"It's not fashion, it's balance." Rin cocked her head to the side. "Just because something looks similar enough doesn't mean it fits. And no, it's not. That plays music. I'm working on my portable DVD player. It lets you watch movies wherever you want. I refuse to believe there isn't a way to get it to work inside Hogwarts."

"The decorations," Rin deadpanned. "I want to see what they do for lighting. Will they go the traditional route with lanterns and fire or go more modern with actual lights and, if so, how would they get them to work in here?"

Veta took seat in the corner of the room, smiling in what she hoped was a friendly manner. She had been so busy with studies (and a bit of remedial spellwork), she hadn't had a chance to really meet any of her housemates yet.

"I just heard something about the ball, and I am hopeless with formal events. Normally I'd just duck out, but this one seems more important than usual. It actually has the potential to be fun."

"Actual lights... do you mean electrical lights?"

She'd seen them a few times before and found them absolutely fascinating. Just imagine how everyone would react to seeing them in Hogwarts itself! Okay, perhaps she was getting a bit too excited over something that simple. But still, it would be an interesting experiment, if nothing else!

"I'm sure the right spell could supply the power for the system, if we could get the... bulbs, I think they're called? And I don't think the castle enchantments would do anything to a bit of metal and glass."

"Yes, electrical lights," Rinoa confirmed. "But magic and electricity are entirely different power sources but there is a way to modify certain technological devices with the right components so they can function in the proximity of magic. However, since Hogwarts has a high concentration of magic, the usual methods do not work. Believe me, I've tried. But if the band brings tech then that means they must know a way to get it to work inside Hogwarts."

"So a lightning spell wouldn't work?" Veta asked. She'd put some thought into this sort of thing before, but her limited experience with Muggle technology meant she hadn't gotten beyond the wishful thinking stages.

Rin let out a startled 'eep'. "Oh no, no, no! You're likely to short the whole thing out if you just go beatin' it with that much raw electricity at much."

Veta giggled a bit at Rinoa's reaction. "It might be a good thing that I can't manage those kinds of spells then, or I might have tried it myself already. So it needs a weaker, more controlled electricity..."

"Well, yes. There is a specific amount of voltage needed to power these objects, but the amount changes from country to country. It's...complicated," she sighed.

"I have a lot more to learn then." Veta sighed. "Muggle things can be so complicated! But I suppose that's what makes them so rewarding to figure out."

When they were waking up Deme and Caleb grabbed their pillows and started a pillow fight with one another. Sadly sometimes hitting others by accident in the boys dorm and saying sorry after. Finally Caleb was about to hit Deme with his pillow on Deme's bed...when it finally hit him..the pose he was in on top of Deme. They both blushed for a 20 seconds and then Caleb said, "Yeah I got class in a few min," "and I have class too down in the.." Caleb got off Deme and went to his trunk and Deme to his both getting their things. They looked at each other still blushing and went, "Hmph!" and walked their separate ways.

This board feels so dead right now

Hannah was still awake. She couldn't sleep. She went down stairs to find Caleb still awake. "You couldn't sleep either?" she asked him. "Thought about the horses I have back home. I miss them." replied Caleb curling up in a blanket on a sofa. "Can I join you?" asked Hannah. "Sure!" said Caleb in a surprised whisper as not to walk the others. "What kind of stuff did you do with the horses?" she asked him. "Most times look after them and care for them. I rode them sometimes, but only when they nudged me wanted to go out. I miss Clever. He always knew that door to the food supply a little to well. He sometimes got into the carrots a little more then he should have." He told her smiling. "Hey, what kind of hobbies did you do growing up?" asked Caleb turning over to her as she went under the blanket. "I mostly talked with my wizarding friends and practice spells with them." she told him. "I kind of envy you being able to practice at home. I wasn't allowed to. My friends would ask me why I was not with them sometimes, but it was because it was just a shock to hear that such a place existed." he said. "Well I kind of wish I sometimes had your normal childhood. Some of my spells didn't go so well and it might have been better if I had learned them here then at home alone." "Your parents weren't there?!" he exclaimed. "They were, but I didn't tell them all the times I was practicing some. I was grounded for a whole year once to not practice magic, because I set fire by accident to one of my parents prized apple tree.' she told him. "Woah. I can't imagine how that must feel. Being in a wizarding town and not being able to do magic." said Caleb. "My friends teased me about it a little, but I got over it." Hannah replied. "Caleb,...umm..could you..mind..telling me what a horse looks like?" she asked him. "Hehehe a girl who doesn't know what a horse looks like! How did you manage that?" he asked her giggling at first. "I grew up in a wizarding community that didn't have horses." she replied. "Okay okay, hold on." He went into the boys dorm and out again with a calendar. "See these? These are horses. Beautiful aren't they!" he said admiring it. "Oh! look at that brown one!" she replied. "Yeah, I have one at home like this brown and white one." They heard a door open. "Who's there?" asked Hannah.

She couldn't believe the term was coming to an end. After what seemed like a century, she had finished her assignments and was ready for a much needed break.

Gaia came down the steps from her room balancing a tray of treats with her wand and carrying a bag with Pumpkin Juice and some Butterbeers. "WE WON THE HOUSE CUP!" Gaia places the tray and bag down while careful not to step on any pets. We should celebrate! We need our prefects ( ) "Beth! Amanda! We need to decorate the Common room! Can we? PLEEEEAAASEEEE" Too excited to wait Gaia turns to the music megaphone contraption thing and started the music. "It is time to celebrate before we go on our break and the next term begins!"

Gaia began hanging blue and bronze streamers around and smiling at her friends () "Fade! Wanna give me a hand?" Gaia grinned. "Congratulations on earning so many points! Well earned and well deserved!" Gaia picked a chocolate frog box and some pepper Imps and hands them to her friend.

While twirling and hanging decorations Gaia hummed to the tune nothing like a party before break.

Elune sat on the couch facing the hearth. It was one of those murky days, and she was glad exams were over because she'd been dying to read a new book--something that wasn't school-related.

She noticed enter and beamed her way. "Congratulations! We did a great job this term. I'm so proud to be in Ravenclaw." She blushed when Gaia offered her own acclaim, but she accepted it with pride. She popped a pepper Imp in her mouth then performed the Ravenclaw Battlecry. As she laughed, fire spewed from her mouth between breaths.

"I'd love to help decorate!" Elune exclaimed. She spelled an enlargement charm on a piece of parchment and began painting Ravenclaw Rocks in large Bronze letters. "Would anyone like to add anything to this banner?"

Gaia was twirling around the room when she heard the Ravenclaw battlecry and joined in with a fit of giggles "CAW CAW". Then turned once more to her friend, "YES! Let's add an eagle that does the battlecry! NOW THAT! Would be a great celebration banner!" Gaia laughed and twirled Elune.

"That's a great idea," Elune exclaimed. She watched Gaia spell the eagle onto the parchment. Then, she decided to add a little gold snitch. She pointed her wand toward it, making it zoom across the page.

She grabbed a butterbear off a workdesk and wondered if she should sneak down to the Kitchens and ask the elves if they could provide real food for their celebration. Maybe she could invite some of them up as well, although, she knew that may not hold over well.

Mae peered down the common room, "What is all this racket about?" she thought, then hide again when the girls looked up there.

Gaia starts laughing as the eagle takes flight from the banner and continues to soar through the air around the common room. "I guess I got overly excited!" Sneakily Gaia takes a pepper imp from Elune and giggles.

() Gaia heard a voice and looked up almost choking on her imp. "How's there!?!" cough cough and then laughter once more. "I think I need some juice!"

Mae didn't move and wondered if was drunk, what were the prefect doing? ( ) She hoped the common room will remain in one piece...

huh?

Why would I be drunk? O_o All I have had is juice. Butterbeer doesn't get you drunk unless drinking a lot of it.
