My husband wished me a Happy Mother's Day even though our only children are four birds. Two cockatiels (Jorah and Navi) and two parakeets (Peep and Ghost).
Hiya KSrs
Checking in with y'all. Hoping everyone is doing well. Same old same old here. While our state (Ohio) is opening up retail and service businesses we are still not going out and will continue to shelter at home other than groceries, pharmacy, post office and bank for the forseeable future. I will be forced into going to the motor vehicles when they reopen (no date yet) to renew my driver's license and not thrilled about that but I will have no choice.
Was going to get take out for mom for mother's day but ended cooking (pasta), Good thing too because so many people didn't get their take out on mother's day because so many people tried to get take out. Were several altercations, apparently, that required police to be called. Also I bought cheesecake for dessert already. Yum.
“Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.” - Benjamin Franklin
"Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees, to deprive the poor of their rights and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people, making widows their prey and robbing the orphan." - Isaiah 10:1-2
Due to Covid seniors in my area have lost our home health aides and I will miss mine dearly took months and a few failures with other aides but she was wonderful. Since the fee to the agency for her help was higher than other services I still have my meals on wheels but now two meals a day and I gave up the week end frozen meals - gladly. And I now have a free 20 pound laundry service every other week. Still sheltering in place as MA is still a hot spot and my city is up there as being one of the worst.
Dude, I saw an article about someone taking weapons into Subway to protest the lockdown. It's nuts....
At least we've got Vesnali now, eh? Hope things get better in your city too.

Yes, Vesnali is a favorite. Just worried the country might open up too soon somewhere and help hurt us more. Are you still looking for a Gender Berry?
Yeah. I need one for a male pet that a friend is holding for me. :)

Do have one to part with, do you want to do a trade?
Yes, I commented you!

Glad to hear the weather isn't worse for you. From my stimulus check I decided to get a recliner with heat and massage to be of more help to these old bones and I was lucky enough to find a smaller model with what I wanted and also lift which I will probably need down the road all for under $375. Got rid of the horrid beast calling itself a couch/sleeper which you could not sit or lie on. You all know the saying and it is true - moved in with him, should have moved out with him. This had only been a favorite fantasy mainly because I have not had a comfortable chair for reading /lounging/ or watching TV since 1988 when I had to put the chair I loved on the street on moving here!
Happy Anniversary! Raining to beat the band here, but thankfully no hail.
Nothing like a great chair! Happy for you. I had a wonderful chair that was absolutely perfect for me to use at my desk. The height, support, comfort, cushion depth, material, castors, and it swiveled. I had it for so many years I don't remember where it came from. Anyway, several years ago it broke where the bottom half supports the top half, and that was it. I assumed it could not be fixed and mournfully put it on the curb with the trash. I have regretted that decision ever since! Surely I could have found someone to fix it somehow. That old adage 'they don't make 'em like they used to' is absolutely true. I have had a number of chairs since and not one really works for me. I had to use my check for other things, but I wish I could find another chair like that. I really need to haunt thrift stores and maybe goodwill or something, except right now can't go anywhere. Sigh
The only problem which will be fixed soon I hope is that the chair doesn't yet recline due to a belt underneath that needs to be tightened so that the power button will allow it to recline / lift. My neighbor of many years could not see what the instructions were talking about and neither could I. First you have to release a hand thingy can't find that either.
Got it thru Amazon and have left a note for the seller - is new chair just can't locate the hand thing to pull out, will be fixed just need to be patient and I'm getting better at it, LOL.
Dad has been in the hospital since last Sunday. He had severely high calcium from a growth in his liver. Cancer is back. His mind is jumbled right now and he wants to come home, but we wouldn't be able to take care of him. It just sucks. We can't visit, but do FaceTime and talk on the phone.
we are redoing the whole "application" thing in the first post but please fill it out as a getting to know you and please check out the group forum.
That is the worst, so sorry for your father and your family. Will keep you all in my prayers.
