Thats true, and I wouldnt have to work with thin yarn if I dont want to. :) I have seen some amazing patterns for crochet!

I totally get that, you feel more free to practice and less pressure if you know you didnt spend a ton of money. :) I tned to not buy expensive yarn either (the yarn for this sweater I am making is expensive, but that was a christmas gift, ;)

Hehe, I never thought to weigh my glasses! Then again, I have worn glasses all day for so many years now that I am pretty used to them at this point. xD

I would, as Persona 5 is amazing, but havent had the energy. Some housechores to stay awake and some knitting and telly instead. :)

right? you'd not really think about it but it can make them heavier. I thought my older plastic pair was heavy but now I'm suspecting it was the lenses.

hehe yeah I remember making those. LOL I hated making the pleats.

hopefully the mask won't be too bad for her. oh wow already? that's great going on getting unpacked so quickly. HAHA that's an added bonus. it's a gorgous bg :D

yeah lol that does help. I'm so new to them that the weight really does bother me over time. I just didn't want to have the same problem I did with my older pair for the last year and be miserable. it was like taking a book off my face by the end of the day.

well that sound good too :)

yeah, I've never used anything thinner than DK yarn, and I can honestly say I prefer the thicker yarn to knit with!! ;) Exactly! It sounds crazy when you say it to someone who doesn't do any crafting, but there's an immense pressure to make it "perfect" when you're using really pricey materials!

I tried picking up Mum's glasses the other day and they're ridiculously lightweight - I figured I prefer to know I'm wearing them (I didn't like the idea of them being so light that you don't feel they're on your face!). But then I've worn them for about 34 years, so I guess I've got used to them! It doesn't feel right when I don't have them on (even when I tried contact lenses) ;)

I got two masks finished before the splits on my hands made it impossible to do any more sewing - hopefully Mum's taken one with her to get Grandad to try out (I did normal ear loop elastic on that one, so he can try it and see if it works over his ear). I think for Gran I might see if I can make her a triangle scarf kind of thing, so she doesn't feel it's quite as restrictive as wearing a mask, but can still have her face covered if necessary.... I just need to find a pattern so I don't have to make up the measurements as I go! :P

Mum was saying how long it was taking to get everything unboxed, but I thought they'd got it all sorted pretty quickly! ;) I'm hoping that now the boxes have gone, Gran might be more inclined to move about in the flat as she's moving round a lot less than she was in their old place.

I am not too familiar with the english terms like DK and fingering for yarn. I heard them, but are not sure how thick the different types are. :P I like to at least not work with anything less then 3.5mm. needles. :)

Not too mention if you make something for someone else. That is even more pressure!

I can see how that would become unconfortable. Mine arent that heavy thankfully. :)

:nods: Some housechores today as well.. and probably more knitting. xD

DK would be usually on 3.5mm needles (or 3mm if you're making toys), Aran is 5mm needles (I think?), and then you'd have Chunky and Super Bulky (what I bought for Mum's jacket uses 10mm and 8mm needles) ;) Actually, I found this guide (link) which has most types of yarn listed with the recommended needle size ;)

Yeah, that's one reason though why I like making things for K - as long as the seams are sturdy, I know he won't be looking at it and inspecting how "well" it was made laughs so I can get away with mistakes :P

Thankies! :D I bookmarked for when I use english patterns. :D

I found that the sweater I am working on now is working up super quickly. :D You can make one, at leat in smaller sizes, in a week or so I have seen on fb, depending on how much time you have each day and speed. :D

Kids are great like that. :D

I don't have the patience to even knit a kid's sized anything! My limit was the 3-6 month jacket I knitted K when he was born laughs I'm quite a slow knitter, so my progress tends to be pretty sluggish ;)

nods definitely! I'd made a bear and stitched the legs on wrong so the bear looked like he was walking.... K absolutely love it! I sent that as a "new school" gift and made a top & shorts for the bear in K's school uniform colours ;)

lol Yeah I think you'd not like my lighter weight ones either. I haven't had 'em that long but I definitely prefer to not feel them much if at all lol.

I'm glad you got two done :) Good luck on Gran's :D lol she's wrong I'm totally with you that was super quick! I hope she does feel more like going around the new flat :)

yeah :/ Good :D sounds nice :D I need my new glasses before I can knit again. My old pair is hurting too much. I picked up the Super MArio today. Lemme say, run, don't walk to the store and buy it!! Hands down the best mario game EVER. It's right up there and surpases Super Mario 3!

I think the sensation of the weight on those nose pads does take some getting used to ;) I know when I've changed frames before, sometimes I end up having to get the nose pads replaced for ones that spread the weight better as it just felt like too much pressure on that part of my nose ;)

Mum got Gran to use her stick to go for an explore around the flat (Gran hadn't even looked in the utility cupboard) - apparently with the stick, Gran was moving around a lot quicker and was also walking more upright. So Mum's going to get her to do that each time she's there so she hopefully will gain confidence ;)

pats Hope you get to pick up your new pair soon!

I am glad! :D For me its super mario world for the snes. Such fond memories playing that game over and over. I only had that game and mario paint. LOL Weirdly enough it never even asked for more games for christmas or anything. o_O Also mario galaxy and odessey I love!

I can relate, I am a slow knitter as well. Doesnt help that I am very critical of my own work as well and then to start over a lot. blush

That is absolutely adorable that the bear has a matching outfit. Love it. :D

I've never frogged a project and restarted it, unless it went wrong on the first two rows! Although I will admit I have abandoned a couple where I know I'd made a rookie error in the stocking stitch and had ridges where it should've been flat 😊

^ that's the bear (you can tell he was definitely wanting to walk off on an adventure!) - it was my first attempt at making a "giggler" bear (one with an open mouth) too :D ....hopefully I've got a pic of the bear in his school uniform rummages on my computer

^^ there's the bear in his uniform (grey trousers and a red sweatshirt)

Mistakes more often than not bothers me too much to leave them. blushes Unless I notice something after I am nearly done, and the mistake is early on. :P

Meet my new baby So...I sorta adopted a new cat today. I've decided on Carmen for her name. I'm hoping that Maya and Carmen will balance each other. For now they'll take turns in my room. Carmen will go to Dad's office at night though since I have Maya and Amelia in my room right now and I want them to be more friendly with each other before the overnight visits. Maya's not exactly happy lol. but that does take a little time. I'm still a little anxious and feeling like I did something bad which is somewhat common for me honestly and it was mum who said I should go get another cat. Hopefully all will be well and we'll make it all work.

Paddy I suppose, though even mum's noticed her glasses are really weighty so maybe there's a fine line where its too heavy all? oh I'm glad she got some exploring in :D

Pinkpanther I hope so too.
that was a great one too :D lol well if you liked it I guess maybe the thought never occurred to you there would be more games. Odyssey is pretty cool but lol I gotta get out of this ice level o.0

I realised a while ago that if I was that picky with any mistakes, I'd never make anything laughs I know with some of my sewing projects that I keep noticing where things aren't quite as they should be, but certainly when I started sewing trousers and jeans, I had to just make do with "good enough" (or at least "a better fit than ready to wear from a clothing store") 😇

I need to figure out what I'm going to make for K's birthday (about a month to go) - I haven't a clue what to make, as he hadn't got much wear from the last hoodie I made, as he was wearing school uniform most days. What would you make for a 6 year old boy?

awwww Carmen looks really cute! :D Hopefully she'll settle in well, and that's a great idea to have her in your Dad's office overnight to start with, so you can supervise when she's with the others during daylight hours ;) I think a lot of it is down to personal preference, and what you've got used to as well - certainly when my Mum picked up my glasses she said they were really heavy (as she'd had titanium ones for years now), whereas I don't think mine are heavy at all ;)

It's just a case of making sure Gran actually uses the stick and doesn't either forget that's what she's meant to be doing, or just rely on Grandad helping her all the time (which isn't ideal as he only has sight in one eye, and isn't overly stable himself , so he's not the best person to try leaning on for support if you feel unsteady!)

I'm stuck for ideas for K's birthday - if you needed to sew something for a 6 year old boy, what would you make? (I made him a hoodie for Christmas a couple of years ago, but I don't think it got much wear as he doesn't change out of his school uniform after school each day)

That is true. Starting out, I had to learn that good enough would be good enough. Even know I am not able to normally achieve perfection. :P

That is a tricky one. o-o What are his interest? Like if he likes star wars maybe a baby yoda? Something pokemon if he is into that etc. :)

Aww, lil Carmen is adorable! Congrats. :D I hope she will get along well with the rest of your pets with some time. :) Its tempting for me to get another one too, but I live in a small flat so I am not sure it would be a great idea. xD

I guess. It occured to me a couple of years ago, why didnt I ask for more games? And I had a laugh to myself. lol I did buy some games for my game gear tho. :)

hehe I think a lot of it is how much will any mistakes annoy you - if it looks good and I can't see any mistakes when I'm a metre away (with my glasses on), then that's good enough as nobody else will be close enough to notice mistakes either! ;)

Dragons and dinosaurs laughs ....and lego :P I did have an idea that I might make a large Stingray for him, and see if I can pass it off as a Pterodactyl (although the head will obviously look totally different) 😇

Other people wont inspect clothes etc as closely as we do ourselves.. that would be kinda weird if they did. lol

Hmm.. maybe a lego blanket bag (like a drawstring one)? If that is something you could sow? Something dinasaur would be fun too then. :D

that's very true ;) I think we're hardwired to notice the flaws in anything we make, when other people just look at it and say "whoa, you made that yourself?"

That's an idea notes that down :D thanks :D And yeah, I'd love to make some more dinosaury things, but it seems ridiculously challenging to find a pattern for that!

Yup. ;) Plus, with some much time and effort spent on projects (money even), you want to be happy with the outcome. :)

I seen some cute lego blankets online. Makes it easy to put the lego away after playing and keep things tidy. :)

Its a shame there arent more dinasaur patterns out there then. :)

she really is very sweet. She's a little over demanding attention but I think some of that will ease as she feels more confident and accepted by all. Dad put her in my room this morning and couldn't get back to sleep because she wanted attention lol. So tomorrow I think she'll come in my room once I'm awake :P. But I've discovered if I had my hands she does give up :P She slept some this afternoon with me. I've not been feeling great today.

Yeah you're probably right :)

haha well yeah it doesn't help if you don't use it. hopefully she's remember it too

How about a stuffed tiger and a tiger zipper pouch to go with it? here's the tiger/kitty softie and here's the the zipper pouch

She's really sweet and affectionate. I think she's a Pusur lol. I hope so too. Maya was in my room with her for a bit and she just sat and hissed or growled but that's common in the beginning. Yeah I get that. You don't want it to feel even more crowded.

-giggles- Oh well :P. Glad you got the game gear games at least -snickers-
