"Because people wanted them" You're generalizing. People voted for the items they wanted. If the facial items didn't get enough votes, then tough shit, people didn't want them enough compared to the other items (also, this is why you shouldn't submit recolors haha)
I still want to know if these items were just pushed through because of bitching or if they were the runners-up in terms of winning.
I'm so glad they released four other winners, and specifically face items! Great move :)
Unless Louis sold items for SP and not candy hearts, I would have preferred to see 10 Zombie Den and 0 Louis because MONEY SINKS.
I WILL ALWAYS SUPPORT MONEY SINKS WHO MAKE SENSE.
Shh I have 20k hearts. Give me all the Louis (nah I don't really care I got sP too but ALL THESE HEARTS)
Do like what I did the first year we had Vesnali Coin, buy 5000 of a 5 heart minion.
I have like 1300 Happy Songbirds and now they retired.
IS THIS WHY YOU HAVE OVER 1200 OF THOSE BIRDS? Jeebus, you're worse than me with bacon.
Yes, this is why. I never expected Esther items to actually retire when I bought them and now I am covered in birds.
Seriously, I would like more high priced Louis items. I actually would really like it, just like we have the Yunium Key
You said "So you think it would be fair to give items that didn't get the most votes a win just because of the L'Amour Parlour theme?" No, but it's also no more "fair" than adding four more items, all facial features, all Zombie den, that obviously weren't necessarily the next top four vote getters. How is that any more or less fair than an equal split between the two shops?
Honestly, I also had anticipated ten winners, five from each shop, or perhaps six Zombie and four Louis, had a hugely greater number of Zombie items been submitted. However, eight to two? I'm sorry, but that really just doesn't seem to be fair, nor necessarily reflect what the users really want, if there were simply vastly more Zombie entries from which to choose.
Personally, I deliberately chose to have something made for the Love Shack, specifically because I wanted as many users who wanted to have it to be able to get it, as some of Skitters items are really fairly pricey, especially for newer players. Mt entry was the "Something's Fishy Candy Delivery", drawn by Olympia. Unfortunately, a virus happened to pick a particularly inopportune time to attack my computer (the evening of the 19th/early morning of the 20th)and literally wipe out over half of Windows. It took my elder son a few days to finally get everything back and functioning and protected (yesterday evening) and, by that time, voting, which I honestly had no idea was even going to be happening, as I had assumed Staff choices, was already over. So I had had no chance to even "campaign" for votes for mine, or even tell my friends that it was, in fact, my entry, some of whom would have most likely given it a vote.
That being said, I have had SO many inquiries about it, as well as requests to release it, plus a HUGE number of people telling me that they had voted for it, plus at least three or four comments in the New post concerning it, that I really have to believe that it did do reasonably well in the voting. So, if four face items were added on the sole basis of being facial items, and were not actually the next four items voting wise, then, yes, I'm sorry, but I do view it as unfair to add categories where there were none, and declare additional winners based solely on this.
If Keith were going to do that, then he may as well have gone the other direction and decided that it was unfair to have the Zombie items and Love items all grouped together, and declared four new winners for the Love Shack. What would have been fair, were there going to be an additional four winners, would have been the next four highest vote getters, regardless of category. Since it is way out of proportion now at 8 to 2, I would really like to see at least two more Love Shack items added. I personally did not submit mine as an actual CW, waiting to see if there might possibly be a few more winners declared, just in case, as I really wanted it to be available for everyone to have and enjoy, since, as I said, so many people want it, and not just a select few that can afford to shell out 700 CSC for a CW. However, just arbitrarily declaring four new facial items winners, regardless of actual placing in the voting (other than, I assume, being the top four facial vote getters), really sort of threw me a curve ball.
A final note, buying with candy hearts could also be an sP sink. Since my computer was down four a total of four days, I will never be able to get enough candy hearts to buy everything I need for my Gallery. There should be a shop that sells the candy hearts for a stable amount, like the Avalanche Emporium does with the snowballs. I would literally buy hundreds of candy hearts if there were, as I am still working on 2013, and still need everything from 2014 and 2015 after that.
I VOTED FOR DA SHARK. DA SHARK SHOULD'VE WON, NOT THE FACE ITEMS.
I didn't agree with staff suddenly adding 4 winners that were all face items. If they were the next in line to win due to having the most votes then I think it would have made sensnse.
Wolf_Spirit's suggestion that after voting there should have been 5 Love themed items is unfair because that was not a rule when voting, and until the numbers are released no won will truely know how well their item did.
I would have liked to have seen more lovey themed items, but if the public didn't vote for them they shouldn't be made winners. Likewise if people didn't vote for those facial features they shouldn't be winners either.
Regarding my earlier posting, what I was trying to say is I think many of the subeta users would feel happier about the results of the entire competition, if the votes were listed for each submission. The vote tallies are usually released, but this time they were not. So, this makes many of us question it.
;________; shark. I voted for it too.

I'd be willing to bet that at least some of the 7-10 winners, if they weren't the face items, were already submitted as regular CWs by the time staff decided to release more items. And I believe that it's the scary face items that won, since they were ones without recolors, which most of the cute ones had in my memory.
I think these contests are going to continue to be frustrating as long as they allow face items that can't be submitted any other way. If there are more, people are going to get more annoyed by resubmitted entries, and voters are going to be sad that losing ones can't be reality. I have absolutely no idea why staff didn't split the categories in the first place like they did for the Peka-Boo contest, and that would have helped (even not knowing how many winners there would be, of course there was going to be a lot of face entries), but if it continues it's just going to be annoying to everyone.
I agree that I just don't see why face CWs aren't allowed. It can't be because of style because the style of site eyes covers a whole spectrum, even recent ones. It can't be because of positioning concerns because site eyes are all over the whole face, even recent ones. Makeup is allowed, and you can totally change the shape of site eyes by putting a heavy makeup item over them already. Having some custom non-makeup eyes would be great. People want to be able to give the site money for this. I don't see any harm being done here and this drama would be avoided because all the item contest entries would be on equal footing.
And full disclosure: of the items I voted for only the albino bunny won. And I voted for the shark.
