I'm so sorry to hear that happened so close to where you live. I imagine it must be very scary to witness. Years ago I lived in an apt. building that was gutted by fire. I was at work when it happened, so my experience was not WITH the fire itself, but the aftermath. My husband and I lost almost everything we owned, so that was the trauma. Fortunately no one was hurt, but many people lost everything. I was in February too, the 8th, in fact. I'll probably never forget, though it was over 30 yrs ago. I hope you can find out how it happened and feel safer. It doesn't take much, and often there's negligence. The management where I lived had not maintained the fire extinguishers, and the attic of the building had improper construction (no fire walls) so a small apt fire turned into one that destroyed an entire 3 story building because of 2 code violations. Looking back I realize that most people who rent take it for granted that cutting corners in that way doesn't happen. But in reality, it does. I guess one way to keep safe is to make sure the place you live is up to code. I hope that helps.

I've never been here for Survival before so I'm really excited. Morostide is also a lot of fun and there's no need to be here every single day like Lumi!

I think a lot of people gave up when they saw the scores. If the scores had been anywhere close when they were posted it might have inspired people to donate more, but it's hard to be motivated to spend millions when it's pretty obvious you have no hope of catching up. I have tens of thousands of wiz tokens, so I mostly vended my max (500) every day to donate. As soon as I saw the scores I pretty much stopped fighting to restock at the main shops. I doubt I spent more than one or two million total (Didn't really keep track), mostly at the mystery box on the first day.

The nice thing is, the Aqua potion is already selling for under 10 million. I grabbed one for Lorenna's TC, she likes potions. I personally could care less about trophies..., I just had fun participating and am more than thrilled with our prizes!

Yes, Survival! I'm not big on zombies, but I do love the atmosphere of the event. There's so much to do. I can't wait to see the new zombie skins this year, and I hope there's more alchemy this time.

I'm mostly just waiting for them to announce the cause. That, and my car got broken into two months ago, so it's been a stressful winter. Bleh. Hopefully the rest of this year gets better.

I hope the news vultures are gone when I get home though. It was an obstacle course to get out of our complex. :(

Since some people are asking, I've compiled The Super-Duper List of Things that Happen During Survival

(predicted 2016 event to start on the evening of the 15th, but don't hold me to that)

A good place to start is the Subetapedia article, which will give you a bit of background on how it started and some customs, but it's not exhaitive.

One of the main features of Survival is zombie skins. In the past you could choose to cure or keep your zombie skin; once it was cured it was gone and you couldn't use it again, and if you kept it, you had it all the time, and had to go to some creative lengths to look human. Nowadays, things aren't so restrictive, and we can become or unbecome zombies as we please, as long as we have the skins unlocked. The method of infection had changed a few times in recent years (there were no infections at all in 2013, and the userbase turned itself inside out in rage, so they brought them back). Most recently, specific strains can be acquired by paying for the strain you want, and then finding already fully infected users to bite you. Once the infection has reached it's final form, the skin is unlocked, and you can take it off and try to get infected with a new strain. More details can be found in last year's news post.

A fairly recent feature is Lamour's Parlour, which sells pink, fluffy valentines type items, for a nice respite to all the zombie stuff. Items are bought with Candy Hearts, which can be acquired by kissing other users (it'll be very easy to find forum threads dedicated to kissing once the event starts).

Skitters is another mainstay of the festival, selling zombie-themed goods for sp. In the past, you could only buy items for the present year during survival (you were shut out afterwards if you weren't a zombie), or as far back as your zombie skin started, but they've opened it up a lot now, so you can freely buy items from any of the past years, whether you're a zombie or not.

Along side Skitters is the Zombie Underground, which is host to a range of shops and zombie activities. Previously open to zombies all year round and only limited to humans during the event, it is now accessible all year to everyone.

Alchemy is one of the more notable and event-specific aspects of the Underground. By combining items bought at thePhilsophers Store at the Alchove, you can create a range of books, wearables, plushies etc (full list of Alchemy items). Strangely, the Alchove remains one of the more restrictive zombie features, and it requires you to be a zombie when crafting items.

Flowers found floating around the site, or to be bought at Seedings are for laying at the Survivor Memorial to show respect for those lost in the original Pandemic. This serves little purpose these days, other than completing the achievement.

Survial means there is a good chance that new Zombie foods will be released at Half Baked and The Lost Skeleton, so keep and eye open (but it will be announced in the news).

This is a list of all the survival related achievements there are. Worth keeping an eye on.

I too am not big on zombies either, but I do think Survival is fun. It's neat seeing what kinds of infections the art staff comes up with and the Lamour Parlour satisfies my need for cute stuff. Not that some of the stuff in the Zombie Den isn't cute too.

I hope they add more alchemy stuff, even though I haven't made all the things I wanted. I think, and I'm not too sure because I don't see them a lot, that some of the items got an art update.
