User prices of prizes have not settled down yet. We took data as to how many were awarded vs. how many people are serious collectors. We wanted prizes to have value, because they are prizes. Next time, there will be more ways to get points, and a prize shop instead.

What/how do you consider someone to be a serious collector? How many additional do you figure were put out into the system above what you (general you) feel are "serious collectors"?

And, what about the new players that sign up every day and might want to be a "serious" collector but now can't?

Please tell me that looking at some magical number of "serious" collectors, however way you guys went about that, wasn't the only thing taken into consideration. It's not only the collectors that want a particular item. Was the possibility of them going into TCs even considered? How about galleries (even though those are seriously underdeveloped compared to the rest of the site)? And like said, future collectors?

I don't collect anything on here seriously because I know it's events like this that will screw me over. A person on here said they aren't even interested in buying collectibles from the cs anymore. The fact that staff thought it was okay to put a book as a vinyl and that exclusive is saying to the rest of us .. why even try? (HnR, even if you guys wanted that vinyl and a book, it's not your fault, not that you need anyone's absolution, because you don't)

I love the idea of nontangibles being prizes as pointed out.

Tbh peka-boo as an event seemed CHILL. Botb was only a week long with one game. It didn't really seem like a big deal compared to any of the other plots or events. I mean, you guys didn't even put up a faq (yes, I cannot let that go okay). You allowed it to be user-driven by way of band creation and upkeep on the forums. So the prizes come as a complete shock?

Yes, I'm writing and repeating so much, because I'm upset. I'm upset with the way the event was handled and how the response is being handled now. If we keep this up, this thread will technically last longer than botb did. How sad is that? I think you guys got enough feedback as to how to make future events better. My question is do you plan to fix THIS mess instead of downplaying botb or bringing up some magical stats?

Personally, as a Horns and Roses Supporter, I think the main problem was that H&R may have got a disproportionate amount of UNIQUE prizes compared to the Granny Smiths + Genre Winners.

I'd suggest the following prize distribution, (Taking into account the number of unique prizes H&R has already won)

Horns and Roses- 6 unique prizes

Granny Smiths- 5 unique prizes

Every other Genre winner- 3 unique prizes.

Only the SUPPORTERS would get their band's items . Therefore, we should have a proportionate, if not equal , number of exclusive prizes for each band.

...

tbh I don't even know anymore. I think botb had a chance at being a great event but it sort of got screwed over by poor planning. :c Fingers crossed for the events to come!

No, it would just create more rare, impossible to obtain items. The problem was the huge amount of unique items given to a group of small people that also got every possible prize, just because of the fact they got lucky to pick the winning band. Not saying you guys didn't put effort, but imagine other finalist band members, they had to advertise, look good, AND play that game. It's ilogical to reward them a small fraction of the supporter prizes.

3 for genre winners? Aw, bless you, that sounds like way too much for us given everything. ;O; Personally, I would have been happy with one unique item that I didn't have any input in as a genre winner, but we didn't even get that. Compared to how many prizes there were, I think that's abysmal. The impression this makes is staff got so into designing stuff for the grand prize winners, they forgot about everyone else, because how else can you explain away top scorers getting existing on-site items? It's harsh, but it feels like almost everyone else was forgotten to please 100-something people. That's not alright and no amount of downplaying the event to a "bad pancake" metaphor is going to make it better.

Eh, that depends on distribution. The genre winners prizes would have essentially been having items based on their bands (isn't that an honor in itself? I know I would have been pleased). That then could be distributed to everyone in said genre. Works better than what actually happened.

I'm definitely advocating for more prizes for the other finalist bands. Perhaps the exclusive items rewarded could be items that are either-

a) clothes - These don't have an impact on collections, and while some people could be lusting after them, they're not necessarily game breakers-

b) Stickers/books/food/plushies that are NOT necessary for collections. I don't collect these so I'm not sure how it works, but food for thought, maybe?

c) Toys or non-usable items (I think I saw this suggested before), good for TC's, not required for collections soo.

Alternatively, like others suggested, there could be a prize shop that contained all the items;

Supporters of each band (and I'm still pretty miffed all the other bands didn't get AT LEAST one item for themselves) could either get their themed item for free/?at a discount?. (The prizes given for participation would be free, of course.)

If people from OTHER bands wanted a certain prize that another band got , they'd have to pay the full price, but it would still be accessible.

Perhaps we could implement the same strategy used for CW items that were put in the fashion yurt. Each band would get SP from purchases of their items.

I hope I'm making sense. ;n;

I absolutely agree! The prize distribution was a low point of the event. And while I really appreciated the number of unique items my band received, it was soured by the fact that little consideration was given to other bands. :c

I mean I wasn't expecting star treatment for being a genre winner, but c'mon. Seeing HnR get 6, Granny Smiths get 2, and the genre winners being dismissed (though my band got luckiest imo because the wearable and plushie are both pertinent, the other bands... can't say the same :c and it sucks) sours everything. But apparently I'm a sour grape, sore loser, and a greedy asshole. I wonder if people were in our shoes, would they not be upset? I highly doubt it. I even told a friend that it really seems like the plushies and fliers were made prior to announcing the genre winners, because they're so generic and irrelevant to the winning bands.

I knew somehow that HnR would win. They were a clear winner. [...] Now I wish I&;d followed the crowd, only because of the way the prize distribution was - ridiculously uneven.

How did you know that tho? Even us playing for horns and roses didn't know that, and the scores were so close, and we actually had less people (so if you followed the largest crowd you'd have lost anyway!!), so if you truly did know congratulations on your superpowers!

(ok i'll stop commenting on this every time someone says it but it just annoys me, but i'm over it lol) Totally fair question! :) Because the members were super active on the forums and their thread was huge. X) Their look also seemed to be popular (something I see a lot of, style-wise). Don't get me wrong, they totally deserved their win. It's not their fault Subeta had poor planning etc.

To add something to give thought to - perhaps the users that gave the largely pleased with the event & everything feedback aren't "serious collectors" and more casual players or even non-collectors (at best?) ?

That must be true, because no true collector would have enjoyed this event as a whole.

There are definitely some sour grapes out there just throwing around hate for no reason. But I can tell you're not one of them. You have every right to discuss the unfairness of the situation. c:

Aw, thanks! c: I feel like I'm a nagging broken record, saying the same things over and over in the hopes someone cares, but I feel like it's a moot point by now. No one on staff's going to address or talk about how much botb was unfair from start to finish. It doesn't even look like cares to post in here since he wasn't involved in the project even though as owner he should care if this thread is filled with 15 pages of posts that are looking for answers. I guess the real answer will come with how stuff is handled in the future.

To be honest I wasn't really bothered by the prizes I got at first, I was actually quite content with them (sure, they didn't really have anything to do with the band I supported but as I've said before I don't collect anything so I pretty much just sold pieces or poked them away) until I saw how many prizes people got for just joining the winning team (which was completely disproportionate to the length/intensity of the event). I'm not trying to diminish anyone's effort, so please don't take it that way, but that's essentially what happened to many other people who busted a gut trying to participate only to realize their efforts were essentially null and void for picking the band they liked and not the winner (who were legitimately a neat band so I see WHY they won, I just don't like the prize distribution)...

BotB seemed like a mini-event more than an actual event (one game, minimal voting, not much else going on), so looking at all of the prizes it just looks a little crazy I guess?

Sometimes I feel for the staff and all the stuff they have to read/go through. But unfortunately the customer/user comes first? It's better that they know rather that they don't. :c

If I am feeling courageous enough I might send you a sMail about the botb prizes later. ;n;

I feel the same way. :/ I was in one of the bands that made it to the finals and I knew that we didn't have a chance to win. I knew I wouldn't get the top-tier prizes and I was perfectly okay with that, I did what I could to help my band and send scores every day along with helping out in the raffle. But when I saw how huge the prize difference was between the winning band and everyone else, it left a really bad taste in my mouth and made me wonder why I even tried in the first place. I feel like everyone who supported the underdog bands (band members included) got royally screwed over.

Literally all you had to do to get the full load of prizes was click the support button for the most popular band. That's it. Zero effort, zero participation required. With all other events and plots, you get what you give in terms of prize vs. effort. With this, not so much. That's where the whole problem lies, I believe. This was abysmally handled, from the very delayed start (started at 5am European time wtf Subeta), right to the prize distribution at the end.

This isn't about the collectable items for me. It's about the whole event being poorly done when it was so hyped up and looked so promising before it began. ngl, it felt even worse than the half-assed zombie plot we had that one year, and that says volumes.

I'm not the kind of person who regularly participates in contests that force you to be social and this just turned me off of participating in them in the future.

My reaction to this entire event: LOL.

When are we going to stand up straight and stop bending over so Subeta can stop kicking us in the ass?

"Serious Collector" loooooool

Oh god. this thread, its just full of the lulz for me. 99% of the posts are spot on. Loving the readable Record, of all fucking things.

This is exactly why I deleted everything off my WL except beanbags. You can't be a serious collector anymore. Unless you're only seriously collecting one thing.

Which I guess means once I complete my collection again I will have no reason to be on the site. Again. Shooting yourself in the foot a bit, aren't ya, subeta?

And again for those of you TL;DR : Entire Event = LOOOOOOOOOL.

I wish we could just have had epicon again or something. I love the nerdy prizes and the cosplay contest is a lot of fun. This event was boring and completely disappointing. Maybe I wouldn't feel that way so much if there were other ways to get points than a game that I and a lot of people had a really hard time with.

Basically, it just kind of felt like a school project you didn't want to do but had to - not something that's supposed to be fun. And I'm sorry, but haha, Peka-boo is a really lame name. No offense intended. it's kind of witty but doesn't fit the demographic. We're mostly older teens and adults here, not kidlets and it's a really childish name.

And crap, I never got that graphics tablet from the fashion yurts. ...Looks like I won't be getting it either. it's totaly not worth that much to me. Damn.

Pretty much everyone on this thread seems to more or less feel that way, sadly. I don't really care for more prizes or anything I just hope that people involved in making these events will seriously consider what everyone here has been saying.

I also don't spend too much time of the forums, especially not to complain, but lately I've been so fed up with everything that I just can't stop myself. @

I actually feel worse for HnR than anything else, because all of this controversy has (in my eyes) taken away from the fact that they won and legitimately had a great band (and even though I don't do wearables those HnR eyes are boss, just sayin').

I know what you mean. :( The winning bands earned that victory. There's no doubt in my mind about that. There was a ton of creative stuff going on among the finalists (Granny Smiths and Chai Punk made me grin IRL) and all the guys and gals did a fabulous job with the band ideas, backstories, album covers, everything. I'm so disappointed that everything had to crash and burn because the event was literally half-done and staff's response so far was along the lines of "meh, this event was the first of it's kind. w/e you toss the first pancake out either way let's not even bother".

put it really nicely:
