~ I was a little nervous to dive into spellmaking but my wife has begun to encourage me to do it (she's more an active witch than I) but I recently had a dream about candle magic and I think it might be a nudge from..somewhere.

So I'm going up to this fantastic shop on a road trip and I'll be picking up supplies to begin some Candle Magic. I am planning on trying a manifestation spell.

I'm mostly following the path of omnism (the belief that truth can be found in ALL religions), and tend to stick to a pagan style of worship. I'm also a geomantic empath, and a bit of a weather/water witch.

It was so hot here yesterday that it hardly felt like fall at all! It was over 20 degrees above average! Today is a lot cooler though. I'm hoping it sticks and the leaves start changing soon

miss very much when pagan alliance of subeta was active i just need a place in subeta to talk about witchcraft because i do a lot of cybermagic in this website, is what i mainly do here actualy...

going to introduce me again to new faces....im in witchcraft path since i was kid, i dont follow any doctrine either, but im aware of the spiritual linages that im more conected with, i have a deep conection with christianism and judaism tradition, that can sound very strange for a witch, but if you are a latino-american person a place full o sincretism is not that strange... for me was very natural and nothing I have learned through these tradition was contracdictory from what i learned from witchcraft, but of course cant go to a church and say the things i belive without being in phisical danger hahaha. I also have a deep conection with umbanda, that is an afro-brazilian spiritism religion that can agragate mostly iorubá and cristianism, but they also work with the native-southamerican gypsy spiritaul lignages. I have a strong conection with the gypsy lignage and thats the main reason i have a conection with umbanda wich is the only doctrine where gypsy entities are invited... i also love hermetic texts, i love studying alchemy, and im not exactly a chaos magick girl, but they are kind of my favorite witches to talk with about witchcraft.

right now my HA is an umbanda entity called Maria Padilha...

I'm on Subeta pretty often (especially around this time of year) I'd keep active except there usually aren't that many posts to respond to haha.

Very interesting to meet a church-going witch.. I don't think the two ideologies are impossible to exist together. But with one side of my family being Roman Catholic, I can see where the struggle would be. I haven't set foot in a church for a spiritual purpose in a while. As a gay witch, it feels pretty unfriendly. Though I would imagine there are some friendly churches out there. One of my nearby Unitarian Churches holds a monthly moon ceremony for local pagans.

I haven't worked the courage up yet to go though. Plus, I usually have work :/

What is it about the mingling of the ideologies you mentioned that speaks to you the most? Just out of curiosity.

I was raised Roman Catholic but havent actively practiced in years. My spirituality lies outside of that doctrine and has since my teen years. I attended with family for the longest time but it was mostly for them, not because I wanted to be there. I def can see how the two co-exist, though.

Unitarian church? thats so nice never saw one... i have a strong conection with christianism but is just me and christ, mary, the saints... me and the bible, but feel very unconfortable being in a phisical church (for me the real church is where any kind of people are together under the name of truth and love, is not a phisical place or institution). I hate how they see woman, im also bi and all my friend are lgbtq+ , plus most of them demonize afroreligions and leftwinged political people, and im an anarchist so thats a big combo for me. But here in Brasil there is a long history of sincretism, for exemple witches called benzendeiras, that heal the others with plants while singing benzedeiras songs that are totaly christian themed. and afroreligions that sincritize their pantheon with the christian saints pantheon. Im also a feminist so it was a long path so i could be in peace with these patriarcal religions . it was alchemy and understanding the reading of hermetic texts that i could finaly understand the equality of forces of feminine and masculine under these traditions, even though the civilization have ruined our conception of the feminine force.

a nice information is the the early christianis was very pagans, and their adoration of mary had a lot of similaritis with the adoration of the Godess and her child.

answering the question, what atract me in doctrines are not exacly the ideology, is just a call you know. Im very medium since kid, it was when i stoped going to church because i saw they couldnt help me there with the things I was dealing with, my dreams, my visions and my witchcraft that i already pacticed... For me every religion is this intention of humans trying to reconect, all of them have deep truths that can help us, all of them were create under the force of the human faith. if i were in a muslim country, in a budhist county, maybe i would have conection with those doctrines, is more like an ancestral metter, my mother prayed to mary when she was pragnant of me, my grandmother prayed to mary when she was pragnant of my mother and so i goes.. so i try to find whats truth to me under this faith that fed my ancestors and not let the name of christ be only on the mouth of this awefull fandom he has. I related to umbanda because for me is the most christian place i have ever seen, if you consider christ as love and truth and not as a tradition only. There have their orixa pantheon, where the orixa father of them all (oxalá) is sincretized with christ, is a place where everybody is welcomed, its not uncomun for exaplme that the "priest" is an homosexual, no one is judged there, and is full of drum music, food, dance, deep conection with the nature, work a lot with plants misteries... wich is very important for me in a spiritual place because one of my mainly work are with plants. But most important of all what conect me with the umbanda is the possibility to have guidance with gypsy entities. in umbanda we work with incorporation, so mediuns incorpore some spiritual entities that atend to umbanda to help others, there are other doctrines that work with incorporation here in brasil but they are kind of weird colonizer-european vibe, so they never incorporate native-people, gypsy people, pomba-gira, eshu, navy's, nop, they only incorporate like european doctors hahaha. And i have this spirtual conection with gypsys, have a lot of past lifes i was gypsy, and in this life i have big protection and mission from this lignage... but the only spiritual place they are invited here in Brasil is umbanda, so i go there... i could have conection with any doctrine, is more like finding places you feel home.
