it does make it a hard choice when there's a lot in one aviary though! With Sparky, the breeder had separated him and one other that he thought would make good pets (I guess neither were the right 'standard' for shows, seeing as I know the breeder does well in showing his own budgies!) so it wasn't a particularly hard choice ;)

😮 whoa, that's an amazingly creepy rifty look you've got today!

I sorted through my bag of UFOs (well, one of the bags :P) today and actually wrote down what I've started, and what still needs doing to complete it.... I figured if I just stick a pin in the list, then I can work on whichever project the pin lands on :P Of course as soon as I did that, Mum requested a shopping bag style bag for her friend (really Mum wants to use it to hold her friend's birthday present) which needs making this week facepalm I guess at least it's an easy project to make (assuming I can find the fabric!) ;)

:nods: Not to mention, except different colours its hard to tell them apart and get a feel of what their personality is like. :) Not sure if our family friend evern showed their budgies or if any of the ones we had would meet the standards. :) Sounds like you got a good one so it worked out for you guys. :D

yeah, even though the breeder had rings on all his budgies so he could identify them, I get the idea that he probably didn't know at first glance which one was which! He prefers the green coloured budgies, so there wasn't that much obvious variation in colours (at least not from a distance) ;)

The ones that tend to be show budgies are considerably larger than the 'pet' ones (Sparky is huge compared to Sid), but Sparky would never have been able to be shown as he has a feather problem. So for him, I think he has a much better life here than he would've had with the breeder! ;)

Yeah, I def. think I would have needed something like that to know who was who. ;) We had a couple of blue budgies and a green one. :) I think they look adorable in all colours really.

The ones we had werent really that big, so I suppose def. not show worthy then. Not that I think it really matters for a family pet. :) You are probably right as he would get all the attention at your home. ;)

nods I love the look of the 'random' coloured ones (I think they're known as Pied) but I've never een one like that other than in photos ;)

From what I read when we got Sparky, the larger English (show) budgie tends to be a lot more laid back which makes it ideal as a pet. But generally most places that sell pet budgies over here have the smaller ones ;)

hehe well only slightly organised - I treated myself to an online sewing workshop (one of those where you get 'lifetime' access to the whole thing, so you can keep coming back whenever you want) on how to sew jeans, in the hope I can get the ones I'm making to fit a little better ;) I've decided that's going to be my project over the winter, to use the denim I bought in the sale last year(!) and make another pair of jeans (or three laughs) ;)

I would guess the larger show budgies cost more too? :) Laid back sounds ideal for sure. My budgies I would not have described as laid back at all. I remember even a couple of them trying to stand on their heads.. which was really funny to watch. xD

I would've thought so, but Sparky was cheaper than the 'regular' budgies at the garden centre pet department where we got Sid. I guess it's down to the individual breeder on pricing (maybe the ones that are 'show quality' would be more pricey) ;) ROFL now that sounds really cute! :D

so I was on the go from almost my first yawn. Been placing orders/finding items to prepare for Christmas. Finally down now, though I need to pick up one thing in the next hour I think. Otherwise all else ships here. Also ordered mum and dad's gift to my second nephew for his birthday. He's getting a hippo plushie and safari book. I think he's 14? I'm still working on his bday gift so it'll be shipped separately.
