Subeta became pretty much a social networking site at the turn of the decade, when Facebook started to be a thing. That's not new. That was the reason why we used to get SP for posting : to encourage discussion.
It's not much of a social networking site when most of the forums are to do with Subeta stuff. Discussions in the Debate forum aren't easy going either when there aren't many posts to a lot of topics and there's the necro rule. Even if I browsed through the topics and found something I'd like to reply to I'd be in trouble if the post concerned was in a topic which hadn't been added to in over 3 months.. We can't even use smilies at the moment because the Emoji emoticons no longer work.
Posting in the forums doesn't help the Subeta economy. It doesn't help the players annoyed by the restocking situation when they feel their complaints are being ignored either. If people get so fed up with the way things are going that they leave there won't be much forum posting going on.
Forums clearly help the economy because every friggin week, I get Sebastian Phoenix waiting for me in Bragging/Complaining to take 7% of my on-hand SP, so clearly that has to do something.
Serious answer : No, forums don't help the economy, but what currently helps the economy right now? Answer, not a whole lot?
Staff doesn't give a fucking shit about restocking. Of course we're going to be ignored because it was openly stated that they wanted to do away with restocking because "it's too much like Neopets". Staff is doing as it usually do, they ignore the complains until people get over it. This is what happens every time.
Seriously, we were told that communication would improve, and the lack of communication speaks a lot to me.
Like I said, the survey we had to fill? Biased as hell. It asked how much did you restock and stuff, but didn't compare with anything.
Staff tailor-made a survey to tell them what they wanted to hear : people prefer mindlessly clicking a dumb button than actually having to remember what is worthwhile and what is not.
LOL. I'll make sure I have very little sP on hand if I go there again. :D
The Antique Shop definitely hasn't. I was the 23rd richest user before it appeared and I'm still the 23rd richest user. It's nice that people have the chance to get these items now but there have been a lot of comments on the lines of "Not at those prices." This means the Antique Shop is never going to be the kind of sP sink that the site needs.
Sadly, the only kind of complaint they're likely to listen to is players not spending real money on the site. This is unlikely to happen because of CWs and Cash Shop items. The people who buy GAs purely for the autopricer are probably in the minority.
It speaks a lot to me as well. :(
Mindlessly clicking a dumb button doesn't supply all the items which have stopped coming into the shops, though. Now that restocking has been killed, vending needs to be adjusted to cover this.
I think we were told that draining SP from the site was a bonus but yeah, the antique shop is not the SP sink we were told about, you know, the one who is coming out *soon
If people aren't willing to pay the prices in the antique shop now, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have paid the prices they were back then. I resold a lot of CSC to get everything I wanted, back then, I didn't buy everything with the money from that week's quests.
"but it was 9K per point when they were released why are they so expensive qq"
DUDE WE DIDN'T HAVE WEEKEND QUESTS AND GETTING 2.5M A DAY WAS PRETTY MUCH UNHEARD OF.
Seriously people really underestimate how annoying this plot was
Yeah the Antique Shop annoys me, because I think the rerelease premium is a little high (It's 33% of the items worth, it seems like a high tax), but there are so many potential SP sinks I would have liked (HELLO, LET ME BRIBE THE RUFFIE FROM THE RAFFLE, I WOULD PAY LIKE 5M TO GET MY CREAM NEELA LIFELIKE DOLL)
Hey guys - we aren't ignoring you. It takes us a week to collect data on changes, we can't just keep making tiny changes and then closing our eyes and hoping it fixes the problem, we have to actually wait and see how it changes the site.
A: I'm going to send out another feedback form on this (because we tend to get a lot better responses in that way) but basically it seems like a lot of people on this thread have one of two problems. The most recent changes made it so that items sitting in the shops get removed fairly quickly, shops clear every night, etc. This means that people who do buy items from the main shops and put them in their shop make a profit because of B. B: On the other hand it means that if you're doing a quest, you are far less likely to find the items for that quest in the shop search, meaning you have to buy them from another user and sometimes a premium.
I've made some more tweaks to the system and just pushed them, but like I said, don't expect anymore sudden changes until we can collect the kind of data that we need to make further changes. People in the forums threatening to burn down the site do not equal a portion of the system. We need to be able to see how the prices of items change (in the most recent changes, they've started shifting upwards), how many quests are quit instead of completed, how many quests are completed with items entirely from the NPC shops, etc.
💖 ✨ 🤗
Thank you for giving us some insight into the problem. I know personally, before the RSing changes I was getting many of my quest items from NPC shops, but after NPC shops seem to have become borked, I would do all of my quests with maybe 4-5 items coming from NPC shops? And most of the time I wasn't pleased about it because of the prices. I do quit a lot more quests now which is not a fun pastime.
Also I do frequent the shops as an RSer and these past couple of weeks, I have not been getting anything even as a shopper. Maybe one good item here and there but nowhere near how I used to RS, and it does make it pretty hard to earn sP now.
Why can't we just have the old restocking system back? It worked and people were happy with it. The way it is now we have to spend all our waking hours patrolling the NPC shops in hope that something worth restocking comes in. What makes it worse is that we've been putting up with all these minor tweaks etc for weeks. :(
Hi everyone, I've been following this thread from afar until now :)
I'm glad to see that there is some response going on- I took a hiatus from Subeta for a few months due to personal reasons, and it seems this RS change happened just after I left. Coming back to it is a little odd, but I'm getting used to it- though like many other RSers, I do like the old way of RSing.
My view tends to be based on one single user (me) who hasn't had any significant sP funding problems in the past. I could complete most of the quests I went on (mostly Wizard Quests), and I could buy many WL items with onhand sP. I chalk that up to the fact that most of my Subeta time is spent either restocking or browsing forums to buy WL items from other users. I do hope there another feedback form once people have had some time to play with the new system and see how it effects them.
The one thing I do miss is the old restocking times. Some of my favorite shops aren't really worth hanging around in as they were before. I find that I jump from shop to shop, generally trying to find lower profit items that may have been missed by others rather than picking a place and staying there. This process has worked for me (I was able to snag a plushie going for over 600k yesterday), but all in all I'm spending a lot less time RSing than I did before, and for me, that tends to mean less time on Subeta because RSing was (and still is) my thing on here.
I'm sure there are other points of view out there from people who do more questing and less RSing, and there have been many points about how this change may effect new users trying to earn their first round of RS-ing sP (I remember when I started years and years ago, I would buy a few things and sell them, buy more and sell more until I got to a sustainable level where I could constantly refill my shop without having to wait for items to sell).
Just my two cents on the subject! Thanks to everyone for getting their opinions out there too, and to staff for analyzing the situation. I know the intent is to make a great site that we all enjoy using and that we feel comfortable spending RL money on if we wish- I think with open lines of communication and site feedback, that can be accomplished!

yeah, no, there is NOTHING wrong with NPC shops right now. Nothing at all. ///end sarcasm
I love RS-ing in the music shop... but this shop used to RS every 7 minutes. WTH? Plus, until a few days ago, the only items that were ever restocking were commons with no value. Wasn't the system supposed to ban items that aren't bought for a certain number of days? Because it seems like it was doing the opposite - banning items that were commonly bought, since I barely ever see normals/rares in there anymore.
I literally came here to post the exact same thing!

I'm not sure exactly what changes were pushed, but it seems like it's stopped the shops from restocking. I checked most of the shops and the most recent restock time was 1 hour, 35 minutes ago.

Heads up, restock times are all pushing two hours in the NPC shops now (I haven't been restocking today to verify the inventories haven't changed, but the listed restock times are all quite high across the board it appears).
Could you let us know what you tweaked? It sounds like just more communication would make people happier, plus I'm just curious.
I... have no idea what this means.
There isn't a problem with needing time to collect data, but ignoring a board of growingly fustrated users is. There is no reason why someone from staff couldn't have stepped in and said that data was being collected and evaluated.

This! Can we please get some more communication? I get that there are changes. I get these things time time. But when the userbase gets no response to our questions, we get frustrated. When we get frustrated, yeah, we're going to vent. We're not trying to "burn down the site". We just want what was previously a working system to start working again.

Okay... what exactly was "tweaked"? Because it's wreaking havoc on shop restock times. If I thought one hour+ restocks are bad, we're verging on over two hours now.

There is hardly anything left in these NPC stores and more sP isn't being taken out of the economy - it's going to user shops.

This is pushing beyond frustrating. I understand things are being done behind the scenes, but this is... kinda exasperating. I'm not a huge restocker, but I do try to catch new wearables/older ones i don't have when I can and it's been a huge pain lately. I can't imagine how people who actually RS for profit or whatever are keeping it together if it's irritating me when it's not even my main activity on the site (I'm a wardrobe warrior).

Just going to leave this here. I'll just give up on restocking for today. Or forever, which seems to be the goal? :c
And we are now approaching the three hour range?
