I’m not sure if we will have a Survival next year not in case it reminds too many people of what’s going on (even for me, seeing and hearing the word "Pandemic" makes me unhappy. But in case we do (it’s popular and the skins these days are less to do with diseases), I thought I’d make a suggestion thread.
For L’amor Parlor: We could have a few things tie in with current events and have some books about managing long distance relationships and limited visits with loved ones.
Also, I think people have been asking for more hand wash and sanitiser items, maybe there could be some scented ones that also have a wearable overlay?
Those white cut-out items from some of the recent holidays are popular, it would be nice to have some with love heart designs, and someone suggested something like that in last year’s thread.
For Zombie Den: Last year I suggested having foods based on the 2019 strains, but that didn’t happen. But there’s no harm in asking again. If zombies don’t like to eat body parts from their own kind, they could just be whichever kind of food they are rather than made from parts of them. And they don’t even have to be for the Zombie Den, they could be for the Lost Skeleton instead.
I’m also going to bring back my Morostide suggestion of blood going across limbs that, when used with the limb hiding feature, makes it look like they’ve been cut off.
For either: I’ve mentioned before about having some items with descriptions about what some of the NPCs did during the original event in 2009, and I think it would be even more relevant now.
Skin ideas: Last year I suggested a few things, one of which was Subeta lands, which was used, and they were all very creative and well-received. We could have skins based on more lands, or based on different Subeta items. I also suggested skins based on rocks or stones (that might have been based on another user’s idea).
"Also, I think people have been asking for more hand wash and sanitiser items, maybe there could be some scented ones that also have a wearable overlay?"
That belongs in Medicontra tbh.
Hot take: as long as it remains respectful to the real life matters, there isn't an issue, imo. This is fictional.
More of a hot take: now is kind of a really crap point at which to care if something's too much for someone else because there's Morostide challengers that creep me the F out, "Let's just carry part of our entrails around." Ew. "We can't use real life maladies!" What's the one... Blister? The one that effects babies in real life.
Even more of a hot take: obvious exclusions apply.

I'd love it if they continued the subeta lands themed zombies. Last year we had zombies for the darkside, Ziara, the arctic frost and the swamp thing that is either the Omen islands or Delphi beach, so here's some suggestions for other lands.
-Sacred lands : maybe some kind of sand spirit xX, or maybe a golem incorperating parts of the crumbling temples in the region. Like these but with the sacred lands temple asthetic xXxX
-Peka glade: there's a lot of horror and mythological stories about turining into a tree that might be interesting inspiration xX
-Centropolis: a city destroying giant (like godzilla-ish) would be cool, or some kind of sewer blob monster or a monster made out of trash
-Delphi carnaval: a clown monster seems a little cliché but could be fun. Maybe a funhouse mirror zombie that has super deformed features (tiny eyes, giant ears, far too long fingers)
-Shadowglen: Classic monsters/cryptids would make nice zombie skins (frankenstein's monster, nosferatu, batboy, bigfoot) maybe some kind of werewolf but instead of turning into a wolf the HA turns into some kind of were-subetapet, turning into a dungarde would also be fun.
Long distance relationship-themed stuff for l’Amour Parlour sounds so cuuuute~ and I’ll always support bloody chopped off limbs tbh.
The title of this thread is a little misleading, though. There’s almost no chance that they would cancel Survival just because the event happens to be about a pandemic.
I'll probably change the title if the staff confirm that we will still have Survival next year.
I'll be so sad if they don't have Survival, I really need the currency to get items out of the shop for achievements (aside from the fun of the event itself). I do have to agree with .
I second the chopped off blood for the chopped off limb idea. I'm not sure if I'd use it but it's fitting. Also really like the sand spirit skin idea!
If this is supposed to be just a suggestion thread, the title and OP should be changed. People are to going to speculate or comment on whether Survival is going to happen or not based on your title, and in my opinion, that doesn't belong in a suggestion thread.
Also, seconding on more skins based on Subeta lands.
The "pandemic" aspect of survival was extremely anti-zombie, and now that we have explicit zombie culture a lot of that old content basically amounts to genocide. Things like "zombie hunters" and involuntary cure programs got extremely awkward as the site's narrative progressed.
Maybe this would be a good year to revisit the meaning behind the Survivor Memorial - which is dedicated more to actual pandemics than it was to (what turned out to be) cultural tensions and civil discord:
I vote for skipping it next year and doing Bird Watching.
If we do do it it should be like the original Pandemic where anyone can get affected, only this time make the Medicontra masks effective.
I'd be sad if Survival didn't happen. I don't think cancelling it is good for the site's well-being. That's a long stretch of inactivity from New Years to Masquerade.

If the pandemic is still hitting strong, I think we'll have to accept that some events are gonna have less content.
I'd be okay with no new skins, if only to catch up on some old strains.
Maybe Survival should now celebrate the Unliving being recognised as a new species.
That's pretty much what we've been celebrating since the truce between Skitters and Ecks's faction.
I was thinking of it being an official celebration rather than something which is just pretty much what we've been celbrating. Perhaps the Undead could have a Council member now.
I think that, for L'Amour's shop, we should celebrate less things about romantic love, and more things about other forms of love - brotherly/sisterly love, friendships, parental love and the likes.
Love is more than romantic and it would be amazing to see
In the past Subeta celebrated Valentine's just fine without zombie pandemics So weird, I know, right? :) It is not the case that "nothing would happen between New Years and Masquerade"
It can go full-on mooshy smoochy goo goo sweetums for a 2021, and if the unliving want to celebrate that love then users can put those skins on while doing that, just like they can do for other holidays the whole rest of the year.
Subeta's a place to get away from RL. People's reactions to the first Great Pandemic were pretty much a match for those during AIDS before there were any protease inhibitors. In 2010 just a year or two after the first one Keith was of the opinion that it shouldn't happen again and was a one time deal although most of the other meetup folks definitely wanted a repeat. and other meetup folks were surprised that I saw it as a metaphor for the plague of AIDS, and that it brought up old issues ...dead and buried... in me from volunteering for an AIDS charity and seeing clients come in and then go forever in such a short time.
Given that I am a prime victim for COVID and it is a real risk of real life death or disability for me, it would be too real in 2021 to be much fun.
I'd be 100% to just have a year to catch up on old skins, tbh. We can have new items in Skitters without forcing people to get them.
(I'm not on the Creative Team and this is not a staff post; I've got no say in what they do with Survival next year, just putting my personal opinions here!)
+1 to revisiting the Survivor Memorial in some way. I really like this idea as a respectful tribute to the gravity of the situation this year.
This would potentially upset people who don't want to be reminded of covid, since this would clearly hearken back to the real world. There's a recurring conversation between the two camps of:
Both camps are extremely valid. Sometimes no one is in the wrong, people can just have valid but contradicting needs that are impossible to meet at the same time. I think we need to recognize that these decisions are always trade-offs, and neither extreme (cancelling survival vs. focusing on covid references) is wise; there has to be some balance - and some compromise - so that everyone's needs are considered equally.
But I think, for Survival, it will be difficult to avoid accidental triggers, no matter what. Even if we try to avoid all references to the real-world pandemic, the holiday is still based on spreading an infectious disease, and the vocabulary uses words like "pandemic", "virus", etc.
+1 to including non-romantic relationships in L'amour Parlour. I can't see any downside to making it more inclusive! There would be fewer romance-related items perhaps, since the artists can only draw so much, but romance-related items are still the majority in all of the other years so I think it would be fair enough. I'd love to see some stuff that celebrates close friendships. It would also be cool to see some nods to non-traditional non-romantic partnerships like QPRs. Would be so cute to have a "squish" minion or something like that!

Oh, I really like the non-romantic idea, especially since I'm still not sure if I've ever really had actual romantic crushes or if they were just friend crushes. Even today, I have a friend crush (although I haven't spoken to them much recently cause they've not been online a lot and I suck at one-on-one conversations...I miss them).
See, part of me doesn't want to see the word "Pandemic" too much because it makes me feel angry and upset when I hear or read it in real life, I've only ever seen it as fictional before and I find it difficult to accept as a reality, but at the same time, I think it would be comforting to have some items like I suggested in my first post as a bit of comfort to make us feel less alone. Because I have felt very alone this year even though people repeatedly tell me "We're all struggling," but I feel like no one I know in real life has expressed it as much as I have.
