I love ontras but the old look was just kinda boring compared to other pets. This revamp is so lovely, it does look a bit kitten-like with the expression and the ears. I like it, and I love the extra freckles. I'll definitely get one if this revamp goes through c: The little ears are my favourite part.

Not a fan of the eyes, I prefer a happier Ontra. Laying down ears in animal is a sign of submission. This is the face of one of my dogs when they feel guilty about something. But I do like the changes in the main body.

Glad to see the ontra with visible ears. Looks more otter-sh than like a seal with legs now. Perhaps a slight indication of fur on the outside curve of the tail to balance all that chest fluff, might be my only suggestion..

I love the ears on the ontra! They're new and different but I personally think that's okay. I also don't think they should be up-- yes it would probably perk the ontra up a bit, but as said that doesn't make sense with how sea mammals work. And while this is fantasy and it can be foregone a bit, Subeta seems to be trying to build up lore on all their pets so I don't think it would add to that lore. Maybe play around with the rest of the face to make it look less sad/worn out? Or shrink the ears a bit-- I'm just a fan of the folded ears either way hah.

I really like this revamp. Then again, I've never had an ontra till just now because the head (and the fact it had no ears) always bothered me. So I'm maybe not the best person to give feedback on this.

I like the newer Ontra, but the expression looks a little like my cat when she knows she's in trouble. A little scared or sad looking. I wonder what it would look like with the ears up?

I love both of these equally. The revamped one wins out though because of those eyes. They are so cute and almost irresistible. Plus, the fin design is wicked cool. It adds some "originality" and a lot of personality. It just looks more friendly in the revamped version.

I like both though.

To sum up what others have said (not that I agree with all of it):

• Ears up or invisible, think like bird/reptile ears that are able to be closed like a blowhole (that's how I always picture their ears before) *Shading on tail tweaked a bit *Line of hair on head removed *Possible removal of second fins

for everyone complaining about the pinned-back ears.. i read them more as being scottish fold-style ears? e.g.

Super cute!! I love all of the newly added details! I especially love the ears and the new tail! The one thing I might change about the revamp is the head shape. I feel like it's too... small and triangular shaped? I would just make it a bit taller and move oval shaped like the original ontra head. That change would also make revamping all of the ontra-themed items a little less challenging, I think. c:

First thing's first: Absolutely BEAUTIFUL new artwork. It's so much softer looking than the old one. Bravo.

What I like: Again, the artwork is amazing. I'm also really digging the extra tail fins and freckle spots on the Ontra's pelt. The pose is pretty much an improved version of the old pose, the forepaws looks more anatomically correct and the farther hind leg looks better closer to the body.

What I don't like: The face. It's just the face, but it really is an important aspect. I feel the eyes are too big and the forehead isn't big enough. It was the most iconic thing about the old design to me. I also feel the ears were an unnecessary addition.

Sure it makes the Ontra look more like a real otter, but it's supposed to be a fantasy creature, not a real otter. As adorably drawn as the new Ontra is, I pick the old one over the new one. But I wouldn't lose any sleep if we stook with this redesign anyway.

honestly, the ontra doesnt need an update! :( i dont like the new ones face overall at all, esp the ears. The new ones cheeks are also a bit too wide and its forehead too small. The extra little fins on the new ones tail are also too much. In fact, i think the new ones entire head is too small...

Why is subeta updating pets that dont need to be updated? this means that all of the other Ontras colors are going to have to be update too, while there are still so many chibi pets needing revamps! :(

I feel like far away leg might be slightly smaller than it should be? Maybe it's just me. I love the face, it looks so much more lively than the old one. I also really love the whiskers and extra spots on the face. Honestly I don't mind the new fins and think they're a nice addition.

I'm very glad you made that observation about the ears reminding you of a cat who knows she's in trouble. You're totally right; it's the way cats look when they sense they're in danger and/or are getting ready to attack as a result of that. I don't think it's an attractive look on the ontra--the fur looks slicked down on top of the head as well, also seems to contribute to that mood.

I don't like this revamp at all, but I'm in a HUGE minority--when I voted just now it was 597 in favor and 36 not in favor. I can only say that I'm glad my ontra is glade. I have always loved the Ontra and I think the common one is adorable.

I realize the artwork is more detailed on the new one, I simply don't like what that artwork has done to it. The pet looks as if it's cowering in fear, is powerless. Also the eyes look dull, whereas before they had a glint in them that was sharp, intelligent looking.

None of this surprises me since I often am in a different place with opinions, and I think it's a generational thing. I was looking (once again) at the age poll and over 44,000 who answered are under 25 while I'm in the very tiny minority of folks who are over 51. I'd like to see subeta add "60 and over" to that poll since I'm about to turn 60 and I know at least 5 others here who are older than I. (and that IS the right way to say it, not "older than me" which is how most people say it. Just add the word "am" to the end of the sentence: older than I am vs older than me am. see?? ) ❤

That grammar is NOT directed at anyone on this site, it's just an observation I've made from watching movies and TV shows that were produced in the last 20 yrs. (and from listening to most people who are a lot younger than I speak.)

So, as far as the ontra, the new look appeals to a generation that I'm not a part of and the good news is that subeta knows what you guys like (I guess). Playing here is very educational. I've been learning what type of clothing is in style these days (some is very similar to when I was in MY 20's) and that's always fun. :)
