The gal in the yarn store recommend alpaca and merino wool, so that is what I went with. :)

thanks. I didn't really know what to do to finish it lol
that looks amazing. XD theme: favourite cartoon character
hopefully he'll like it.
ooh nice :D thats super sweet.
you pinged me instead of Paddy
Ooops, thanks! I fixed that now. lol
Gotta help where I can. :) Gonna try to get them done sooner, rather then later. :)

Thanks. :) I am sure she would do the same, if she was a knitter and needed hats. :)

-nods- it's nice when you know you have people who would do the same :D what colours did you get?
One of the hats is gonna be petrol. :) The other will be two shades of grey, blue, green and white. :)

Its a really cute pattern, I will show you guys once its done. :)

Will hopefully get started today. What are your plans? :)

it looked great, although I will say today's one looks even better - I love the layering :D
Niamh wants to know what today's theme is ;)
ooo that definitely sounds amazingly soft! I had a merino wool sweater when I was in work (I had a 40% staff discount laughs) and that was really soft :D I've never seen alpaca wool in the shops, but I've heard that's meant to be really soft & cosy :D

It really is! :D I can recommend alapaca for sure if you want it to be extra soft. :) That is surpring, seeing that alpaca is easy to find here!

Admittedly I haven't been into any of the yarn shops for a few years now laughs so it could be that they have lots and I've just not noticed ;)

Not the kinda thing you notice unless you are looking for it either I guess. ;)

nods the last time I was looking to buy lots of wool, I was wanting something with acrylic in it (I think it was a wool / acrylic mix) so I wasn't really paying attention to the 'fancy' yarns laughs

I love real wool for clothes, but acrylic is really great for stuffed toys and other things. :)

Both me and Mum get a skin irritation by wearing anything made from sheep's wool .... which is somewhat annoying! But I do wonder if something like alpaca would be suitable to use, as I'm sure I read somewhere that has no lanolin, which seems to be our main irritant for sheep's wool.

I found this doing a quick goodle search: Alpaca wool does not contain lanolin, which means that it is hypoallergenic. People with wool allergy get an allergic reaction when they touch wool that contains lanolin. Since alpaca wool does not contain lanolin, people with wool allergy can wear alpaca wool, without suffering an allergic reaction.
Also:
Alpaca wool is lighter, stronger and five times warmer that sheep's wool. Alpaca fibres contains no lanolin, which makes it hypoallergenic.
Sounds like it would be worth a try! :D
