I got one! The Great Emu War!!! It took place in Australia in 1932 when a large number of emus started damaging crops. The Australian military was deployed to combat the emus (but the emus won, of course, very slay of them).

Way back in the day, people were buried alive so often that bells were attached to their coffins. Due to the lack of medical expertise, comatose people were sometimes mistakenly assumed dead and buried alive. To avoid this occurrence people were buried with little bells above the ground, attached to a string, which went into the coffin. If the person were buried alive and later woke up, they would tug on the string that would ring the bell above ground, hopefully someone would hear it and then dig the person out of their premature resting place.
I’m not entirely sure I believe this, how would they have known this was happening 🤷♀️
Thanks for the kindness and your fun idea! I love random history facts ❤ My own: The 1518 Dancing Plague was a curious epidemic in the city of Strasbourg, in modern-day France. It began with a woman named Frau Troffeau dancing for a week straight on the city's streets, with more and more townsfolk eventually joining her. In the end, somewhere between 50 to 400 people danced for weeks before a religious ritual eventually calmed down the plague. It is one of the best documented cases of "dancing plagues" in history and generally attributed to mass hysteria nowadays.
Join us in the dance too, share your facts!

thanks for hosting this giveaway! And thanks for tagging me ^^
For my fact, let me tell you a cat story! There was this sailor cat called Oscar, who boarded a WWII german ship. The ship got attacked and it sank, but Oscar survived and made his way to another ship... That also sank, but Oscar still survived. Then the same thing happened again: Oscar boarded a third ship and it sank, but Oscar still managed to get away! He earned the nickname of Unsinkable Sam after surviving three shipwrecks, and thankfully got adopted after surviving the third one. He spent the rest of his life in peaceful retirement in Belfast.

Participation gifts send to everyone so far. :)

My fun historical fact: Tablecloths were originally designed to be used as one big, communal napkin. When they were first invented, guests were meant to wipe off their hands and faces on a tablecloth after a messy dinner party.

Thanks for doing this! Now for the fact:
In 1386, a pig was executed in France. In the Middle Ages, the pig attacked a child who went to die later from their wounds. The pig was arrested, kept in prison, and then sent to court where it stood trial for murder, was found guilty, and then executed by hanging!
- Thanks for the giveaway <3
-Fun fact: Great Smog of London!! For a week in 1952 the air pollution in London was so terrible that they couldn't see the ground through the smog. The only way to travel during this time was the underground train, but tons of people ended up stranded at train stations because they couldn't see to get home. Some people were even walking right into the Thames and drowning. Blind people in the city traveled to the train stations and lead people home because they already knew how to navigate the city without sight. *Less fun fact: asthma diagnoses SKYROCKETED after this event.
I love dogs, and so this: Dogs noses are wet to help absorb scent chemicals. ... The Beatles song 'A Day in the Life' has a frequency only dogs can hear. ... Three dogs survived the Titanic sinking. ... The tallest dog in the world is 44 inches tall. . Basenji dogs don't bark, they yodel

Thanks .
In the 1800s the South African Railway employed a baboon named Jack (who was an aid to a disabled signalman) apparently they paid him twenty cents a day and half a bottle of beer each week. It is widely reported that for the 9 years he worked at the railway, Jack had never made a single mistake.
[e] ahh, I love how the gifts pertained to the post!
