How To Make Pie 2,210 sP 111 in stock
Ummm pretty sure this didn't happen pre-change.
That's what I was saying a couple posts ago. I don't think it was fully reverted to pre-fuck-everything-up status.
first time I've really noticed... there's like a hundred something of many things in stock right now - noticed while questing.
Artist Brushes ... 82 in stock Red Glowing Pen ... 107 in stock Raspberry Malticorn Lolly ... 188 in stock
I am not sure what implications this has, I'm not bothered by it but as it is more noticeable to me today then ever thought I'd chip in to this thread...
On the bright side, it looks like the various shop stock is much more diverse; I'm seeing low-rarity items being stocked that I've not seen in stock in at least a few weeks.

doing my quests & I'm sat here lmao at how many items are in the main shops.
Dark Water Potion 457 sP 196 in stock
Dark Magma Potion 498 sP 195 in stock
Dark Light Potion 485 sP 187 in stock
Dark Fire Potion 487 sP 211 in stock
Dark Earth Potion 500 sP 200 in stock
Stop trying to "improve" things hahaha
[flower=CastlesInTheSky] [tot=CastlesInTheSky] Dear users who keep blocking me....Remind me again, who TF are yous? ¯(ツ)/¯
I know the number of items in stock is awful and stuff but man am I happy to actually be able to sit down and RS for once.
If you'd conducted this situation with even the thinnest veneer of professionalism, and were open and communicative with your users from the very start and throughout your little experiment, you probably wouldn't have gotten that kind of backlash.
Instead, you ramrodded it through without any sort of forewarning or explanation, broke a succession of things that severely, negatively impacted users' ability to play, and vanished from the site and were unresponsive and incommunicado for days at a time. And when you finally did come back you were curt, rude, and dismissive towards users who had very good reason to be very upset with what was happening.
This site's been around long enough, and you've personally been at the center of enough site-related drama, that you should know by now that this "I'M in charge and I'll do what I WANT" tactic you keep favoring when it comes to major site changes is a terrible approach to running a small for-profit site. Behemoths like DeviantArt can get away with that kind of behavior, sure, because they have literally tens of millions of users and losing a few thousand isn't going to hurt them - but Subeta isn't that big and you can't afford to keep treating your user base like we don't matter (until it eventually comes back around to bite you, at least.)
I'm not saying to kowtow to every user demand ever, but for the love of God at least take user opinion into serious consideration and be open and up-front about things before doing something that's going to turn the entire site upside-down.
This entire change has been the result of changes from a survey, and also listening and watching feedback from users but ALSO looking at data and item prices and making choices based on that. The survey was posted after listening and taking feedback from a brainstorming thread. Users were involved in the entire process, and from day one all of the changes were made based on things that users had asked for. Obviously some things changed (and broke) along the way, but all of the changes were made to make the site easier and better for users. Both questers, and restockers.
I'm sorry if it comes off as rude when I say that threads like this give us a little piece of the information that we need to make choices. We're trying to be more data driven which means taking into account every user on the site, if they are buying more items after we make a change, how many quests are being done when we make a change, and the value of items up/down after we make a change. Feedback on these threads is important and fundamental but just a piece of the puzzle. In the past I would have just kept making small changes but now I'm trying to actually wait for the data to roll in before making those changes.
And yes, I see that flipping the switch to the old system didn't quite work :)

Thanks for resetting the shop stock! I also like the idea of another survey and did participate in the first one. Having a second one gives everyone a chance to give specific feedback related to the new changes. Of course from all the threads/posts we know it isn't going to very positive. Some people don't post in the threads so am hoping other restockers voice their opinions too.
But.....what we really need is a VENDING fix!!!! Between vending tons of crap and the shops only restocking the cheap vending crap things are really messed up. I'm not sure what the plans are behind the scene but hoping this gets addressed soon.
How is that reasoning any valid? Tumblr isn't even an official part of the site. Like are you serious? What's next? Facebook? Twitter? Instagram? Subeta is subeta. Everything else is everything else.
What do tickets have to do with this? Why are you lumping tickets with site feedback?
Also, you can survey the entire user populace all you want, but you can't expect each user to care enough or have the foresight to give constructive, informed feedback. Just because a minority of the users are posting feedback doesn't mean their feedback isn't valid. It doesn't mean they don't have valid concerns. You don't survey the entire U.S. population on defense issues. You have a Secretary of Defense. Before this is called a silly analogy, I'm not saying make a council of users to get feedback from and exclude everyone else; I'm saying not everyone will have something to say or something to bring to the table (because they don't care, because they don't know enough, because they don't have enough logic / economic skills, sorry, but this had to be said :x). So surveys aren't automatically the best way to go.
Also, kudos on the 100+ in stock. Talk about torching restocking down to the ground. And if this is an error, why hasn't this been fixed by now? Surely, one does not update code and then leave it without checking...??
It's the broke aspect which has got people fed up because the shops have been broken for weeks. Maybe we will like your plan to make the site easier and better for users if you can get the new system to work properly. Until then your users are going to be annoyed and frustrated.
The shops are still broken now but not as broken as before so that's some improvement.
Are you kidding? Vending is the only way I can get new/rare items anymore. I haven't seen any of the new items stock in the shops, even when they are supposedly "Normal" rarity.
Agreed but that isn't how things are supposed to work. Normal items should be restocking but since the "new" system has been in placed Normal is the new rare sigh I think the best thing to do would be replace the new system with the old code that actually worked. Then decided what to do about vending flooding the market and driving prices down. It is a sad state when there can be 75 or so different items in an NPC shop and none of them are worth purchasing.
I've just pushed some more changes, as well :) The feedback form will be coming out via event to users later today!

Thank you very much. I know you get tired of hearing us moan and groan. But we wouldn't complain if we didn't love the site. :)
True that. It's sad when user shops are lower priced than the main shops on the majority of shop searches when I'm questing. Doing away with the haggle and making it a (random) discount buff didn't help either in my opinion. At least vending's giving me a lot of stuff to frag lately tho. [edit] Slow..., I'm slow tonight. Looking forward to more diversity in the shops big time! Haven't seen any change yet...
So, just updating, my push from earlier is actually pushed now. I just realized the crontab (which is what hits things like the restocking script every x amount of minutes) was hitting the old script which was pointing to the new script, and last night in my effort to make the old script work, I took that out. So the old one has been running all night.
Changes pushed :)!
