeah.. I was super upset with myself. :P Got home safely and talked to the airline- I can apply to have the taxes etc I paid on my ticket refunded at least. Other than that... loads of really nice people as usual, good food at a really nice hotel and learned a lot about my condition. Hope you gals are well. :squishes:
Keep reading:
Raven: Yay! I am glad you found a pair you liked, :D Will be much more comfortable for you since you wont have to deal with the allergic reaction too. :) Congrats!
Paddy: Its okay for doing a couple of dailies, check the news etc.. but posting on the forums- not as much. lol
I try to twist the yarn after 3 or 4 stitches, so that there wont be too long strands that can get stuck on stuff when you use it after its finished. :) The tension part is still a nightmare tho at times. :P But its more interesting and fun at times than knitting with just one solid colour tho. :)
Maybe if you make the elastic not too tight around the leg, it work better for you? :) Has to be tight enough for them to stay up tho. :P

I'm pleased the weekend went well, other than the plane ticket! But that's good that you can apply to get the taxes back at least squishes
That's true - I saw a really long strand dangling on the back of a knitted glove in a craft stall before, and realised I'd probably spend more time catching my hand in the loop rather than wearing the gloves comfortably :P
nods there's going to be a bit of trial and error (probably more error :P) with the elastic I think! I might try just threading it through the hem and tacking it with a few hand stitches just to try it out, then it'll be easier to adjust than trying to unpick a lot of machine stitches ;)

you could always watch on the telly 👼
aw man that sucks about the ticket. glad you can get something back at least -snuggles- And glad the weekend was good minus the hiccup. THanks :D
those displays aren't bit enough to be televised (I don't think they even tend to get live streamed on facebook) - in fact, I don't think they even show the main ones in the city centre like that (the main one is a charity display, so they want everyone to turn up and pay.... because there's several spots where you can see the fireworks from the outskirts of the city, they also send some of their people round there with a collecting tin :P)

I think their main reasoning was because the cafe just along from where most people were standing, had a special bonfire night event where they were selling tickets to watch the fireworks from their terrace - so the organisers of the display figured they should get some charity donations from everyone in there :P

lol i dont blame them its their event. Cheeky of the coffee shop lol
Exactly! The football club haven't realised (or don't mind) that people watch it from the opposite hill (all my photos last year were taken on my allotment seeing as you get a really clear view from there), but I think that display is more a community thing than a charity one, so I can imagine they aren't quite so fussed :P

Yeah, hopefully that means I wont have lost too much money, as the bus ticket was cheap. Not sure how large the refund is yet. :)
Doc appointment and errand today. :zonked Lene: Hope you are having a good day. :)
They emailed me and let me know that a refund will be coming during the next few days, not sure how much it will be yet, but should cover some of the bus ticket I had to buy at least. :)
I almost wouldnt trust buying from someone that doesnt know to twist the yarn when knitting with more than one colour, for mittens and sweaters at least. :P Not good craftmansship to me. Maybe I am weird tho. :P
Probably wise to just tacking it with a few handstitches, yes, before you know its comfortable. :) Fingers, toes and talons crossed that it wont be too much hassle. :)

awesome! :D Hopefully it'll be a decent amount to cover some of the extra costs :) squishes
hehe I wouldn't mind if the mittens were cheap, but yeah I wouldn't want to buy a sweater than had that much in the way of dangly loops inside!
nods it would make it a lot easier to redo if I need to!
Seeing as I shelved my other coat project for an whole year before coming back to it and getting it finished, I didn't want to make this new project last quite so long.... so I finished the sewing then was brave and tackled my first metal poppers as well :d I added some plush fabric to the pocket so it's much more cosy (and should keep my hands a lot warmer!) than my bought coats ;)

....and I also finally got a photo of the polar bear I made last month:
I was basing the paws on a mass produced bear (link) so although he doesn't look 100% the same as I used a different style pattern, I think it's a pretty good match :D

LOL who knows but I can totally see why the charity would be ticked. And if the club isn’t charging they probably wouldn’t care as much.
-crosses fingers for you- Hope you won't lose much. Much better than yesterday. I went to the scrapbooking store and bought a stampset and spent the rest of the day making Christmas cards for people ;) I'm sure you'll see one.
the football club sell tickets, but they're a lot cheaper than the main display's ones, so they don't seem too fussed ;) And they've announced the new date for the main fireworks - that's going to be a Sunday evening (normally it's on a Saturday, but they can't have the fireworks on the same day as the rugby team are playing :P) in a couple of weeks' time :D That's a nifty circus look you've got today - remind me which character that is 😊

Looking forward to getting it. :squishes: Sounds like a nice day. :) I had lunch with my dad today and heading out for a walk later. Hope my ankles will co-operate. :P
Thanks, me too! :) :fingers crossed:
Its easy to ruin a garment too with those kinda loops at the least its annoying. lol
Aww, the polar bear is adorable! I think you did a great job with his paws. <3 Looks really soft and snuggly too. :)

nods it's bad enough on shop-bought socks when they have loops where they changed colours, but on something hand knitted or crocheted, it'd be a nightmare!
Thanks :d I couldn't resist that fake fur - it's a lot softer and snugglier than the fake fur I've bought before, so it definitely is a good one to pick :d Some of the others I used before have ended up matted and felt a bit rougher, so they aren't as good for bears ;)

Sorry I am so slow!! LOL :D Also your HA is so cute! :D I am almost done with embroidering my pants so if I get a pic I'll show you. It's not perfect but it's good for me. How are the sewing projects?

I really really extremely want:oh maybe they dont know. Lol. oh awesome. Hoping to get some pics? Thanks. This is Sergei the dancer who just married xd Ooh love todays ha. Whats the shirt?
it was. Sounds like a nice day for you too. Ankle hurting huh? :/
😮 that's awesome colour matching today! Thanks :D :D Perfection is overrated - or at least that's what I'm trying to tell myself :P I'd love to see a pic of your embroidery when it's finished :D
Sewing's going well :d I finally got my jeans pattern adjusted to suit my height better (first time I'd adjusted the rise of any trousers) so I made a pair that will be on the fabric shop's blog some point in the new year :D I also decided it was time I got on with the coat I cut out last year (literally just over a year ago 😊) and shelved because the sleeves were too small.... I pinched the sleeve piece from a different jacket pattern and that actually worked much better laughs I added in some decorative machine stitches just to draw the eye away from the wonky top stitching :P

Last week I cut out another new coat (the same pattern as the lightweight pale blue one I made in the summer) from fake wool and got that finished yesterday :d I tested it out on my walk today - it's lovely and warm :D I added in some minky fabric for the pockets, just to help keep my hands warm ;)

I've also made a couple of plush bears seeing as I like to cuddle a bear while I'm watching tv of an evening :D

well the football club shared the photos I took from the allotment site last year, so they must know I didn't take them from their event as it'd be impossible to get that angle from the event itself :P nods assuming we can rework tea around the time of the fireworks (it's 7pm I think, which is earlier than they'd normally do), then I'm hoping to get along to the main road where you can see the fireworks across the city ;) I thought it was nods in what I'm hoping looks like a knowledgeable way 😇 Thanks :d Erm good question! goes to the wardrobe it's with and over the top ;)

Awwww look at our cute bears ! And your projects look so good, excellent sewing lines! I love the addition of pockets! Also those decorative stitching stars (?) are perfect, I love them! Your machine is brilliant!
I will have to get some pic for you. :D <3 Thanks also for the compliment! I love that berry plum color.
