Hello and welcome to Fashion is a Passion! I'm Lotus (center), and these are my cohosts, Fizbee (left) and Magnus (right). If you love to create HAs competitively, style around themes, roleplay while competing, get feedback, or win prizes, this is the place for you!
Fashion is a Passion is a 5-round competition with cumulative scores. You'll start by presenting a fashion designer and 2-5 models, and design one or more of these models to fit the theme presented for each round. If you want, also give us your designer's thoughts about the round or the design. The three of us will be acting as judges, each giving you a score out of ten for a total out of thirty. We'll also each write a little review of what we thought of your design and why we gave you the score we did. (For more information on scoring, see the "Scoring" section.) At the end, the person with the highest score wins!
3 runner ups (4th, 5th, and 6th places) will receive 1.5 million sP worth of wearables of their choice each. 1 raffle winner out of everyone entered will receive 4 Subeautique invitations.
For the purposes of claiming prizes, Subeautique invitations count as wearables. In the event of a tie, everyone who ties will be awarded the prize for the rank they tied at.
If you break a rule in your posted design, we will let you know and you will have until the end of the round to change it. If you do not change it by the end of the round, you will not receive points for that round.
You CAN use items not in your wardrobe, including CWs. You can use as many models as you want in a design unless specified otherwise for that round, but the design must have a cohesive look and will be judged as a whole. You only get one entry, but you may use as many models as you like in that entry.
You do not have to stay in character or write blurbs about your designs if you don't want. The roleplay aspect is just for fun.
Occasionally, an extra limitation may be imposed for one round only, such as using your model's original eyes, original hair colour or length, or not using a certain colour or line of products. These will be specified at the start of said round and function the same as any other rule until the end of said round.
Fizbee is all about aesthetics. They will rate you soley on how good your model looks.
Magnus is also very focused on aesthetics, but he's a stickler for the rules, so while he'll also score based off how good you look, he'll knock off points if you don't fit the round's theme. So if you decide to take a sideways approach, make sure you include an explanation of why you still fit the theme.
Lotus doesn't really care about what's "pretty" - she's more about creativity and originality. She'll score you based off how interesting, unique, and out of the box your design is.
So overall, your score is 2/3 execution and 1/3 concept, with a penalty taken off if you don't fit the theme. Rather than requiring specific items, themes will be more nebulous things like "jungle" or "sci-fi," and will be announced at the start of each round.
When each round is announced, a judge will also appear wearing a design that fits the round to provide an example of something that would score highly.
Signups: September 4 to September 17
Round 1: September 18 to September 24
Round 2: September 25 to October 1
Round 3: October 2 to October 8
Round 4: October 9 to October 15
Round 5: October 16 to October 22
Prizes will be distributed once the contest is over, in the week following the 22nd.
If you miss signups or don't want to compete, you can still submit designs for each round and receive a rating and review of your design, but you won't be eligible for prizes. (Mods, if this somehow breaks the "everyone can participate" rule, please let me know and I'll figure something else out. My reasoning for this is everyone having the same chances to win points and win the prizes, and also to simulate the feel of a television competition.) The exception is I'll still accept signups during week one, as you'll be able to proceed on the same footing as everyone else. And there'll hopefully be a season two!
If you are not competing, you do not have to use models. You also do not have to submit your design for each round on time.
You may use your designer as one of your five models if you so wish. (You just can't have more than 4 other models, so as not to go over 5 total.)
Make sure you ping me in your post.

Carmella Delambre was discovered by a model scout while shopping groceries. She loves jewelry and throws a fit when put in pants. We're trying to avoid it. (Base * Delish Able Button Sewing Kit * Medium Freckle Lotion * Mismatched Shoes Clown Doll) Outfit Not Found
Gwen Pinner travelled the world as a trained ballet dancer. As a model, she wishes to travel even more! She loves showing skin but blushes easily. (Base * Marez Itzatul Exotic Potpourri) Outfit Not Found
Julien Wildsmith entered a model contest for fun while waiting for his sister. He claims that he doesn't care for fashion - and still has to find someone who believes him. (Base * Sougara Wasteland Cowboy Old Photograph Print * Ontra Paint Kit) Outfit Not Found
Jamie Wildsmith follows her dream to become a worldwide known model. She can act, too! So don't fall for her aloof behaviour, she's actually quite nice. (Base * Zoe Wintermist Shadow Brush * Beauty Mark) Outfit Not Found
this looks fun :)
Designer: Del. Always blue (like me, Truffula). Del likes dressing up their models in whatever outfits, and sometimes gets an especial kick out of dressing them up against type (whatever that is for the given model) but usually is tasteful. Usually. Note I didn't say always. :D Del is probably not a human, since the blue doesn't seem to wash off, but maybe a human with permanent body paint? I mean, they might be? Del won't tell.
Private Outfit
Model 1. Vivian was Del's first model and they work with her very well. Vivian doesn't mind going without makeup, but also enjoys fake colored contacts and wild makeup, so Del just makes her up however they think will match the outfit. This picture is Vivian dressed in her personal style, without makeup. Well, maybe she didn't get all the mascara off... Vivian loves cats and playing video games. In college, she majored in sociology, and when she's done with her modeling career she wants to go back to school and be a psychologist or counselor.
Private Outfit
Model 2. Emma loves layering and lacy, feminine clothes. She's also really active, and enjoys swimming, surfing, and skiboarding. She's the mother of three year old twins and a five year old border collie. Emma doesn't like appearing in public without makeup, but sometimes she has to, for fashion's sake. In this image she's wearing her most natural look makeup, which she hopes will be close enough to none to pass. The clothes are from Del, but Emma chose them for the picture.
Private Outfit
Model 3. Jacob has been interested in fashion since he was a preteen. His father is kind of famous so he doesn't use his real name. He likes both casual looks and super formal ones, and loves wearing crazy wigs (his head is actually shaved though; he's wearing a wig in this picture). He is an avid reader and also has written a screenplay. He will try to get you to read it. He's looking forward to turning 21 next year so he can legally drink at restaurants.

(possibly I'll add a 4th model before deadline... if I think of one)
looks fantastic! I've added you all to the roster. I think I'm going to rescind the "no makeup on starting models" rule, as long as you know which things you used that's enough. So Truffula, if you want to add makeup to your models feel free, otherwise this is just fine.
Edit: replaced that rule with just a reminder not to delete your model's base outfit you have saved. If any of you object to the minor change in rules, please just let me know, I want to keep everything fair.
Edit 2: Adding that unless specified, you can use as many models as you want in a design, but the design must have a cohesive look and will be judged as a whole. (You don't get two entries, but the one entry you do submit may make use of more than one model.) Figured since the contest hasn't started yet, this one is fine to add.
Sorry about that, I read it all but I guess I didn't realize no makeup DX
It's fine! I realised after seeing a few entries miss that detail that it was an unnecessary rule. No harm done :)
Steamworkblue if you aren't taking points off for originally presenting models without makeup, I don't really want to revise them... I mean, it can't hurt to know what they look like basically? I still think I want a fourth one but can't settle on an idea but I figure there's still a week before starting to think one up.
Does our designer get to occasionally model their own work?

it can't hurt at all! sorry, i didn't mean you had to revise them, just that you could if you wanted. After all, several male models on other teams don't have makeup either. ;)
I wasn't intending to have your designer be a model, but I don't see why they can't be, as long as you have 4 or fewer regular models, so your designer can just count as a model. I'll add that to the rules up there once I get back from grocery shopping.
I thank y'all for your patience while I fine tune what makes sense and what's enjoyable for a set of rules. I won't be changing anything after the contest starts to make sure it stays fair, so now's the time for suggestions.
so you can see the rule addition
but my designer doesn't follow the model rules.. they are blue and don't have a human skintone...
you can just treat them like they're always wearing body paint. don't colour them as a human, and if there's a challenge that requires you to not use body paint, then use a different model.
No problem! Thanks for the suggestion!
Private Outfit Charlay Stone is a beginning designer, a rising star. She designs when she finds inspiration, which can either be in color or in a specific style. Her style can't be defined as she works with whatever material she finds fitting with her idea and therefor her lines mostly aren't cohesive. She has been a model before starting her design career and often models her own designs.
Private Outfit Lavinia Issa was the first model to work with Charlay. She loves diamonds, flowers and ribbons. She loves to experiment with tattoos and therefor only chooses tattoos that will come off within a few days.
Private Outfit Phrynia Fenton is the most creative model in Charlay's team. She loves to try on fun outfits and experiments with different types of makeup. She's also the most joker of the group.
Private Outfit Isobella Faulkner will throw a fit when placed in pants. She was a known ballet danser, but had to stop due to injuries and is now trying to be as great in another career. She loves makeup and the color pink.
Private Outfit Rogan Phoenix didn't plan on becoming a model. But when she met Charlay the latter instantly knew that Rogan would make a great addition to her team. Rogan loves dark outfits, cause she has the feeling she can stay her own self even when being a model.
looks great! added you to the roster.
Outfit Not Found Callista Zabini started making her own clothes when she was nine. Though her family insisted she complete her studies at an exclusive boarding school in Scotland, she went on to study at Vantan Design Institute in Tokyo and recently graduated. She's worked with Angelic Pretty, Atelier Pierrot, Enchantlic Enchantilly, and other Harajuku fashion brands, but she's about to start her own. Her passion is lolita and aristocrat fashion, but she loves all street fashion trends that draw their inspiration from romantic periods in previous centuries. Her signature style involves lots of embellishments, with lace, ruffles and embroidery taking centre stage. Sometimes she models her own designs.
Outfit Not Found Paz Courinna never thought they'd be a model after they left their wealthy, obnoxious family behind, but people kept stopping them on the streets because of their cool but elegant steampunk and Gothic ensembles, so they went with it. They work in New York, LA and Japan, and live in a quiet town with their girlfriend (who designs cute, funky knitwear and bohemian plus-size clothes), a pig, an alpaca, and several horses (Paz is an avid equestrian and golfer). Paz shops everywhere from thrift shops to Harajuku boutiques. Unless they're doing a fashion shoot they never remember whose stuff they're wearing.
Outfit Not Found KIRIN is the lead singer and guitarist of a visual band, VillanELLEZ, as well as a Japanese street fashion model. She's also had bit parts in a couple of K-dramas. She considers herself a futurist and is involved in the transhumanist movement. KIRIN has modelled for Alice and the Pirates, Putumayo, Atelier Boz, Atelier Pierrot, SexPot Revenge, Excentrique, and h. Naoto.
Outfit Not Found Liana Kujaku isn't her real name; she has a secret identity as an instructor of advanced mathematics and mother of three, but her Instagram is popular among J-fashionistas and pinup and vintage enthusiasts. She and Callista have followed each other online since they were teens, and she's often seen wearing Callista's designs, so she took some time off to participate in this contest. One thing, though--she might wear a wig, but she won't cut her hair. Liana enjoys wearing classical lolita, pinup style, and everything midcentury. She is frequently seen in Callista's designs, and has been since she was a teenager. She also likes Innocent World, Enchantlic Enchantilly, Liz Lisa, Modcloth, Pinup Couture, and Collectif.
Outfit Not Found We really tried to get all the makeup off Benedetto's face, but we're not sure that eyeshadow's not a tattoo. He rarely takes anything seriously, but there was no way that he wasn't doing this. He's frequently found on the streets of Harajuku and Shibuya wearing punk and gothic styles and has been in a number of KERA street snaps. He is still mourning the disappearance of BPN/Peace Now and Putumayo and loves Listen Flavor and SexPot Revenge. He really wishes that 6% Dokidoki would make more stuff for guys.
