The Dragarth has been given a makeover! :)

Actually, the strip on the wing could have been left alone, as Magnus has them as well.

I like them.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

The body and the wings look great... except that the chest fur seems to suddenly pop out of no where instead of looking like a natural fluff of fur. However I do not like the facial expression at all, it no longer suits my pet's character, and it is the new head that looks mishapen to me. The old one looked fine, it was my favorite pet.

Actually, the old Dragarth's head didn't look misshapen at all. It's stylized. There's a difference. Keeping in mind that it was slightly tilted toward the viewer in that nifty "come and get some" expression, all the proportions and symmetry of the face were correct. It was just drawn in a slightly angular style, which was just fine and suited its character well.

The new one, on the other hand, is neither correct nor stylized. The eyes and horns especially - its left eye is too high and too sharply angled to match the right one, and its left horn is just way off. Try to imagine its head without the tuft of fur. Where do you think the horn is growing out of? Air. The base would barely be touching the head, if at all.

I would apologize in case this sounds harsh as it's intended to be a simple crit, but for one I'm sure nobody would believe me, and for two I doubt anyone will read this anyway since this post is so old now. shrug

I think the redraw is great, but I agree that the kinda devious grin made it stand out. Maybe sneak that smile back in?

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Honestly, I like the change. But, then again, I was always easily won over by pets with spiffy shading. A lot of people are complaining about the smile. I actually like it; it's like the line of the mouth adds something to the sructure and depth of the jaw (just my opinion).

Debi, if they're made-up creatures, isn't there leniency in the anatomy? o: Having that angular-ness was what made this creature ORIGINAL. And not just like any other poofy critter with wings and horns

I understand why this didn't have a poll, Keith wanted to move forward. And I guess I sorta' respect that.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by DebiLee
User Avatar

There isn't going to be a poll; this one has already been approved and added. Once again, the old facial expression couldn't be made to look right on the revamp, so it was changed. If anything the head of the old version is misshapen, being all angular.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

The old version looked better in my opinion. I liked the scowl. The head in the new one seems a bit misshapen as well.

But my Dragarth still looks the same, so I'm not complaining.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

The older Dragarth was badass, and had shiny fur. This one has a nose of the wrong shape. I was going to get a Dragarth, but this might make me change my mind...

Sorry but i like the older dragarth better. Mostly because of his expression and the face itself. Also his legs seemed thinner, these ones look too bulky.. I do like that it has more detail then the last one however.

I think we should have done a poll for this, because you may be surprised, from the feedback this one is getting many people may have voted old.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I liked the seeming agression in the old one. If they just modified the old one's fur and wings a bit, it would look cooler...this one DEFINITELY needs a poll.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

the head seems a bit too small and squared for the body or something... the wings seem all wrong: they don't seem to be in the right place and seem like they wouldn't be realistic. The new one IS cute, but I'd rather the old one.

Topdoggie, we're just stating our opinions ^.^ And change isn't always good, just remember that xDD

I wonder what made up Keith's mind not too have a poll, though he probably couldn't have foreseen all these comments |D

I'm not such a big fan of the change...

I liked the old one better. There is something about this one's head that I just don't like.

I also preferred the feet on the old one better.

And i totally agree that you don't need actually to own a dragarth, to crit it...
i personally wanted one (DM) just had not the right name for it.
but like the DM Demi i liked in old too...
i think i might have to look out again for an other DM-pet to get... XD
ah well, life is hard.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

The only thing I miss the older version's more devious expression.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

I can hardly remember what the old Dragarth looked like. Anyone have a picture of it or something? It's starting to bug me.

I believe that whether people like the revamp or not everyone can agree that the artist did a wonderful job regardless. The shading is particularly phenomenal, however there's something that throws me about this new version that I can't quite place. It could simply be personal taste.

oops, sorry, just read DebiLees comment. Now i understand why it wasn't polled. Well I haven't got one, but i was waiting and i have had one, I changed him, I was going to change him back when i got the right potion.....

But as i said, it is beautifully done and a big congrats go to the artist. Now i know what the inspiration was for the pet, it makes sense.....

And I know i will eventually get used to it and i'll get a new Dagarth.

I love the furry bits and the shading. A lot of people have said dragarth needed an update and I think this one is perfect. I can't see whats wrong with the head and I always thought the expression on the old dragarth looked like it was in pain or worried. If I could get more pets I'd get a dragarth. I still hope spectrum isn't changed though. Thats always been my favourite dragarth and it fits Hustle perfectly.

Hhhmmm, i think i prefer the old one. I wishedthere was a pole for this, coz i like the old one better. This one is still good though, its just my opinion. The art is still very well done.

Exactly, Zess .. Id like to own a lot more pets than I do, and I dont exactly want to change my pets species because it fits them very well. So that argument isnt valid . . .

I love the new one! I love more fluff! So cute and..bold. Dashing. What other words can I say, impressive! ^^

I don't have one, but was thinking of creating one/morphing one of my pets to a field Dragarth. But now as they don't look like Dragarths anymore and the field ones lost their cool turquoise-ish colour...no, I'll have to look for another pet if it will stay like this.

So, it doesn't matter if anyone of the users who 'complain' about is have Dragarths or not. They could like them even if they don't own one.

I like the revamp for the most part. I love the body, especially the legs, but its face looks wrong to me (especialy the eyes- they're at an odd angle).

I'm just wondering what happened to the polls. Since so many people are upset by the change, I don't know why there was no poll before the revamp. The same thing happened with the Antlephore, and several other pets have been revamped suddenly. Why not let the users decide what their pets look like?

More detail on the head... I guess what I really don't like about it is the smile and the flooff about it's eyes. Great job on the wings. I like the furry look too.

I'm not actually a dragarth owner but I've toyed with the idea of getting one for a while now, and because of that I'll just repeat what everyone's been saying. The head is wrong.. Well, not the head but definetely the expression, also the shape of the eyes. However on the plus side those wings are just lovely and the body looks fine.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Fruity_280
User Avatar

-sigh- Alright. I still like the old one better; I planned to get one when a certain name became available. I would probably like it if the head was changed... and if it had the grin. The rest is pretty good though.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

Rushes other and tackles the dragarth So awsome! I love the wing fix, the fix on the hair, the shading, the toes and I agree- I don't want all my pets to look mischevious or..whatever. I preffer a slightly more neutral look, yet with a personallity hidden in the pet somewhere. THe smile it a bit... strange. Like, it wants to pee and has to hold it in because it's posing. (only the smile) Congrats on the new revamp, now I hav to see the other colors and decide on one. XD

And that strip on the wing didn't belong there, so it was removed.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by DebiLee

The Dragarth was always meant to be furrier, like Falkor the Luck Dragon on The Neverending Story. We already have scaly dragons. As was said it wasn't polled because Keith and kelpie both approved it as is and it didn't need to be polled (all of the other artists did critique it before it was added); that's the only reason that it wasn't, not every pet revamp is polled. And, going by poll trends, this version would have won by a significant margin anyway had it been polled. The same number of people have problems with every pet revamp, no matter how much of an improvement it is; that is indicative of nothing. A good percentage of those complaining don't even have a Dragarth, and others, judging by some incorrect observations in some of the comments, don't actually remember exactly what the old version looked like.

I really hope the angelic doesn't get a makeover - I plan on getting one, but it would suck if they were changed.

December 31, 1969, 7:00 pm by Deleted User

If you just cut down on the fur, bring back the strip on the wing like the Bloodred Dragarth/old design and its a winner!
