I actually don't think I've said it yet, but, yeah, I want to say thanks to staff as well, seriously. Thanks for doing this, and doing the research, and also thanks for the topic in Suggestions where I know you guys looked at the suggestions/opinions of users who posted.
Figured this would be a thread so coming here to just repost exactly what I said in the news comments, since it literally sums up everything I think on this.

(gif is still relevant so keeping it forever bye)
[edit] I would also like to add that I paid 30mil for the Sew Crafty Sticker, which was 40% discounted from the user shop prices. If you are all really bitching about the prices, you should give up on collections and just stick to things like the main shops. Or! OMG. Some of you should sell some of your CSC/CWs and get the sP for it. Is that too drastic??? Oh no. Welp, you're sol. Stop bitching.
EDIT#2
If you want to complete a collection on here, you're going to be spending billions, to be honest. You clearly don't know the real strain of a collection on your imaginary bank account. Do you even buy the monthly collections every month? Because if you're don't, that's another 50mil you'll be spending for each of those, because those inflate hella fast once they're out of the CS.
So the Oman Island event was the reason I started training my pet in the first place. It was one of my first events on the site, and I remember enjoying it immensly. I couldn't really spend a lot of time doing the activities, so my point count was sadly low. I remember all the amazing battle opponents, and remember losing to them many, many times. I tried, I really did.
What I also remember thinking, was that I would train my pet today so that I could be one of the cool users that got to beat the opponents later. And so I did. Of course, my pet is pitiful compared to many given my lack of attention span and general lack of motivation. But she's still sitting on a tier 7 and can battle most opponents in events.
Something I also remember from that event- how damn hard it was to get points. Like, holy crap.
I respect the people who were able to get points to buy the items back then, I really do. And I don't want to diminish their hard work.
However, the prices are a little crazy. A few pages back someone else commented that it was silly that the shop prices were determined by user shops- and I agree. (I mean, 26mil for one barrette?! Pshaw.) Not even going to comment on the idiocy that happened last page with "greedy" people pricing items... But the prices are over-inflated due to the items being out of circulation for so long.
The prices should be high, but maybe not that high.
I never wanted to pay 175mil for a full set of barrettes. While that's chump change to some, and while I know I could work up to it- I have no intentions to. (I have a life, as many others do, and I simply can't get that involved with these beautiful pixels.) Even 100mil for the set would be more reasonable. Most users never see an amount like that (to be honest, I haven't seen that amount in quite some time.)
It's a little late now, as people have already purchased. But maybe for the future consider that just because there's a large range of original prices, doesn't mean they need to all be transferred by the same point-to-sp ratio.
(Also it's late, and this is rambly. Sorry.)
and I did the calculations, and if you bought a full set of barrettes in 2009, you would have paid pretty much the equivalent of
160M
Yes, the actual sum you'd have paid would have been like 30M-35M in 2009. But with inflation, well, this happened.
Yeah, 175M looks like a scary number, but...it seriously isn't that much. It's the equivalent of like, 40M in 2009
I remember this plot... it was hard as hell to get anything because not only were you confined to one side or the other, but the points were just tough to get in general. I got just over 1300.
Yes, the prices in the shop suck, but for all of the work that went in on just getting any points at all, if the prices were lower, that would (imo) diminish the amount of work I did just to get the points I got.
I, too, would love to see this war replayed though. I did have a lot of fun even though I totally sucked at battling back then and relied primarily on restocking for my points.
And it's easy for me to remember that I couldn't get these other items at all just a few short days ago - now I can. It might take me a while, but I'll get there eventually and in the meantime I have other goals that I need to attend to anyway.
Also, just want to give a shoutout to staff for making it happen at all. The idea to bring back older items (even at a cost that made my vault have a seizure) is a brilliant one that I totally appreciate.

I was taken aback at the prices at first, but I wasn't here for that plot and therefore had no idea how difficult the items really were to get. After reading about how hard this plot was though, the prices definitely make more sense to me now.

Umm how is pricing an item for 50mil when there are no others available being unfair? If no one buys it then the item will sit there and rot but if I have the only one for sale I&;m going to price it high so I can get all the money possible.
That's called greed and makes people quite unpopular. But then again, it's your conscience. If you think it's okay to take as much as you possibly can from someone, then bully for you. I do hope that you have a re-think of your choices, though.

Since I was a pirate, I bought my hibiscus flowers when they first came out, around 4mil a pop. So, when you priced them recently, they were more "rarer" and less were out in the system.
I am glad that I am able to save for the books, plushies and beanbags that I didn't have the RWP to buy them with, so this is a win win for collectors. If you want them in your gallery, then the costs is especially high but again, you have it for your gallery and that gives us a chance to purchase them.

Huh, thanks for the information. I guess my memories deceive me. It also doesn't seem like that plot happened in 2009- wow. I only had access to the pirate shop back then, which added a difficulty factor.
On a side note- happy belated 6 year birthday to my face paint. :3
I don't know if I will ever bother saving up for most of these items, but at least now I have the option to and I appreciate that. I think one of the funnest things about Subeta is establishing goals and slowly working towards them, those books will definitely be a challenging goal for me in the future. :)
Just want to say I think you guys did a fuck good job and I, for one, am happy I can get the plush bbs I need for my collection when I need them, whereas before they weren't even in shops and I'm sure I would've been paying SHIT I DON'T EVEN WANT TO THINK ABOUT IT
The only thing I see from this thread are 1) People who understand the basis of the shop and why the prices are the way they are defending it and 2) People who expected to get retired plot items for dirt cheap and are mad it didn't turn out that way
But whatever, you two are still my favorite staff, getting shit done. Keep doing your thing. 10/10 Will Buy Eventually.
I really enjoy that we have the option to get these items. I wasn't around for that plot so I find it great. Yes, the prices are steep. But they're not nearly as impossible as some people are making it sound. Play the site, get sP, and buy what you want. That's the whole point, is it not?
I laughed when I saw the prices, but I also completely get why they're the way they are. They gave everyone with remaining points something like 50k per point and priced the items out to match the same value.
They acknowledged that prices were kinda crazy because the point spread and distribution for the plot itself was crazy. They learned from it and did better with future plots. Hobestly, the fact that these are now attainable is great. Will it take a long time if you want some of the more expensive items? Probably unless you work hard to make the sP, but its not impossible. Before, it was impossible to get things needed to finish collections, now you can. Yay.
I like the look of the shop but the thing that annoys me is the Direct to collections I prefer to read a book to my pet myself or put a plushie beanbag sticker into my collection if it was the case to do that myself I would buy every beanbag/plushie sticker and every book for my pet to read
As an older member of the site, I think new people are very lucky to even have the opportunity to purchase these items. If it was up to me I wouldn't even rerelease old retired items - I'm sure this opinion is one that is unpopular, but I think if you weren't around thats really just tough luck. They should of course be expensive - if these items were bought back in an affordable way it just wouldn't be fair.
I was never interested in these items. Not in 2010, not now. But despite the price tag, it's good these things are available for purchase. Making sp is not that difficult anymore, I make much more now than I did 5 years ago when I started. Since my return from hiatus, I made over 100mil, though I haven't been playing much these past couple of months or I'm sure I'd have even more than that, and I don't sell CSC or art or profiles, or anything like that. People are acting like these things are impossible to get, but they're really not.
That said, are they worth it? Not unless you want them.
I agree it is priced too highly, but I also agree with no de-valuing the items. However these items have not and were not this expensive when the plot was NEW. it's only been the passage of time that caused the items from the war to inflate so high.
Public Ping Group - Xanadu Galleria and RAE Collab
I really really extremely want:
Amber and I calculated it, and I posted a couple screenshots from the "about subeta" page to prove that the worth was PRETTY MUCH THE SAME, accounting inflation?
The items were selling for 9K per point after the event. However, because the average user had apprx. 2.5M on hand, and now, the average user has 13.2M on hand, meaning that 1 SP from 2009 = 5.28 SP from today.
Meaning that something that sold for 9K in 2009 would sell for 47.52K today, which is pretty much the price paid per leftover point by the shop (Which is 1 point = 50K)
So the only difference is the premium added when the shop was added, which is 25K.
I definitely like that this shop isn't going anywhere ever. And I definitely like the idea of turning in old plot points for sPs (still have unused points for Masq 2013 plot).
But i still wonder; since this shop wasn't designed as a major sPs sink (more of an added side effect)...then where is the actual sPs sink that has been talked about? o.O

it's crazy how people think that because staff mentioned sP sinks like once in passing, all of a sudden everything has to be an sP sink
do you really want to have less sP that bad because I don't think you do. That's also why the current sinks aren't working. People just want things to be cheaper, not to actually put effort into it
