I think it's 100 square metres, but it's an odd shape (the top is a lot wider than the base) and on a slope so we've been a little creative with where some things are being grown! There was rhubarb and raspberries already growing when I took the allotment plot on, so I've never had to buy any of those plants :D I've got a herb patch next to the compost bin in the theory that if you brush against the fennel and mint plants before taking the lid off the compost bin, it smells a lot better! :P And there's a flower patch as well, just to attract some more bees to the plot ;) We get deer as well which is great for trying to spot them, but not so great when they want to eat everything! I've got to keep the strawberries netted (the deer pull the plants up as they try eating the leaves), and we also have to put a net around the runner beans otherwise the deer eat the new growth and stop the plants from growing properly! ^^ an old photo, but the best I've been able to get from the allotment site!

hehe we usually complain in the spring because it's too wet, not wet enough, or still too cold 😇 but then it wouldn't be right if we had perfect weather :P laughs

My mum used to make this really yummy rhubarb soup. They tend to be quite sour, so you def. need to add a bit of sugar for it to be nice to eat.

Aww., that is a really cute picture of the deer. I love seeing them around. :D I never gotten close enough to get a good picture tho. The last place I lived, we would sometimes see them in the garden or the area around us. It always made my day. Once during my walks one speed right past us.. so close we could touch it. We almost jumped out of our skin, since we didnt see it coming. lol It ran so fast! I can see how its annoying when they eat your flowers and crops tho. :P

Always gives us something to talk about with neighbours and other people you really dont know too well I suppose. lol

I think it's half the original size of an allotment plot - the council had decided years ago that they should make the plots smaller as a half sized one is easier to maintain, and also means they can fit more into the site! ;) I've never tried that! Mum always has rhubarb crumble, but she doesn't like too much sugar added to it :P

Whoa, that must have been an awesome walk! I like watching the badgers as well, although Mum isn't too happy when they dig up the garden :P

It sure gave us a litlte heartattack at the time.. but was kinda awesome to see how fast it was. :) A blink and it was gone almost. :) I havent seen any badgers tho when I have been out and about. :)

I can imagine after it'd gone out of sight, you were wondering if you really did see it at all, or if you imagined it? Mum had a similar encounter with a badger - it ran out from a garden and sprinted across the path into another garden just in front of where she was walking ;) Mum doesn't tend to go for walks in the dark normally though - she doesn't like it when the bats are flying around :P

badgers have a really strong bite (although I don't think they're the kind of animal to attack people!) as one had completely crushed the metal peanut feeder we had in the garden several years ago o.O hehe I like watching the bats from indoors, but as long as they stay well away from my head (I don't like anything flying around my head, not even flies and moths 😊) I'm ok being outside with them flying around laughs

There's a safari park we used to go to, which had a 'bat room' (basically an underground room you could walk through to watch them all flying around).... we always used to skip that part (and the spiders - I really can't do spiders either :P ) though laughs ;)

cleaning the bathroom is never a fun task, but at least you can play some games afterwards ;) If they're really tiny spiders (and not directly over my head if they're on the ceiling) then I can handle them, but I can't stay in the same room as any of those larger 'House Spiders' 😊 I found one of those large spiders underneath my pillow before - Mum said with the speed I went out of the room, she wondered what the disaster was! 😊
